i haven't lost to a dragonite in so long.. do people need to start running 3 attack or something? i feel like the ekiller arceus larp set has kind of fallen off
In certain metas it's extremely strong and in others it's downright useless. When HO is dominant it's great because it can usually take one hit from anything and threaten to counter sweep with some of the strongest priority in the game. Against bulkier offense teams and stall though, it gets absolutely stuffed.
I started running it again on a whim and it’s not been bad for me tbh. That being said my teams usually center on wearing mons down until I can espeed at the end
Dragonite is still good in high ladder bro
dragonite's usage in ou actually peaks in mid ladder (1500-1825) and its generid dd espeed set has a like 35% wr in spl, with most of its wins coming from games where it jumpscared its opponent with a random tech move. i'll admit that dragonite's movepool does make it really nasty to go up against unprepared, but if you guess its 4th move right it's usually not that crazy
im enjoying the dd encore set on dnite i think its much better than 3 attacks
glowking is unbelievably good, great into HO, great into stall, a nightmare for weather teams especially with tera water
great into everything basically, lol
This channel is criminally underrated. I have a question tho. I love using balance but am struggling to make it work in the current meta game. Would u recommended structures of 2, 3, or 4 defensive mons with the remaining offensive?
Balance is very difficult to build in gen 9, but it is usable. I'd say 4 defensive mons, but 3 works as well. 2 Defensive mons is no longer a balance. Ideally though you don't have your entire team strictly divided into offensive and defensive, and many team members can do both.
Gotcha. I’ll try 4 defensive mons with a few of them having some offensive capabilities. Thanks for the reply!
smh it's obvious 6 defensive mons is the correct way to build balance rn
Great video, I suggest boosting your mic volume for the future ones though
Glad you enjoyed the video! And yes the volume issue is my bad, definitely avoidable and it will be fixed next time.
Bulky Gouging fire contrary to the offensive variant is also very good into offense, just gotta watch out for Great tusk and stuff like Heatran
in number 5 I would add skarmory to the list. it's pretty similar to Zamazenta but it has a recovery move and sturdy which means you can take hits, switch out and preserve some HP to wall stuff again and if it is full hp is a guaranteed whirlwind but with Zama I feel like I can't use it that freely and have to wait until the right moment. the only and biggest downside of skarmory is that it can't touch ghost types and is a free switch for dragapult everytime
Skarmory is definitely strong against HO but in my opinion not at the same level as Dragapult and Zamazenta. Whirlwind sets aren't particularly effective since Skarm really wants to run ID Press roost hazard. It's true that you have to time Zama correctly, but this becomes less of a burden the shorter games are, and HO produces the shortest games ever.
@@pinkacross2042 good point! kind of off-topic but imagine if there was a fast or prankster mon with acces to topsy-turvy it would ruin HO almost completly. sometimes I play PU and it was the main counter to iron defense registeel before it was banned it was really hilarious being able to completely shut down offensive threats
W channel, really great stufd. Keep up the good work my man!
Thanks, will do! :D
RETURN OF THE KING
learned a lot here but the origin of the term phasing actually blew my mind
I learned about that while making this video too! I had no idea before
I guess the term should look more like p-hazing to reflect its origins better?

Commenting to prevent roaring moon from uninstalling the entire OU tier
Thank you sir!
I had never seen that Clodsire set at 1:09. Is it actually usable? No damaging moves seems pretty bad
Other than that, pretty helpful and great video, only problem is that the audio is kinda low
This Clodsire set is designed to be on Stall teams. It's terrible outside of stall, but generally balance teams shouldn't be using Unaware Clodsire anyway.
Hey Pinkacross, do you plan on making a video on how to build balance, offense or bulky offense just as you did with HO? That video was really helpful so I was hoping you do similar videos of the other archetypes
Yes, I certainly will! The video this week was rushed (sick, tons of school work, etc.) so I didn't want to make such a major video as that. Likely very soon I'll be releasing a guide to build balance! :]
I thought I was crazy, turned out you really were sick. Obligatory "take your meds" so you can keep feeling good about doing this stuff!
mirror herb zamazenta is the best vs HO tbh. leng loi used it vs HYper in OUPL
That sounds hilarious honestly.
Great video! You should up your mic or speak louder tho :0 it was very hard for me to hear you unless you were at max volume
Glad you enjoyed the video! You are correct about the volume, realized this sound issue after posting. It will be fixed next time.
Can you make a vid about NatDex? Id like to see what team combinations are extremely op if all pokemon are available
Imagine how awesome it would be for Koko to volt switch into any Iron mon
I may branch out to NatDex in the future but for the forseeable future I'll mostly be focusing on SV OU.
Just had an epiphany that daschbun completely walls gouging fire, and the potential of cloud 9 altaria with a defensive tera really messing up weather teams. Wanted to share the idea with you and see your thoughts
The dachsbun idea is interesting, 0 faith in altaria though tbh.
I’ve recently been building a sun team and it stops most things, stall, HO, etc. People prepare for rain but not sun so it has the element of surprise and protosynthesis boost + another item leads to extremely strong capabilities in general.
It’s got sash ceruledge to stop sweeps then reverse sweep.
Great tusk for hazard control.
Walking wake to deal with rain. Choice specs and protosynthesis SpA makes it very hard to wall.
Bulky torkoal
Volcarona because flame dance boosted by sun is really strong, and with giga drain it can scare water types too
Semi-bulky gouging fire so it can take hits then use boosted morning suns.
Overall it has faired well against some of the Pokémon mentioned in this video, the abundance of fire types makes rillaboom useless, both dirge and sire are threatened by walking wake. Tera water volcarona can take out dondozo and the fire types can easily take on clefable’s stab moves.
Ceruledge scares non-sash dragapults. Walking wake scares ting-lu. Archaludon is getting suspected so idk if it’ll stay around but earthquake from gouging fire stops it.
Encore can be quite annoying to deal with (though this team doesn’t rely too much on setup) but I do love using it in my regular OU team on val, it hard counters gambit, threatens volcarona, just good overall.
Hawlucha sounds fun to use, I’ve never really seen it used in OU unfortunately.
As always, a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, and your team sounds cool!
@@pinkacross2042 thank you!
Sounds interesting, can you send the pokepaste i want to try it
Great video as always! are you still accepting teams to roast? I built this a few days ago cause I know rain is really strong right now(and arch is being suspected right after I made it so ill use it for reqs)

I want to have a champion format.
We've all made it to become pokemon champions so we shall be allowed to use items in battle! But definitely restricted to a low amount. Like 1-3 revives and hyperpotions with some berries and elixirs
Watching this as a HO main to counter the counterplay
Meta
What would the ideal team look like utilizing each of these roles (not sure if you can fit them all but maybe)
Idk, but its always nice to have one super fast mon + one priority mon.
You definitely DON'T want a team entirely focused on countering HO-- it would destroy HO for sure, but it wouldn't be good against a lot of other playstyles. I'd recommend trying to fit a few on each team, but don't try to fit them all.
@@pinkacross2042 Ye I figured it would leave the team with many holes and lack synergy. That Dragapult team you showcased in ur Top 5 mons vid is good example of using a couple mons to check HO while still having a well-balanced team.
can you tell me how i can beat tyranitar and sand rush excadrill? I am in a draft league and i gotta fight this guy he has a very good team.
Watch out for Ttar mixed sets-- Excadrill isn't too difficult to wall, but Ttar can be very scary in draft.
@@pinkacross2042 do you have like discord or twitter or something I wanna send you my team I really gotta beat this guy man he been talking mad shit
I liked, subscribed, and left this comment.
Now Roaring Moon is tearing my opponents apart with 3 Spikes, Stealth Rock, and Tera Ghost Shadow Claw.
(it's utterly hilarious when things like Bulky Tusk / Air Balloon Treads tries to spin on this)
Meloetta is still finding a way to beat Fiery/Drain Volcarona
- (probably tera dragon CM, prot, psyshock...? feels too focused on anti-CM tho, and leaves her open to Archaludon and Kyurem's Meteors)
- Thunder is OK, but not as reliable as TWave (more because of 60% para; the 70% acc is surprisingly workable)
- Alluring Voice is also great but that's the awkward Kingambit-esque situation: will it Fiery or Quiver?
edit: Hilariously, the only sweeper Sash DPult can't stop... is itself (darts dance)
edit 2: I'm not sure if I did, but pretty sure a team I commented once has TWave/Encore Scream Tail. While it was utterly passive besides TWave (Wish/Rocks) it was the most annoying thing for everything from stall to HO
Haha yes you've mentioned Meloetta a few times, do you have a team with it? Seems verycool.
Hey your set sounds interesting , I want to try it could you send the pokepaste
I really thought phazing was like the Pokémon phases out and another phases in x3
Yea that makes sense too!
You gotta make one on how to build against Rain, Sun and Psychic Terrain.. maybe even Grassy Terrain but thats not nearly as threatening anymore after sneasler ban
Hmm yes a video on countering weather sounds like a good idea. The main answer is pretty much Glowking though... that mon is amazing
@@pinkacross2042 Glowking seems to be the answer for everything, we aren't worthy of such a mon
How to counter Glowking as a sun user? :)@@pinkacross2042
Unpopular opinion, zamacenta is a good scarf to deal HO, sweepers and weather teams
I wanna spill some pointers but it's helping me climb ladder keeping my mouth shut so lmaoooo
Haha enjoy your HO sir, I know I do! So fun to play in gen 9. You don't have to worry about Tera BS if you ARE the Tera BS. >:]
@@pinkacross2042 I take curse NaCl to another level
Red card max HP ditto to switch in on setup
That's vile LOL
You need to boost your volume by at least 20db
You are correct, realized this sound issue after posting. It will be fixed next time.
this vid was a bit quiet idk why good video tho
Thanks! Yes there was an audio issue I realized after posting, it will be fixed next time! :]
I play sand. I’m not good, only like 1700 but sand with offensive deoxys speed is funny.
1700s is REALLY good compared to the average player, don't discredit yourself! :]
yo is this you that i encounter at 1400 elo with your latias?
I don't have any alts in the 1400s so that was not me. My 2 accounts are Pinkacross and Pinkacross Alt.
Maybe I'm just bad but the copy paste rain team with Archaludon, Barraskewda and Raging Bolt is a brutal matchup for my HO
I'd say most HO teams struggle with rain-- Barraskewda, Arcahludon, and powerful priority from Raging Bolt are all difficult to handle.
Subscribed and liked but my only comment is that your voice is very low and I gotta max my volume just to hear close to normal. Not trying to be a dick, just sayin'. Also, thank you so much for the content as always.

I know lack of special attacks but I only see Ogerpon Well spring and Archaludon being problem and it is a balance team
I don't think Muk fits here-- your team is very weak to Gliscor. I would recommend replacing Muk with Air Balloon Kingambit, and making Gliscor a Swords Dance set to handle other Gliscor. Still, you'll lose to SD gliscor yourself... perhaps Tera Blast Ice on Zapdos would help.
@@pinkacross2042 I found Muk useful since current special threats are Darkrai Serpeior and Enarmous, and Muk beat them all, also yes I put my ice spinner on my great tusk, Muk comes really handy in some situations, the only Pokemon I think could replace is great tusk since it does not provide much of key role and rarely comes
@@Z.P.1995 I can agree with Muk being a solid pokemon-- but even with Ice Spinner on Tusk your Gliscor matchup is still very rough I'd say. Whichever pokemon is underperforming, I recommend removing in favor of a solid Gliscor answer.
@@pinkacross2042 great tusk is underperforming ig

I saw you on the skill link podcast recently and you mentioned that you want to put on weight. Is that why this video is so quiet? Are you trying to conserve energy?
Haha that's a good one, but no. Mostly this was just an audio issue due to a problem with my mic, combined with the fact that I had to speak quietly since I was recording while a roomate was sleeping. It will be fixed next time.
Hey just wondering why are they all female
To avoid Cute Charm from contact moves. On the ones with no contact moves, we don't want to REVEAL that we don't have contact moves so we run female anyway.
