Unfortunately we live in a time where stats define you as a player. Players are judged for their stats and youtube highlights. Scholes is so unfairly disrespected because he didnt score 250 goals but he was literally the engine of a united side that won a dozen premier league titles. Players that have “it” don’t need stats to prove their greatness. Zidane, xavi, iniesta, modric are just a few.

I think what is destroying Mason Mount is that he has playing out of positions for years now. We all know how good Mason was when playing CM/CAM in a 4-3-3 but anyways that's not what the fans want hear.

I agree with sharky.a bit. Modric is up there as one of the greatest CM all time. We’re talking 10 years of top level consistency. His complete game is unreal, xavi iniesta may have had stronger peaks but they could never give you what modric did and still does. We’re talking work rate, with the long ball, intelligence, positioning, tackling and interceptions, dribbling, dummies, 1v1 defending, passing percentage, tactical fouls and athleticism. I remember 2012 euros vs Spain for example he really took it to that midfield and he was pretty much alone. Modric has been at his peak for 9 years straight playing lights out football. But just talking ability in their primes we got some other guys who took it to another level. But if you were to pick an all time 11 modric is a smarter pick than most midfielders because he has no weaknesses and you cannot press him; too quick on his feet , too much intelligence never makes a mistake.

Kroos is a tricky one, he should be in that conversation as well, he was pivotal in every UCL he’s won and even the world cup but he’s not an eye catcher, you won’t even notice he’s playing at times. He wouldn’t be outrageous to include but again, he wouldn’t make it over Xavi or Iniesta

So this he was awful is a myth he was even better than Kane in games where Kane scored. However as a Chelsea fans I do agree Southgate should have dropped him and started Grealish because basing off the season Mount had I expected more from him in the Euros and he shouldn’t have been a starter. But anyway Southgate didn’t use Mount right at all the way he plays by finding spaces linking the midfield to attack like he did last season doesn’t really work when you have Kane dropping deep and Kalvin Philips with a long passing range most of the attacks bypasses Mount making him ineffective and useless so he definitely shouldn’t have started.

Tammy was more before the lock down and Giroud after and Chelsea fans both appreciated their efforts. In our Cl group stages Werner and Giroud played a massive part also against Atletico.
