Yes, getting tired during boot camp is real. I was a victim of brain washing by one of the RCs. We had just started going to classes and on one of the days it was right after a meal. The RC told us he knew we just ate and after a big meal you want to sleep and to stand up if you have a problem. I had never gotten tired after eating a large meal until after he told us that. I thought to myself.. "ya, I am kind of sleepy." To this day if I have a very big meal I feel tired afterwards and it was all that RCs fault! Been checking out your vidoes and they are awesome, I love the pros - cons aspect. Your videos give me some good Navy nostalgia!
The Official Dave Harris Bootcamp wasn’t really too hard.... it just took time to get adjusted to “ no petty Officer” “aye-aye chief”....then please don’t be the guy to call a senior chief a petty officer💀💀😂
Larry Broddy lmao..that is so true. Yes please don’t call a senior Cheif a petty officer..lol. It’s crazy because the fleet is totally different from bootcamp.
My son is scheduled to go down January 13 from Alaska. 19 years old and I’m excited for him. I told him to meet with an Air Force recruiter to feel what they had to offer but he already made his mind up; Navy.
Red Salmon to be honest I was the same way. My cousin tried to get me to join the Air Force but I didn’t listen and went navy now I kind of regret it. The navy has a lot to offer tho!!
The Official Dave Harris He’s young and his time will go by fast. I hope he focuses on everything the Navy has to offer. Regardless I’m still proud of his choice.
Worst part for me was probably the inspections. Mainly just standing still the whole hour or so of the inspection. Staying awake was definitely hard to especially the first few days or the day after having 2-4 watch. But overall bootcamp wasn’t very hard just a lot of stress.
I get anxiety so sadly its not for me dont like to be around groups of ppl and being told what to do most of the time. Also the type of ppl you have to deal with if they are annoying.
I'm shipping out on Aug 5! Signed the contract earlier this year and the time has went by so fast. Thank-you for all the advice and information and good luck on all of your endeavors.
To be honest, for me when working i can't be bored and it would hard to get tired when you get into training so I'd say my main problem would be exercise and possibly remembering orders.
Hey man..been following your channel, ima ship out on aug for boot camp..having a hard time on running 😆 any advise or technique in running?like on breathing or something..thanx man
Hey Mr. Harris. Great videos. As a Culinary Specialist, do you need any security clearance? If not, do you need to fill out the SF-86 to be a CS? Keep up the great work and thank you for your service to our country.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 Thank you so much for your response. I know that in any military branch in order to get a SECRET clearance, you must fill out the SF-86. My recruiter is new and it seems he does not know much. You are much more informative. When you enlisted, which background form did you have to fill out? Did you fill out the SF-85 or SF-86? I want to go in as a CS and would like to get started as soon as possible on the forms because the SF-86 is almost 150 pages long! Thanks again and I hope to hear back from you.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 Good evening Mr. Harris. Thank you for your response. There is no need to trouble yourself and find out. I appreciate it. I have been running around and getting my documents ready to apply. Mr. Harris, you mentioned in one of your videos that when you are underway, you work every day. I saw a video of an LS in the navy who mentioned she went underway for 60 days. Does that mean that you as a CS would have to work every day for 60 days straight if you are under way for 60 days? Also, how many times have you gone underway and for how long each time? Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope you and your family are doing great.
Eric c yes every rate works every day out to sea. For CS it’s 7 days a week so get ready we work 14+ hours everyday out to sea. We was out to sea for 90 days and work every single day. It’s mother else to do but work really. It depends on the ship home many time you go out to sea it can vary weeks months days.
I’ve been wanting to join the Navy because i’m young only 14 years old going into Freshmen year in Highschool. When I told my dad who is a current Petty Officer in the Navy he told me about joining the Air Force because it’s easier. Is this true?
The Official Dave Harris Probably might join ROTC for Highschool don’t know🤷🏽♂️, He also told me that if I go into ROTC that I’ll get like a head start & it’s better than joining later on.
Hey Dave, I want to enlist but I have been struggling making up my mind. I don't want to waiver I want to be certain so I'm trying to absorb as much information at the moment. My biggest concerns are probably quality of life, I just found out that some sailors are not even guaranteed a barracks room? Instead they live on the ship even when docked at home port, is that what's common? Also about the long stressful hours, are you always working 24/7 for the entire enlistment.. I'm the type of person that likes to balance my life, work, working out, and having some time for myself once in a while. Do you think by being this type of person I would struggle the Navy? I know it's about perspective but I want to ask for the opinion from someone who is actually enlisted.
Kassie A yes it’s common to no get a barracks room and live on the ship while it’s in port. Especially if that ship is about to go on deployment soon. I spent my first 6 months in the navy living on a ship then we went on deployment. You could get a place out in town but you will be paying out of pocket and won’t get paid extra for it. Whenever the ship is out to sea you will work 24/7 but whenever you are in port it’s like a regular job you will have days off and work about 8 hours a day depending on your job.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 Thank you for responding honestly, I appreciate it. What do you personally think of FTS in the navy? Kassie A I don’t know much about FTS but what I heard is that they don’t have to go on deployment unless they want too and it’s like being active duty but without some of the BS we go though.
