    I think some key stuff was saying "This team doesn't have a goal" and defining "How many coins can Thicc Bisharp eat?" because that clearly demonstrates to some who might still not have a feel for the rest of what is said.
    It's like in any other game, platform, or industry: if you don't have a cohesive unit, that's fine and dandy but it 9x out of 10 will not perform as efficiently as a unit that IS cohesive

    Great video, I think its indirectly understood, but you forgot to say that all of these playstyles revolve around and sit somewhere in Offense-Defense Spectrum. I feel like an individual video explaining all in detail for each would also be a great idea.

    Very sold breakdown that’s very helpful
    Although I would probably disagree a little bit with the semi stall description
    This very rare play style you hardly see on ladder
    I would probably use the term (cleaner /late game sweeper ) instead
    Cause you just let the team play itself slowly whittle down opposing team with hazard and toxic damage before you unleash the cleaner / sweeper
    Like bulk up tflame in gen 6
    Or cm tapu fini
    Sd weavile .. etc
    Even though I. Can see breakers also can work
    If you punch enough holes you can win defensively after
    All on all great video

    I'd add that you can have set up mons on offense,the difference is in how you play them. On ho, your Mons rely on setup and usually you try to set up constantly (like a Shell smash polteageist). On offense, you can throw in setup moves on some sets but use them only in certain matchups (like nasty plot hydreigon, rock polish Lando-T) .

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 7 měsíci +2

      That's a fair statement-- but even then, Offense will always have less setup than HO. Even something like Rock Polish Landorus-Therian or Nasty Plot Hydreigon won't be seen on all 4 pokemon on an Offense team, typically 1 or 2 at most. But you're correct, you certainly still CAN have setup on Offense, it just isn't setup-based.

    Is there a general favorability between certain playstyles, like how there are type matchups? Does HO usually beat or lose to O?

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 7 měsíci +3

      I'd say HO vs Offense is usually pretty even, depends on how much the Offense decided to counter HO. Offenses with more priority users and Kingambit answers will perform very well, and Offenses that focus mostly on breaking bulkier teams will get completely steamrolled by HO. I'd say its even, generally. HO I'd say is slight positive against balance, Offense is slight positive against Bulky Offense, and Stall has an amazing matchup against HO.

    I’m looking to get into competitive Pokémon, however building a team from scratch always seems to stump me. Is there a type of play style that is more beginner friendly?

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 7 měsíci +5

      Great question! The most beginner-friendly style to build (and arguably to play as well) is Hyper Offense. This is because you don't have to worry as much about creating solid defensive cores, and you can focus only on sweepers that work together to break and threaten different types of teams. Also, building Hyper Offense is quite formulaic and often involves many of the same or similar pokemon, making it easy for beginners. Don't stick to HO for TOO long though, once you can put together decent HOs I recommend trying out building Balance, this is difficult but it's great for learning how to balance defensive and offensive cores, synergy, etc.

    One of my favorite Pokémon to use in competitive, both in Singles and Doubles is Kommo-o, and I’m uncertain as to what to support that with. What kind of playstyle would Kommo-o most commonly fit in, and what are some other Pokémon that fit said playstyle (at least in Singles)?

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Kommo-O works best on Hyper Offense-- in previous generations it worked on balance as a Stealth Rock user but it's very outclasses this gen in that role.

    If you get seismic tossed to death by a chansey (it can't toxic stall now) or iron pressed to death by an avalugg wouldn't it make the team "bulky offense" instead of "stall'?
    Detailed vids on each playstyles would be great.

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 7 měsíci +2

      The playstyle isn't named by how the kill ultimately happens, moreso how the overall plan is. Stall relies on walling you, killing you with Seismic Toss would be nice but it's not the main plan. Therefore it's not an offense style (like bulky offense).

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 7 měsíci +6

      On day 1, rules would have to be put in place to avoid Sub + Protect. There are so many ways for this to go on forever. Leech Seed, Aqua Ring, Ingrain, Poison Heal, etc. And once all the broken infinite turn nonsense was banned, people would just start spamming Stall since Recovery wouldn't have the typical limitations. Infinite PP would certainly be a bad thing for the game.

    • @kephalai
      @kephalai Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@pinkacross2042 thanks for entertaining my question :D love the insight. a follow up question, just say in this hypothetical situation, we then removed all the stall and recovery, so basically the stall playstyle is removed, (i personally never liked stall playstyle teams because it felt draggy and boring) would that be a bad thing/ruin the balance of everything? is having some sort of stall playstyle important for the game?
      I always had some vague idea that certain playstyles counter other playstyles which creates a type of balance, was hoping that you would get into that in this video but all you did here was define each playstyle and told us why having a playstyle is important

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 7 měsíci

      @@kephalai To prevent Ingrain / Leftovers / Aqua Ring / Leech Seed / etc. Infinite stalling, you would need to remove nearly all forms of recovering health. This would absolutely ruin competitive pokemon I would say. Other than stall countering HO, there IS no solid "this playstyle beats that playstyle" rule. Other than perhaps "a team with A playstyle will almost always beat a team with NO playstyle."
