Excellent video I'm 54 & going to start, wish me luck 😅
Good luck bro! I’m also just starting and I’m 55
Good luck, inspiring and motivating, good for you you've got this.
Good luck! I’m starting I’m 42. ❤
Good luck Tony! Consistency is key. Show up! Even if you feel tired and don't want to, show up and do what you can! Already after a short while, you'll notice the compound effect of all the small changes you made, every time you showed up and did your thing! You can!
💪
I am 57 and used to run marathons in my 40s. Now I am a sedentary math teacher and occasional preacher who sits and reads a lot. So I am jumping in with you guys and my goal is a muscle up by summertime! I have a ways to go, but NEED a meaningful goal to aim for. I just subscribed here so see you around!
Great! Enjoy the journey. Let me know if you have any questions
Excellent video, no nonsense, crisp and concise. Thanks!
This is a serious gem of content for anyone starting or years into fitness. This will give them a great foundation and so much that is overlooked with general body weight exercises. Love it. 🔥
You are a magnificent beast. All the best from Munich, Germany!
Thank you very much. ❤
Great info and great video ,love to see your dog more often on your videos.
YES! been looking for this for a long time.
Great! Great to hear
Thanks 💪
Excellent video. These are exactly the type of beginner exercises I need, I wish I had found a video like this years ago but, better late than never!
Yes just use them as warm up before any harder movements you’re already doing
I wish I found your content earlier. It would make my life much easier and less frustrating.
Great to hear you enjoy and find the videos useful :)
I’ve seen a great deal of videos dealing with this topic. This is my favorite. Great content. Liked. Subscribed.
Awesome Great to Hear! Thanks for the Feedback
Wow, so many great tips! I looked at many calisthenics videos but this one totally fits my needs. Thanks! Bookmarked and subscribed.
Awesome thank you ! Great to hear
This is an amazing video. The explanations, the video cuts, the techniques, the progression, and demonstrations are off the chart. Thank you for sharing and teaching the mass with safety in mind.
Thank you 🙏 Great to hear
I love all your videos and I'm going to check out your app too. Thank you! 🙏
Awesome! Thank you!
Heyhey Paul, I'm glad you're showing exercises for beginners again (especially for the over 40s)! And on that note, I've also saved your videos 'Crow to handstand' and 'Top 5 pike push-ups' to my CZcams "watch later list". Thank you and greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Great to hear. Definitely more beginner videos coming
@@PaulTwyman Very nice to hear! I believe that if you make these videos with fine, doable progression levels, you will have some viewers following you.
Excellent. Clear, succinct, intelligent instruction. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Paul! Great explanation, I think you are a professional athlete. I am 60 years old and thanks to exercise I have retained my strength, I advise everyone to lead a healthy lifestyle!
Paul i enjoyed it
Brilliant video. Thank you. Subscribed

Thank you! Great to hear
so many little moves i will use, they look useful indeed, thank you. great video!
You're welcome!
First time I have come across you. A lot of info to digest. But very good. Don't think I have ever seen it broken down with reasoning in quite the same way. So useful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I really like Ur Content. Very simpel but still everything u Need to know in a short time. Been doing some callisthenic skills since two years or so but never really fully committed to it. Gonna start doing that thanks to your channel.
Great to hear! Keep me posted
Perfect video! Thank you 👊
Glad you liked it!
Good info. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Great detailed, knowledgeable breakdown. Masteful job. Thank you.

Just found your channel. Good stuff!

Gracias; eres un gran maestro.🥇
🙏 thank you
Great advice, and hyped about the dog at 5:15 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! She’s always beside me 🐶
Great! Thanks.
You're welcome!
Excellent content. Thx
Great to hear! Thanks
Alright this definitely helps with my current progression block with HS especially. Will start passive hang again starting today. Always lose the balance when it comes to overbalanced position. Great guide. 45 and struggling with mobility 😊😊
Good stuff. Give it time, train consistently and enjoy the journey
Great stuff dude.
Appreciate it!
Thank you🙏🏾
No problem
13 min of video equals 13 months of training. If I'm lucky! (Great video, thanks!)
Great! Glad you found it useful
@@PaulTwyman I'm a month in, and I think 13 months was too optimistic. You're truly strong Sir, nice!
This was really good.
Thank you 🙏
Im 53 and a beginner, found these tips really helpful. Thank-you 😊
Glad it was helpful! Great to hear
amazing!
Thank you 🙏
Great post- you are on top of your game bro! Really appreciate the great info and this is really helpful- many thanks!🙏
My pleasure!
Thanks
Welcome
67 , you are spot on with your advise
Great to hear! Thanks for the Feedback
Fantastic video
Thanks!
A great vid, probably need to go through it several times. I tried moving to bodyweight training a few years ago, but keep hitting snags because of all the imbalances Ive accrued over the years, which I cant seem to shake. You work with a lot of clients over 40 so Im sure you get it.
Would be interested to know how that ceiling bars is connected. On the zoom-in it seems makeshift: 90 degree screw fit joints and bar, does the job and saves a few quid. Would be interested to know: how its secured to the joists, the sizes and ratings of the bits and bobs.
Cheers
Great to hear! Yes the bar is bolted to my roof joists. I’ll be making a home gym set up video soon and I will show everything
I love hanging on a Monday, just have 6pints and then I’m grand again!
Balance 👌
As a beginner this is very helpful, even though I'm just in my 20s
Glad it was helpful!
Great no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point, lots of info packed in this CZcams vid. Love your style of explaining things. Are these moves suitable for women?
Great to hear! Thank you and yes definitely these are suitable for women. Some things will be harder and some easier but that’s the same for each individual
That’s friggin gorgeous 🔥
Thanks!
it would be great to share some training info on trainning frequency or exersise combination
Yes more to come 🙃
It would be good if you could show the basics in different directions. The scap traction is key so suggest to demonstrate it showing your back.
From 0:49 to 1:20 I was blown away - this guy has somehow seen and blatantly copied the dance moves I bring for special occasions such as weddings and... funerals.
The ‘Dad Dance’ 🕺
Amazing! Are there any gyms you recommend in Perth? I want to get into calisthenics and want to train with others. Thank you!
Inspired Movement and Movement Co are both amazing. I'm at Inspired most Saturdays
I am recovering from a minor-ish left rotator cuff injury and associated weak trapezius due to compensation. I have found a passive hang quite challenging, but I think the assisted hang and roller could help get me there :o)
Yes, also try an active hang (shoulders back and down), that can create more space and often allows longer holds without pain
@@PaulTwyman ohhh thank you!
Nice video and channel, I have subscribed. By the way, I am 55, on my way to perfection 😊
Awesome 55 years young 💪💪
i have no clue, why this channel does not have a lot more subscribers!
aaand i have a question since crow pose seems to be some kind of gateway drug to more advanced stuff and i cannot do it:
i am 1m98 and 120kg, have bad flexibility in my wrists (and everywhere else but that's another story) and do not even have the strength to play around with balance in crow pose. i manage to get into the pose and stay there for a few seconds when i am lucky and found the balance point. from there i just fall over on direction or the other. so, how do i prepare my fingers, wrists and arms ideally for the task...?
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. I’d recommend you first focus on Push Ups, Rows, Squats and Hangs. Start with easier progressions like incline push ups. Then each week make them slightly harder, the body will then condition overtime to the increased intensity. Hope that helps
@@PaulTwyman thank you for your answer!
push up, rows and squats are ok-ish, have some lower back deficiencies to iron out there mostly.
grip strength is improving and i am at 55 sec continous active hang. still lots to do there but i see progress. but not with my wrists
The dip bars look good , I have trigger finger in two fingers so I think push ups might be very hard .
Yeah bars are great and you can get different heights for different skills
Buy a set of pushup bars they helped me a great deal as I have arthritis in both thumbs.
@@cormac1000 Awesome thanks , got huge as new mountain bike , be good for a bit of fitness when I can force myself outside lol . Going to be rather scary to ride .
Hello 👋 I can do Pike push ups easily but can you tell how to lift legs in pike push ups ?
Same principles apply for Press and HSPU or pike float. This video will help czcams.com/video/0E7g0Do1lgw/video.htmlsi=-MdXHwdx80tk1ttn
5:16 Doggie!!! 😍
Yes She's always in the background
@PaulTwyman I love that! I will subscribe to see more of your dog.🥰 And I guess I will get some good flexibility tips, too.😅
Thanks for all these great suggestions, but I find you are skipping some important information, such as how long to hold these positions (seconds / minutes) how many reps, how frequently to perform (daily etc?). How to progress the movements. I will keep re-watching to get as much as I can from the video.
I’m going to try to quit processed (meaning things that are overly processed not things like beef because technically getting rid of the skin and stuff is considered processing for some reason) foods as much as possible, wonder how it’ll turn out
Hope it helps your calisthenics 💪
I can hang from my right hand but not my left hand. I guess my left hand grip is weaker. I don't know.
Yes normally one arm will be much stronger than the other
How are you speaking so calmly while doing all these motions?
Lots of practice both training the skills and coaching
what about a towel instead of rings
Yes great option
I'm nearly 60. Is it possible at my age?
Yes! same at any age, you need to consider current level, conditioning and training experience. Then slowly progress through the progressions at the pace that fits your recovery etc.
@@PaulTwyman thanks you so much for advice ❤

Thanks
This might have qualified as a beginner calisthenics video if there were more details about the exercises that included progressions to work your way to what was shown on screen. But as is, this is not a beginner video.
Yeah it’s super tricky to know what levels are suitable for each individual, it’s impossible to give the correct progressions on a CZcams video. Even classifying what’s Beginner, Intermediate or advanced as it all relevant to the individual.
yeah for people who practiced gymnastic since young age easier .... not the best example to follow
Bit too advanced for this beginner here..
I wonder how many ppl look at this guy and think "I wanna look like him".
I don’t care about the looking part, I want to do what he does. Especially at my age.
You should write close to your youtube name. Inspired by Ido portal every instruments you use he teached years ago and you copied on youtube.
Good content though.
I’ve been inspired by, learnt from, researched, studied, practiced and taught for 20 years. Ido, Yuval Ayalon, Paul Chek, Gymnastics Bodies, Migual Santana, GMB, Emmet Louis, Mikael Kristianson have all been a big part of my learning
@@PaulTwyman its seen you are great.
Christ is King, God bless you.
