You can also message me if you see me online on Pokemon Showdown, I'm always either on my Pinkacross account or Pinkacross Alt.
    Thank you to SDK04 for playing against me for that example game! The game was a setup to demonstrate the idea of midgrounds, and not an actual game.

    Something I'd like to clarify is that prediction IS NECESSARY SOMETIMES (especially when you're behind in a game). Mid-grounds will be a major part of your playing, but sometimes you will need to try to predict exactly what your opponent will do and punish it. Also, when making midgrounds sometimes you can't cover ALL options-- sometimes you just cover MOST of the likely possibilities. This is still almost always a better option than going for a hard read.

      I do that lmao. The points you lose on forfeiting a possible 100 turn win against stall are offset by the 2-3 games you could play in the same time. If you have a good wr%, FFing against stall is the best option for both players

    One of the biggest challenges for me was trying not to overpredict my opponent early game. Now, I try to do the obvious options early game, and do some potential predictions mid/late game, but always try to do something that will gain me progress.

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 4 měsíci +48

    As someone who plays pokemon showdown for fun, one of my biggest pitfalls is point 5. On several occasions, I reached rank 500 or so in a bunch of ladders (most notably NatDex), yet I was pushed out, and i was trying to claw my way back but I just kept falling and falling because of my impatience, which resulted me to fall from 1660ish all the way down to 1299, and now i'm trying to get a reasonable ranking again, by keeping myself more calm, but even then, when you know that you should quit, you just can't, and you keep dropping and dropping, and sometimes you just need someone to tell you to stop, no matter how angry you are, so thanks for telling me to try and calm down
    TLDR: I dropped 400 points of elo due to being unable to stop playing, so please just take a break if you are angry.
    EDIT: It also does not help I was using HO to get to that point and switched to self-made offense, which is harder to play as well

    As a former top OU ladder player myself, this is an excellent list! The first point is especially important, and can also be thought of as “positioning over prediction.” As you said, too often bad/mediocre players rely on aggressive predicts that only cover a simple, usually obvious, choice from their opponent instead of jockeying for positioning and gradually building up their advantage state until they are well positioned for a critical blow.

  • @someonespc269

    These are great tips! And they also apply to other competitive games as well. Such as: Knowing your options/resources, putting yourself in your opponents shoes, playing unpredictable, and knowing when to make reads or hold a lead

  • @KrazyKyle-ij9vb
    @KrazyKyle-ij9vb Před 4 měsíci +4

    This is really applicable even outside of PS. I see a lot of parallels with competitive Smash Bros, such as when to play safe/agressive, how to switch up the way you play your characters so people have a harder time knowing your plan/strategy, which characters are more/less forgiving and how much you will grow from playing them, and above all, keeping a level head and trying to cover several options with what you do (which is what I fail at the most). I think this is a good thing to watch even if you don't play comp pokemon.

    Pinkacross ur a legend, i was already a strong builder/battler but my structures were always so messy and lead me to build bad balance teams.
    Now after watching your videos I can happily say I was even told to apply got c/c on the ou offical forums! I can also happily say I am more comfertable building tons of more structures and breaking down which mon fits into which slot!
    I used this knowledge to hit 1800+ in ou ladder,(more consistently then usual) get top 30 in the uu ladder and hit 1400+ in uubers(this is around top 40 iirc?)
    I just took down notes on your videos talking about how to exactly build structures and it really worked out😂, considering i been doing comp since gen5 i was a bit embarrassed first(mainly was spamming balance and hyper offense, which made it hard for me to use something else), but having someone explain to you how you are meant to build certain archetypes is very helpful! I look foward to see more archetype break down videos from you!

    this is such a real video. i'm not an incredible player, and i haven't been playing much recently, but when i used to tryhard n shit, this stuff was very true. when you see players who are, like, making their tournament debut a lot of the time they're super solid players, but they constantly try to predict and a lot of the time its unnecessary. reading your opponent is a skill (sortof, imo its somewhat luck dependent and more useful in tours than ladder), but knowing the best midgrounds is really where pokemon skill is at. evaluating risk/reward of plays is also important and something that i'd like to improve at.
    also, i feel like a lot of pokemon is just the teambuilding. a ton of games are won/lost just in the builder. especially in tournaments, prepping is super important and i feel like the person who preps more wins like 70% of the time. that shit is super time consuming tho and if you don't have the energy for it, its joever.

    Great video! Responding to the last point, I think there's great knowledge to be gained from playing stall. For starters, a new player has little metagame knowledge, and stall teaches you what everything does. There's value in getting into the mid ladder even on a team that plays itself because you get experience with other people that know what they're doing instead of being trapped around 1100 because you don't have enough metagame knowledge to wield your Offense team.

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 4 měsíci +2

      True, stall can help a player learn what counters what and basic metagame knowledge. I'm speaking more about medium levels of play, but yes for lower play Stall can certainly teach patience, type resistance, and other important concepts.

    Long time lurker. Like your style man. Here's a team I had A LOT of fun with in nat dex
    Mimikyu @ Iron Ball
    Ability: Disguise
    Tera Type: Steel
    EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Trick
    - Curse

    - Play Rough
    Guaranteed to stop at least one win con. Baits ghost attacks
    Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
    Ability: Limber
    Happiness: 0
    Tera Type: Normal
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Fake Out
    - Quick Attack
    - Close Combat

    Ghost switch in. Big fan of fake out quick attack
    Glimmora @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Toxic Debris
    Tera Type: Grass
    EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Power Gem
    - Sludge Wave
    - Earth Power
    - Mortal Spin
    Consistently beats Dragonite that things EQ will save it after a boost. Pairs well with curse and fake out.
    Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Rough Skin
    Tera Type: Steel
    EVs: 248 HP / 220 Def / 40 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Earthquake
    - Stealth Rock
    - Roar

    Don't touch me. Dragon tail kept getting blocked by fairies.
    Araquanid @ Waterium Z

    EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
    Careful Nature
    - Infestation
    - Aqua Ring
    - Sticky Web
    - Dive
    Popular mon now, but used to be secret weapon. 2 rounds of infestation + dive damage can hurt things that liquidation would not. Z moves don't always fit in but this works, either as immediate damage or a physdef boost.
    Enamorus @ Heavy-Duty Boots
    Ability: Contrary
    Tera Type: Fighting
    EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Naive Nature
    - Moonblast
    - Mystical Fire
    - Earth Power

    They just know you're gonna be choice locked. Prefer tera fighting over stellar for the defense boosts and surprise factor.

    Pretty good video, I don't play OU but the advice in here is very solid for many different formats and games. As I watching this, I was thinking to myself "hey, this stuff about midground plays kind of reminds of decision making in card games and fighting games". Might hop into OU after you make that video on fixing up people's teams, there'll be something fun in there, I'm sure.
    With regards to point 4, do you think there's a point where a format is too fast for your normal play suggestions for when you're behind to work? I've been playing a few doubles draft with my friends and I've been wondering if a format like doubles where a game is frequently decided within the first 10 ten turns has time for that. I've got a bulky offence team setup for this draft, had a hyper offence draft last time, that stuff about bulky offence being harder than hyper offence has me a bit worried, lol

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 4 měsíci

      In some cases, when you're REALLY behind, the only way to win is to hope your opponent screws up, and making 'desperate' plays is actually correct since you have no other chance. I don't have much experience with Doubles, but due to how short Doubles games are I'd say one mistake usually puts you pretty far back to the point where you do need to make a hard read. I've watched some Wolfe VGC videos and he usually only wins games that start poorly by making complete reads.

    I think the hardest part of any gen for me is teambuilding and identifying team synergy, esp deciding EV spreads. I feel a little bad just verbatim copying some premade team especially because it makes you very predictable (as you mentioned) but it’s hard for me to tell what works in a given meta (especially since I haven’t really looked at competitive stuff since gen 6 lol). Anyway, this is a good video. The part about hax is definitely true since risk assessment is one of the most important skills for getting good at Pokémon imo. Moves like hydro pump are scary to use but it’s really about trying to position do you don’t NEED to rely on that to win the game. Sometimes it will just be the optimal move, but moves like hydro pump are ideal when you have enough tempo to just throw one out where if it hits you’ve gained more traction, and if it misses you’re not really hurting for it. Good stuff!!

      i tried making a balance-ish team since it is my favorite playstyle, but i have struggled in the ladder with it and i would love to know what the team is lacking or if it is just a skill issue on my end, my ladder peak was 1600 with an RMT i used
      Scizor seemed like it fit nicely in the metagame since it resists rilla and dragonite's priorities and could hit back with bullet punch pretty hard, especially to fairy types like valiant, enamorus and hatterene. it has enough speed to outspeed max adamant speed gambit
      then i tried to center the team around that by having a lot of pivot moves in gliscor, primarina and walking wake, apart from scizor himself.
      Gliscor and primarina form a pretty nice defensive core, with gliscor taking physical hits and primarina taking special hits, while covering each other weaknesses pretty well, only weakness that isnt covered is grass, which is x4 resisted by gliscor so. Gliscor can setup spikes and soft check gouging fire, which is a problem for scizor, and primarina can tank amazingly and hit pretty hard as well, 2hko a lot of the metagame, it also checks volcarona amazingly, since it cant break through prim, even with giga drain.
      Great tusk is the defacto spinner, i opted for knock off since the only other knock offer in my team was scizor, which felt unreliable.
      Gambit has the role of late game sweeping and cleaning with the bonus of being a consistent ghold check, it also offers priority in case scizor dies.
      With so many dragons running around, i wanted something that could deal with them, but also had enough speed to pivot back in case it needed, so i opted for scarf wake, a pretty odd choice. It still hits pretty hard and matches decently into sun teams.
      If someone else that isnt pinkacross sees the team and wants to offer advice, i will gladly take it.
      Also i made this team around a week ago but havent been able to test it much due to personal reasons, so some things i said can also be innacurate.
      I like the team and i would like to know how to improve it and improve my skill as a player by knowing what i was doing wrong.
      Thanks for reading

      I wanted to build around H-Electrode and decided to support it with Grassy Terrain. In grassy terrain, modest choice specs chloroblast hits most targets hard while still outspeeding alot of the OU metagame. The inclusion of wish pass alomomola is to provide means to keep electrode healthy so it can repeatedly click chloroblast.

    You have absolutely no idea how much it validated me to see stall all the way to the "easy" side of the difficulty chart. It drives me insane to see people on the ladder acting like they're god's gift to earth for stealing a team from highvoltage and changing one set. Like, come on-building the team is the hardest part of using stall and if you aren't even capable of that what can you actually do as a player

    Another team submission, the advice you gave me on the last one was really useful! Curious on your thoughts on this new team!
    The focuses primarily on the core of Glowking + Kyurem. Has strong immmediate power in Specs Kyurem and Band Rilla. Decent defensive core in Moltres and Glowking, and hazard removal and rocks in Great Tusk. Kingambit is just reliable glue.

      Also regarding the rain replay, I am aware of the misplay. I should have preserved tera fairy for Kyurem, and just gotten chip with Rilla, as Kyruem would have been able to outspeed Kingdra and live CC with tera fairy.

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks for the submission! This looks pretty cool. My main concern is speed control, your fastest pokemon being Kyurem might create issues even with double priority-- perhaps Specs Pult over Kyurem could be worth looking into.

    • @gregburden416
      @gregburden416 Před 4 měsíci

      @@pinkacross2042 Thanks for the feedback! Curious, is T-Wave on Glowking not valid speed control? Additionally, I feel that Kyurem typing is so useful in this meta-game, especially with how Ice weak the tier is. Would running scarf over specs on Kyruem solve this issue or would that jeopardize my breaking power?

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@gregburden416 No, Twave on Glowking isn't valid speed control. The main point of speed control is so that setup pokemon and speedy, powerful breakers don't get out of hand-- imagine a Specs Iron Moth is clicking Fiery Dance against your team-- you want something that can outspeed, not something that relies upon living a move to THEN apply the crippling blow. Scarf on Kyurem WOULD help with the speed but I think it would make your team too weak. You do have 2 priority users so you can give this team a go and see if it keeps working well! You could also try Booster Speed on Tusk for a 1-time immediate speed pokemon.

    Your videos have been a great help and I'm doing my best to adjust and frame this team to be keeping up and have been trying to find many alternatives, I've been thinking about going with a scarf or specs Goldhengo instead of Thunderus T and maybe trying Triple axle Meowscarada instead of Gambit, just to experiment. Hi! Again, incredibly helpful video. I never thought about the mid-ground play concept, that is very helpful to think about. I think I usually only think of one likely thing my opponent is going to do, and then respond to that, rather than thinking through all of their plays. Also, I made this team after watching your team building videos, trying to make sure that I had all of the necessary parts of a team. Some things that I think are lacking are: I am still not sure that I understood and used guaranteed progress correctly, I think I may have too many choice items (although it hasn't been a problem yet while laddering), and I haven't done an analysis of my response to common meta threats. With that said, here's the team. Excited to hear all of your critiques!

      Timid Venusaur outspends all paradox mons at +1 besides Iron Boulder. Walking Wake is my main breaker. Gouging Fire with Tera grass has helped me vs rain and Ground types. Spdef Mandibuzz is great for a ghost resist and psychic spam plus extra hazard removal is nice. Lastly Gastrodon is there to help out against water types too and can Tera fairy vs strong Dracos if Mandibuzz gets too hurt

    For details, Glowking has 156 def EVs to avoid a 2HKO from 4 attacks Zama’s Crunch and I chose Tera Fighting since it allows the team to pivot around Darkrai without leaving me weak to Sludge Bomb like Tera Fairy. I chose Raging Bolt since I needed another pivot and a bulky fire/water resist with Electric Sucker Punch. Also it just synergizes well with Meow and Zama.

      this team started off with meow and gliscor because i believe that these two are really strong in the current format. after meows buff with gaining triple axel, nothing can wall this guy. with flower tricks guaranteed crit, knock off and triple axel, meow puts alot of offensive pressure on most of this formats threats. with its sheer power and choice band, it acts as the physical wallbreaker for this team. gliscor has always been a very powerful spike lead with poison heal and very respectable physical bulk that walls lots of threats in the format such as iron boulder, gouging fire, etc. ive added knock off since gliscor lost roost and more knock off support never hurts so i dont have to make aggressive predicts because you can never go wrong with knocking off an opponents item.
      after those two, i knew i was gonna go with a balance team and was probably gonna go with hazard stack. im gonna need a special wallbreaker and i originally had raging bolt in this slot. but after some testing the team felt really slow, so i replaced it with darkrai. im running wise glasses because people always assume darkrai is choiced, so switching moves to surprise opponents is really helpful. darkrai is also much faster than raging bolt so this solves that issue
      since i knew i was gonna go with hazard stack and with 2 of my team members being weak to ice, i felt skeledirge to be another obvious choice. fire ghost is very useful here as it resists ice as well as acts as a spinblocker to things like excadrill and great tusk. i went with skeledirge instead of the more popular gholdengo because i felt like i needed a better defensive backbone here as well as an unaware pokemon due to the sheer amount of set up pokemon now such as serperior and the aforementioned ice resist so i dont get swept by things like kyurem. tera fairy is really nice against great tusk to further wall them and helps with just removing weaknesses such as against gliscor or primarina.
      this team was really weak specially and id really like another ice resist. since i already had a grass and a fire type, adding a water type would really help defensively. toxapex felt like a great answer with its water and poison type to wall fairy types as well. i didnt opt for assault vest as i wanted to have haze so i didnt always have to rely on skeledirge for unaware and i also feared stored power. i also wanted to run toxic spikes to combo well with the hazard stack idea of this team and skeledirges hex.
      the final member ive added is skarmory to better round out the team. skarmory is one of the best hazard setters and ive opted for rocks instead of spikes here since i already had spikes on gliscor. skarmory helps wall fairy types and adds a ground immunity to help out in situations against ground types when i have skeledirge in. it also isnt weak to ice which really helps out the team. i run the standard iron defense body press here but ive opted for whirlwind as people dont really expect it and try to set up on skarm. it also helps rack up damage with all the hazards we're setting up with this team.
      thats it! really hoping for some feedback on this and appreciate the videos you've been pumping out lately! keep up the good work man

    These videos are always super helpful. I think the aspect I struggle with most, however, is getting a functional team. I prefer playing Balance/Bulky Offence, where I have a mix of offensive and defensive mons, because that allows me to adapt to most different playstyles.

      The main core of this team is Raging Bolt + Slowking-Galar. As you can probably see, the idea is to set up snow with Chilly Reception, and then use Weather Ball to lure in ground types and demolish them (I find that few people expect Weather Ball on a team that doesn't seem weather-specific). I have just enough speed on Raging Bolt to outrun an uninvested Gliscor, so if that's their only ground type, I can afford to Calm Mind on the switch. If my team does get chosen, this is the main part I wouldn't want to change.
      From there I added Hatterene as a form of hazard control, speed control, and a possibly dangerous sweeper. I've seen a lot of success using Hatterene, so I didn't hesitate to add it. After that I needed something fast, preferably a physical attacker, so I went for Meowscarada because I wanted to try out Triple Axel on it.
      After that it got a bit messy. I wanted a steel type, so I went for Archaludon (partially new toy syndrome) and then realised I had no ground/electric immunity. I also needed immediate power. So I filled up that role with a Banded Landorus-T.
      The second half of the team is definitely entirely changeable, but I don't really know what to do with it. My team has some level of success, but it doesn't feel like it's performing as well as it could be, and that's holding me back/
      Thanks for taking the time to read this. Fingers crossed I get picked!

    This video is actually super nice for mid level players trying to climb ladder in basically any tier which is really nice! Tip 3 especially is really important since you have to take into consideration at all times that this is a heavily luck based game, and instead of blaming the game, you should play in a way that guarantees certain situations and win cons. I think it would be interesting to see more videos along these lines, and the idea of reviewing viewer submitted teams is really cool so I decided I might as well share one of my own.
    This is a team I made shortly after the second DLC and while I think it's solid, I think it definitely needs work so I would like to see what you might change about it. The main thing I'm worried about is enamorus feeling tacked on, and if it would be better to run a more traditional special kyurem set, so I'm curious to see what you think if you are willing to check it out. Thanks!

    Great Video, I found it very informative and I love the style.
    Just one question.
    Do you believe there is an inverse relation between how easy it is to play with a certain team style, vs how easy it is to build it? For example, would you say that it is very easy to play with stall, but hard to build, or that it is very hard to play with offense but easy to build?
    The idea behind this is that on some playstyles, you already thought about the scenarios on the teambuilder and you play accordingly, repetitively, while other playstyles don't have a "guide" for how you should play in each scenario, and multiple reasonable plays are possible.

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 4 měsíci

      I'd say the relationship between ease of building vs ease of playing is pretty much unrelated. The easiest playstyle to build is probably Hyper Offense, which is also one of the easiest to play. Stall, as you said, can be quite difficult to build well, but is very easy to play.

  • @yeeticus6519
    @yeeticus6519 Před 4 měsíci

    Made this team following your anti stall vid, used your Valiant and Glowking sets alongside some common but proven effective sets for the rest, only real major flaw of the team I feel is the lack of priority which is why I had raging bolt in place of tusk for a while, but I found it too easily countered by ground types. Would def love some feedback though.

      My goal when making this team was to simply make a solid balance team. Meowscarada has been my favorite Mon to use on balance this generation, so I started there with a basic boots 4 attacks set. Meowscarada’s main role is to apply pressure and for switch ins into things like Skarmory, Corviknight, or whatever their physical wall may be. I mostly find it using U Turn to bring in Kyreum. I personally believe Kyreum to be the best nuke in the tier right now, so I decided to go straight up choice specs. I have found that these two with the addition of Enamorous apply a crazy amount of offensive pressure. So next, I wanted hazards. That way for the mons I may struggle with, they would have to fear spikes. Iron boulder was a huge threat, so I decided I’d use iron press skarm with rocky helmet. It also helped with rillaboom, gliscor, dragonite, and weavile. I paired skarm with great tusk mostly to have an electric immunity and a spinner. 40 speed Evs on tusk is to always outspeed Kingambit. Lastly, I noticed a major Kyreum weakness, so I went with Primarina. I know it’s weak to freeze dry, but honestly I’m not sure how to deal with Kyreum, this was the best I knew to do lol. It also gives me some more switch initiative and is a solid check to special dragapult and can eat a hit from non EQ Gouging fire.

    Interesting video pink. This is a team that i play with that is consisting of lots of boring good mons. However, only dragapult is non-conventional as it runs choice band with will-o-wisp.
    I really hope you can give me insights of my team especially any weak holes that this team is susceptible to.

    This video is pure gold, I sit around 1700s in both OU and Nat Dex, and something i've noticed is 1500-1600 is kinda hard due to people there making a lot of hard reads or playing really aggressively (and also sometimes using weird sets) making them harder to predict. Once i hit 1700s or close to 1800s i feel like people are easier to predict lol. Anyways here's my submission :)

      This is the case in every game ever. If you’re a good player, the higher you get the easier the games are (besides the low ranks) because people play the game correctly and the same as you. So they’re easier to read. And the climb to get there is very difficult without adapting your playstyle to fit the rank. When I was 1400-1550 people were playing extremely aggressive to try and hit leaderboard (1630) at the time, while people in the low 1600s played extremely safe to try and stay on the leaderboard. But once I hit 1730-1900 people played normal, like themselves and their team. My peak was 1823 in NatDex gen 8 which was good enough for 7th at the time.

    Hi! I took your advice for teambuilding in a new meta of "If you feel like throwing an Alolan Ninetales and five new pokemon on a team, go for it" and slowly rotated pokemon out until I ended up with something resembling this team. I then decided to remove Alolan Ninetales and, with a little messing around, arrived at this.

    Hello! This is a hyper offense team built around scizor with which I lately have had a lot of success (I have reached1500 for the first time). Scizor acts like an alternative priority revenge killer who also serves a lot of raw power in the form of stab u-turns and close combats. Then I added scarf walking wake for speed control and for the quadruple fire resistance, next, I slapped in volcarona and serperior, two powerfull sweepers that closed the grass water fire triangle. Finally, I added glimmora for the hazard lead and as a soft check to skeledirge, and Iron boulder, who's another check to fire types (who counter both volcarona, serperior and scizor) but also flying types that resist both u-turn from scizor and leaf storm.
    Here's the team! Ty for reading all of that,

    hey, just started competitive recently and I decided to try my hand at teambuilding with the indigo disk dlc dropping so this is basically my first team and also wanted to have some fun w sun. My idea was to make a great tusk lead that reliably beats ribombee and a-ninetales leads by spinning once then brickbreaking/headlong rushing. Other EVs were thrown together to face off against top threats PRE indigo disk though, so i admit its an oversight on my part. Enam and slowbro feel like they could be doing more most games(kept them because i felt i needed special walls) and im not sure if its a me problem there or I could have better options instead. Long excuse for skill issue aside, heres my team

    I have a couple questions
    Wouldnt you just lose if that garg was curse?
    Second question: let’s say i had a weavile out against an iron valiant. Triple into shard kills, its 6-6, i have a glowking so the knock is obvious but i also have a skarm but i would lose alpt of value if it lost its helmet. Would you risk staying in?

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Před 3 měsíci

      First question: Probably, yea-- these teams were just dummy teams created for this situation, they weren't built to be used on ladder.
      Second question: No, I would not stay in. People don't usually make hard reads that could lead to a pokemon dying early in the game.

    I've been fumbling around the 1400s with this sticky web team I made and I would love for you to improve it! I really wanted to use Thundurus Therian on a team because its so strong and a sticky web team seemed like the best way to do it. Also, tera fighting on Lando is for the Kingambit matchup so if that looks wierd, that's why that is there. Thanks for the submission, and I'm glad you're enjoying the content! My main concern is that this team is very slow. Have you considered Dragapult over Raging Bolt? Your team has plenty of priority, an HDB Dual Status Hex Darts Pult would help with that and it works very well on hazard stack.

  • @Aviivix
    @Aviivix Před 4 měsíci

    Do you think maybe you could do a video summarizing the team styles? I think everyone knows what stall is, but the difference between hyper offense and normal offense? What exactly balance looks like? The difference between balance and bulky? An example team of each type (if that isn't too much work) would probably also help illustrate the differences

    Somehow the algorithm knew i was struggling to get out of the 1500s so and sent me here. I've been trying to figure how to progress further on the ladder and this has really helped! Been playing for a long time and seeing stuff like this helps. Definitely got a subscribe from me. Keep doing what you're doing and thank you for your effort to help us all!

    Sorry I play stall. I do play balance in nat dex ou, but it is because there are way more chances there for people to react wrongly to my defensive Pokémon. Hence I can punish them with very strong offense.

    • @bk169q
      @bk169q Před 4 měsíci +1

      It is also worth noting that it is easier to punish misplays in nat dex ou as the power level is higher.

    - Encore

    - Stealth Rock
    - Trick
    1: Agni's Assurance works like a reverse Pursuit, but higher power and harder to pull off. If you have hazards up on enemy side and force a switch, you can be Assured you'll do a lot of damage to them. Yes it hurts to lack Ice Shard, but Assurance hurts them harder
    2: Fiona is hilariously the most annoying thing ever for people to fight. HO mons love setting up on her only to find they always move last w/o an actual priority Move.
    3: I tried Iron Defense over Whirlwind on Graphite; I found myself needing to whirlwind out Zamazenta more than anything else
    4: The team has plenty of weaknesses but it sure gets by with bulk, forced switches, and surprise factors from Wayne and Fiona.
