Indeed it is.
its kinda depressing that kingambit would improve all of these teams...truly a monster
Not ALL... Kingambit over Metagross, absolutely. I'd say the other two teams are OK without Kingambit though.
JUST BAN KINGAMBIT ALREADY
@@sixtenk2nah, we gotta ban gliscor first. Maybe later. Maybe
god that first team is such a lowladder meme i love it
I knew I had to include it when I saw it!
What do you think about featuring one of the teams you fix in a video or during the same video ?
It would be entertaining to see one of those into action piloted by yourself
I actually did test all of these teams to ensure that the changes I recommended actually worked-- that being said, I don't think I'd include that in the same video. That would lead to the video being extremely long and I'd likely lose a lot of viewership. That being said, in the future I can certainly include the replays of the test games I do in the description! I may also make a video where I focus on improving and testing 1 team submission instead of 3.
@@pinkacross2042 u could timestamp it and the ones who dont care skip that part
@@pinkacross2042 That would be nice !
@@pinkacross2042 I imagine a 1900's player's look when their opponent has a Plusle
@@theWastedSpace13 i think that sort of stuff, or putting them all at the end in one big chunk, is lowkey analytics poison, unfortunately. I think a second video is probably better, but tbh no one knows how youtube works
Imagine you give your team to your favorite pokemon creator for them to rate, and they rate it a 1/10 and fix literally everything about it
😭
I make sure to specify that teams will be roasted for this reason exactly-- hopefully they took it OK haha... at least it's not a 0/10!
@@pinkacross2042do you do community posts for team submissions?
Well, they signed up for it lol. Constructive criticism is amazing
I think it’s perfectly acceptable to tell someone their team isn’t viable for laddering. Even if somebody has more fun playing a specific team and doesn’t care too much about winning, it’s still helpful to let them know the reasons why certain choices won’t work well in the current meta-game.
Another thought I had was if you have an alt account you don’t care about, that if you used some of these teams on ladder you could highlight where they’re strong and where they struggle after your team overview/explanation.. though that might be too long of a video
I actually did extensively test all of these teams on ladder... on my main account lol. I don't include it in the videos though, because as you say, it would lead to a VERY long video which significantly decreases the amount of people who click on it.
@@pinkacross2042 gotcha. Very brave of you to use that first team xD
Those videos are great really entertaining. It would be cool if you could give the fixed team also a rating from 1-10 how usable they would be in OU.
That's a good idea! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! :D
I was thinking the same!
2nd team having 5 ice weakness (with one being 4x weak) feels weird. even if meow can protean out of ice weakness or you can tera out of it.
Yes very true, this was an oversight on my part. In my testing I was able to outplay Kyurem and Weavile / Atales were never a problem, but likely there is a way to improve the team further. I tested the addition of Scizor at one point but was unable to make it fit, still-- perhaps a Scizor would be usable here.
I like that Ice is such a non-entity, even with well-used Ice types, that you can have a team weak to Ice Pokémon and Ice coverage moves and still win.
Hi pinkacross! I wanted to mention that first team was also using zen headbutt on metagross instead of psychic fangs heres my submission,

I built this as just a fun team to mess around with on the ladder but have been getting some decent success with it. Zoroark is def the weak link, being just a bit too frail to come in and just not fast enough for the current OU meta, but wasn't sure what to replace it with.

Thank you for the submission! This looks very cool!
surely the first team wasn’t meant to be OU? Wasn’t Pelipper in UU at some point this gen?
My thoughts exactly
If someone sent a team to be fixed be the OU fixer man, I suspect it was intended to be used in OU
It was indeed UU at some point-- but at the time that team was submitted, many of the pokemon on the team were in OU. In particular, at the time the team was submitted, Metagross and Swampert were recent introductions to the generation and were ranked OU. This team would have had to be OU (unless it was a past-generation team, which I find unlikely).
it looks like a team from the last generation RU or UU, based on the moves the Metagross this was made before the DLC buffs
I attempted a team with Metagross & Hydreigon. Here’s the pokepaste.

Love this video! Would be ok with you changing out a few pokemon each time. Especially if its a plussle 😂
Haha yes the next installment of this series will be a bit more serious and analyzing good teams to make them great.
i really like the ladder session videos and would like to see more, maybe another channel for just raw gameplay? also great video😊
Glad you like the ladder session videos! I'll certainly be making more live content whenever I have a team that's working well in high ladder! Hopefully this weekend-- my plan is to release one more structured video weekly, and do ladder session videos more sporadically since I can never predict when a team will pop off on ladder.
13:55 my dumbass thought you were gonna say magnezone
My poor Magnezone... such a fun pokemon. Tera really killed him, Steel types being able to just say "nah I'll swap out" and keep living...
Great video!! Just wondering, why did you use speed evs for +1 iron boulder on hawlucha when boulder resists both of hawlucha’s attacks?
Good question! Honestly that was probably unnecessary, although I just realized I should go a little bit faster to outspeed Scarf Darkrai. That being said I would probably want to outspeed boulder anyway just to deal damage, I'd need to get very close to Boulder speed anyway to deal with stuff like Scarf Meowscarada.
This Is a fun type of video and everyone can learn since we for the most part are ignorant. TY
Glad you enjoyed it! :D
I like rock types, but types and ghosts. So I can make a good team with like, one of those
I'm curious what you think of Archaludon in the tier. It could just be a teambuilding issue, but it feels like a real pain to play around, particularly on rain teams, of course. It feels like it isn't difficult for it to steamroll you if it gets a good switch-in. Defense boost + special attack boost with Electroshot is a nasty combo, and tera means it deals with the ostensible counter I have for it, especially if it gets a free shot off due to needing to switch in on it. I guess there are some decent options to shut it down, Volc, some Gholdengos, Skeledirge, Clodsire, but it can feel like a crapshoot.
I guess there's the idea that forcing it to waste its tera to remove my counter is a good thing, but it feels dubious at times.
Yea Archaludon can certainly be very annoying for some teams. I certainly wouldn't ban it though-- Rain teams aren't very strong in my opinion, and outside of Rain it's not a fantastic pokemon (although it is viable).
I'd like to know if your opinion has changed at all. I've been seeing more of a ban sentiment for Arch recently, which surprised me, I didn't expect it to end up divisive.@@pinkacross2042
Yo Pinka I love this series!! take a look at this team if you feel like it, the idea is to chip down the opposing team with hazards and offensive gholdengo so that hawlucha, rilla or tusk can win in the end game. Issue is its pretty weak to rain and I think its a little inconsistent (also tera ground lucha is for nuzzle, thunder wave and thunderclap).

I would have loved to see just one team be fixed then bringing it onto the OU ladder for a few games to see how it does. overall enjoyed the video regardless :)
The full process of fixing and testing a team often takes several hours. Still, I may make a video like this at some point.
Best video yet, it's gonna take so long for me to understand team building lol
Nobody "understands" teambuilding. It's always a process of testing until something works-- you just get better at recognizing patterns, processes, and cores. You'll get there, just have fun with it. Battles can be lost to hax, but you only lose in teambuilding when you give up! :D
Yoo sick video! Learning time, boys haha
Glad you liked it! :D
will you be making follow up videos with the teams that didnt make the cut for this one?
Depending on how many significant metagame changes occur between now and the next video, maybe! There will be a LOT of teams that never get featured though, unfortunately. Last time I got hundreds of submissions, and I only include 3 per video.
Yo pinka great vid wanted to send a submission at some point but my issue was that i hadnt played this new meta yet (dlc 2) so i builded a team using Archaludon not in rain but as a rocks setter and check to grasses (Rilla, Oger) but it also included my fav pre dlc Iron Valiant set being scarf. Hazard removal is really hard to find rn and hey another Kingambit check can never be bad right?
Here are also some bullet points i made to improve the team as well
- Fire Switch-in: I've got none
- Kyurem: I got REALLY lucky and didnt fight any Kyurem
and when i did they usually just played bad but Specs Kyurem in theory looks impossible for this team to beat
- To many hazard setters: Again if you look at Clod's moveset you'll see the issue maybe i should instead of using Poison Jab on Clod i should put U-Turn on Gliscor and make Clod the Spikes setter
Anyways im really praying you take a look at this team in the next vid but if you dont i'll watch the vid anyways keep up the good work
Thank you for the submission and description! This is an interesting team! Also I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the content! :D
Love this type of vid. I need to make a team with hitmontop
Glad you like the video! As for the hitmontop team, absolutely, send it in!
Honestly if you really wanted to commit to the "Pikaclone Rain" bit, I'd jut forgo the "clone" part altogether and run Pikachu. Grab a Light Ball and sling perfectly accurate Thunders and rain-boosted Surfs around. It Obviously you aren't topping ladder with this unless you're some kind of nut, but there's potential here to be a bit silly and still take games.
I agree, Pikachu with Light Ball is almost certainly unviable but significantly better than Minun and Plusle. Pikachu could probably reach mid 1900s.
What considerations go into selecting viewer teams? Would love to know, think someone else has also commented this tho lol
I like to select at least one or two teams that have some creative element-- in this case, Hisuian Electrode. I'm more likely to select teams that are extreme, very good or very bad. In this case the Plusle rain was selected for this reason, and the Weavile team in my last "Roasting my Viewers' Teams" video was selected because it was very good. Lastly, I like to pick one team with a moderate amount of errors. I must admit that laziness becomes somewhat of a factor here-- these videos take a lot more work than they appear, since I actually often have to test multiple iterations of a team before I feel confident in the changes I'm making. Working on the hisuian-electrode team alone took about 2.5 hours. Therefore, the 'moderate amount of errors' team is usually one where I can easily see the fix. In this case, Winterbub's team had a VERY obvious issue of mixing playstyles that I knew how to fix immediately, which made it an appealing choice.
Erm… scarf electrode-h outspends and ohkos some swift swim Pokémon 🤓
This is technically true.
Yooo what!! Am like 11 hours late but thanks for the team feature and fix! Glad that the team I built at least scored a pass 😅😂
You did very well! The team was solid overall and if it didn't have an Electrode, probably would have been a 7! Good stuff and once again thanks for the submission!
Do you do Natdex OU too? I'd assume no since it's vastly different from regular OU, but if so I'd really love it if my rain team gets improved. It's ok but it's def not the best
I currently don't play NatDex, but I may branch out in the future!
I do love myself wacky sets. One of my best was (gen 8 pu) lilligant with lefties, quiver dance, giga drain (or mega), freaking healing wish and *fucking charm.*
That does sound hilarious, I must admit
@@pinkacross2042 and I hate that it worked.
At 10:20 , how do you know what EV to subtract and added to? I want to know more about that 'Hazard Damage' you mentioned.
odd hp takes 1% less hazard dmg iirc
Hazard damage always rounds down. Therefore it is ideal not to have HP that can be evenly divided into possible hazard-damage-based chunks. If you're only worried about Stealth Rock, you just need to make sure your HP isn't divisible by 8 (assuming the pokemon taking damage is neutral to Stealth Rock). But there are other cases as well. The layers of spikes do 1/8, 1/6, and 1/4 depending on layers. What about SR + 2 spikes, or 1 spike + SR? I haven't done the calculations for Heatran so perhaps the change was unnecessary, but an easy trick to make sure you don't hit any of these intervals is just to make your HP odd (which was what I did here).
I can't believe the disrespect to pusle >:(
That electrode team but with serperior instead could function I think
Perhaps! It would probably be an improvement in most areas but the team would struggle more against Darkrai and Zamazenta.
I think one thing that I’m still not getting is moveset choice and speed EV’s benchmarks
For example, with the agility metagross you lower it from 239 (which I’m assuming is some benchmark idk) to lower than gambit but still fast enough go outspeed pult at +2. Maybe this is just an error of the team builder not telling you what benchmarks they’re trying to hit
And with movesets. Again with the metagross, what makes knock off better than bullet punch? Especially with booster speed mons everywhere 2 of which being valiant and boulder which don’t like taking a BP.
I know it would probably make the videos even longer but for me, choosing coverage and EV’ing is always the hardest part of team building since I always feel like I’m just always trying to hit everything all at once (4 moveset syndrome) so it’d be nice to get a bit more.
You're correct, I was a bit slack with the EVs and I didn't intensely think them through. I was structuring Metagross for it to be an Agility set, assuming that I'd be trying to sweep. That's why I dipped below 239. As for Knock Off over Bullet Punch, I figured it would be better to have some way for Metagross to have some guarenteed effectiveness against stuff like Corv / Skarm rather than having priority on an Agility pokemon. In the future I'll be making a full EV guide explaining how I EV pokemon and how to optimize! :]

Honestly I'd say Forretress is a LITTLE better overall but in the context of that team I'd rather keep Plusle.

Do you think Scizor is viable in OU right now? You think a team could be built around it and be successful at the higher level?
Scizor is certainly OU-viable right now! It struggles somewhat due to the massive amount of Flame Body users in the tier right now, but it's incredible against HO teams and actually switches in on Kyurem which is amazing too.
@@pinkacross2042 thanks for the reply fam! I'm going to hop into the team builder and see what I can come up with. Scizor is my favorite Pokemon so it's nice to hear it has some viability right now! Love the content!

Thanks for sharing the team! This team of yours has too much power, and not enough speed or bulk. Hoopa-U and Raging Bolt can be relied upon as your main breakers, Specs Gholdengo can be replaced with a more defensive pokemon. To be honest, Ival doesn't fit particularly well here, having a booster Ival in the middle of a balance team that would appreciate consistent speed control is not ideal.
@@pinkacross2042 Thank you so much for the advice. I switched out booster with boots but I'm not sure what to replace gholdengo with, do you have any suggestions? You have no Gliscor answer currently, that's a major problem. I'd recommend going Specs Pult for immediate power, and having a last pokemon that answers Gliscor-- there's no easy 1-slot fix for Gliscor but you could run your own SD Gliscor or a CM Clefable.

Good point, probably should've gone Life Orb in retrospect. I'm used to Leftovers being a solid item on similar sweepers, but Plusle ain't taking any hits.
Hey pink! I was wondering do you think iron boulder will get banned?
No way. Iron Boulder isn't even particularly good in my opinion, I'd say B+ tier, maybe A-.
In UU yes
i'm new into competitive pokemon, can someone explain me what's the matter in changing the EV's in HP from 252 to 248? I really don't understand what difference it'll make
The short explanation is that uneven HP is slightly better against hazard damage, because hazard damage rounds down.
@@pinkacross2042 oh i see why now, thanks very much. also an idea of improvement to that sort of video is testing the team you've fixed right after it would be much fun 😊

Freeze Dry is 70 BP whereas Ice Beam is 90, a significant power difference since you don't always need to hit Water types. Kyurem also usually just clicks Ice moves anyway, making coverage beyond EP and Draco unnecessary.
@@pinkacross2042 I think it's better not to risk predicting wrong because most of the time one of these moves remains useless and with additional rock or psychoc or fighitng coverage Kyurem can threat more pokemon. But if you like 2 ice moves then it's fine

I call this team "Knock n' stock" where the plan is basically to make early progress with leading mandibuzz or donphan and trying to knock off as many pokemon as possible, while also either setting up rocks or poisoning them. Then finding opportunities to switch in sinistcha or suicune to set up on them. (Stocking boosts). Gambit and Zamazenta are there because they make for pretty good win cons or hit takers when nothing else is able to. Also gotta have some OU mons in the OU team.
Thanks for the submission! Why Donphan over Great Tusk?
@@pinkacross2042
TL:DR
Sturdy + People don't respect it (big mistake)
sturdy is good in order to guarantee rocks/knock/spin while also being slower than your opponent most of the time. Also people dont realize that donphan has 120 base attack and an uninvested earthquake still does quite a bit of damage. Also since its sole purpose is to set up and remove hazards, people tend to switch in their spin blockers. Which do not enjoy getting hit with a knock off, even if it isnt that threateninf.
First team straight out of gen 3
Why do you say Forretress is unusable? I love that pokemon both casually and competitively, yes it isn't very good at higher elos but it has an amazing defensive typing and it can hit pretty hard with gyro ball, explosion, curse, body press etc or it can be a great way to setup hazards it learns all of them except sticky web.
It's very much a noobtrap Pokemon. Thing is uber passive and invites in a lot of things that can just set up in its face. Other OU hazard setters can actually do things other than set hazards
"it isn't very good at higher elos"
That's the reason, like he said at the beginning
@@grunkleg.3110 Rapid Spin, Body Press, Thunder Wave, Stealth Rocks, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Volt Switch. You really want to be getting this thing off the field as soon as, if you don't it could royally fuck you up. Steel/Bug is amazing defensively and with Sturdy + HDB it's doing something to cripple your team or make way for something else that can.
The best choice? No. A good one if used right? Yes. It really depends on the defensive profile of the team it's being used on.
What reason is there to use Forretress over Skarmory in OU? Skarm has similar bulk and acess to hazards, but packs reliable recovery in the form of roost and an immunity to spikes/ground moves.
Forre may have spin but its unrealistic to expect to spin against the tiers best spinblockers, Gholdengo and Dragapult, because of its low attacking stats and poor special bulk.
If you're playing for fun it's fine to use, but Skarmory just does its job a lot better in OU.

@@Phoxation Thanks for the submission! Running toxic spikes on Glimmora seems a bit overkill-- and I don't think glimmora fits here, most of your team is structured like a balance but Glimmora is an HO lead.

@@dkeirrison788 When building around Hoopa-U, it's very important to have a good way to punish u-turn. I recommend Flame Body Heatran in particular. Your team also lacks proper speed control, I'd replace either Wake or Enam with something fast like Dragapult.
