Quite possibly the best "how to get a professional bodyshop look at a carport price" video out there. Im glad to see someone else that prefers rattlecans over spray guns. And you gave every tip and trick i know of and then some, from clearcoat+hardener to warming the can up before use, you gave all the best info and delivered it quite efficiently. This should be a role model for other how to videos tbh. You keep doin what you do bro. Much love and upmost respect. Thank you.
Good job as always James keep up the good work. And appreciate the time you take away from your family to show/give us tips and ideas of doing things a different way.
You show me any other CZcams creator that prefers to shoot his paint from a rattle can? This creator is awesome. Everyone doesn't own a compressor or air spray gun. Most don't want to invest in that equipment. This creator shows it can be done with great results on the cheap. This channel will blow up soon. I love it.
I prefer to spray with cans over a gun most of the time for a couple reasons. 1. Cost. Especially with trial and error with mist coats of metallics over standard gloss, or combining colors.
czcams.com/video/siPpwFu6lO8/video.html
This is purple gloss and cobalt blue metallic sprayed at the same time, crossing spray patterns to blend the colors while spraying.
2. Been my practice for a few years, so familiarity
3. A lot of time, im doing smaller projects, so clean up after is easier. Cans back on the shelf or in the trash.
Typically with larger projects (cars/bikes) I'll run a gun for the clear coat or if I want to add a pearl or flake to paint job.
@@crackerican69 individual panels are fine for rattle cans but doing an entire car your better off going for the gun.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else is searching for painting a car with can spray paint try Bablim Paint Booster (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got great results with it.
I rattle canned an entire car and it looked pretty terrible.
@@Lincolnator721 It's too hard to keep proper pressure on spray cans. This ended up looking good, but anything larger than 2x2, most people should just get a gun or hire it out.
By far the best DIY spray can paint job I've watched, even if its just a demo. I already know most of the tricks and stuff that you talked about but its ALWAYS nice that you actually mentioned all of it. I like how you discussed the cons of doing this and how its to be expected because it isn't an actual paint booth. Awesome video.
That looks amazing can’t even tell the imperfections when someone looks at it driving by!!!
That blue metalic is awesome, great job.
Factory restored . It's the shine that gets me
You are a dam good painter looks great.
This video came just in time! I’m getting ready to do something like this today! 👍🏻
Well I started to watch one of your clips and now I’m subscribing! Thank you for the time you put in to these videos because I have leaned a thing or two from them!
i watch your videos all the time to teach me before my first time spraying a car. been following for months, been watching for months. I really respect your channel bro, everytime I watch the same videos over and over I eventually learn something new. Like this video, never heard you say 2x clear chips and shit over time, almost bought twelve cans of it today at home depot lol
Good video, man. Nice to see Rustoleum noticed how much you're doing for them
Excellent job. You have convinced me to do my car. Thank you.
We used to spray paint engine parts on cars 20+ years ago using rattle cans to make the engine bay look cool ,clean and colorful. Also used the Wagner electric power sprayer on cars back then and wet sand and buff afterwards to keep things cheap for us broke a$$ hot rodders . JC Whitney parts ordering was a regular thing back then as well as Summit Racing and Jeggs.
You do great work and your detail explanations are awesome 👏🏼
Angel Perez Thank you I try!
Awesome work! Thank you for taking the time to share your paint methods with us.
Dude, it looks fantastic, great job!
You, sir, are a spray can maestro! Looks awesome as usual.
unstablebobgable Thank you good sir.
Just what I was looking for... Thank you. I just repaired front driver fender on my 07 G5 from a deer hitting me. Thanks again
I’ve been watching your videos for the past couple of years and recently my friends car had a small fire in one of the headlights. Ended up using your advice on spraying the fender and it turned out perfect. Thank you for teaching me how to do this
Best job you've done imo. Thst 2k clear really makes it look incredible
Great job! Seems like an honest guy, too.
Love your videos and you really helped me out a lot thank you 🤙🏽
No problem glad to help!
Looks really good man!!
Just wanted to say thanks for the video! Did our golf cart the way you showed and it turned out great! And I saved a ton of money as the best quote I got was $750 and I spent less then $300 for the whole job! Great video!!
👏👏Very good work with the sprays.
Hotdamn everytime I watch your videos you inspire me more to do mine
jason griffin I try to help the best I can!
Nice video bro you got straight to the point and less talking we need more videos like this 👍
Great job, nicely done video. Well explained, interesting and easy to follow---thanks!
As aways love your videos that
looks awesome!
Wow that was a great job, now I have to change my wheels colors! 😂😂 Thanks a lot buddy 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Incredible!!! Good job!!!! Keep up the good work
Damn I'm in love with that cobalt blue metallic color!
Thanks dude. The only thing I didn’t have was the 2K clear. It’s not easy to get here in Hawaii. So I used a clear from rustoleum. I followed your directions and the paint came out great no tiger stripe or over spray. I am happy with my paint job.
Looks great! thanks for the vid James
No problem! Thank you
excellent way of partial paint after rust repair. This convinced me I should do it myself
The exact 2k clear i used

Hey man! I love the videos! Hey I don't know your situation or anything, but Amazon has the same 6-pack for $102 Prime, or $96 free shipping from one of their sponsored vendors (R&E Paint and Supply), rather than $132 on that eBay link. I'm not trying to dog on you or anything like that at all. Was just curious if there were better deals out there.
David Berger Good to know!
Whoa!!! Loving this! So stoked to attempt it....
YESSS!!!! Love your vids.
Just wanted to comment and say thank you for sharing your experience and tips with us. These types of tutorials with honest results gives me the confidence to practice and try these techniques myself. Again... Thank you!
P.s. can you maybe share some "candy paint" vids
Man you do really great work!! It’s surprising to see what you can do with a rattle can!
This video helped inspire me to paint my 1991 Toyota Pickup Extended Cab 4WD! I learned alot along the way with ups and downs. Lots of HARD WORK in the prep! Just wanted to say Thanks for James Dguy for this video and for helping me paint the truck of my dreams!!! If I could I would add a before and after pic but it doesn't look like that's an option. I got quotes of around $4,500 but did it myself all rattle can style for $725. Thanks man!!!
Well done, Looks great!
Nice job! found out that my Lexus has a very similar color and going to use it for some touch up spots thanks for the great video
Thanks for the great video! I learnt a lot.
I’m glad you mentioned the 2x from rustoleum. because that’s what happened to me it wrinkled up where I have to sand everything again for my motorcycle I was so disappointed. Thanks for your videos !!!
Good stuff man, great tips!
Damn if only you were closer to where I live, I would totally have you paint my car no doubt, love your work, keep it up!!!
Gee eye Joe I have had lots of requests to paint people car lately but with Christmas I was too busy but I wouldn’t mind. Where do u live? I’m looking to move outta Kansas lol
Oh I see but yea im from Minnesota and if you do plan on moving to Minnesota or anywhere closer, lmk I’ll be more than happy to let you paint my car.
@@JamesDguy Oklahoma ain't too bad😉less flat anyways. I was born in Kansas, now live down here. We have desert, salt flats, mountains, canyons ext.
Would it look better with wet sand and polish? What kind of paint was it?
Dave Logic With a wet sand and buff it’s amazing!
Good steady hand brother! Sweet color and came out dope!
LAV1320 Thank you 🙏🏻
Absolutely Beautiful! 2 THUMBS UP
Very good finish my friend I didn't realise you could buy 2k in spray can I will look into if they are available in Thailand as my Thai wife's car could use some restoration.
When I say good job it's with administration from one panel beater paint sprayer 40 years experience like you I sprayed my first car at 14 years old so watching you was a pleasure I will let you know if I get the gear here in Thailand to do the old Toyota up it's so faded and it's silver as you know not the easiest for spray can color but if I can find the 2k it should be ok
Thanks for sharing you have inspired me to get of my arse and stop saying I'm retired 🤣🤣👨🏻🔧👍
Nice job!
This inspired me to paint my GS400 the same color and then 2k it!
Thank you!!!!!!!!
great video, picked up some 2K clear this week!
Nice, this is the color I needed and cheaper than the duplicolor can I tried. I hadn't seen any Rust-Oleum metallic results till this
I dig it. Well done
Mr Ahhsum Thank you!
Thanks for posting it truthfully
I just got done painting a replacement fender the same color on a copart car I bought that 2K ain't no joke highly recommend it ✌
Where there is a will there is a way. You make awesome videos hope you grow well👍
love your job champ.
Very good job man thank you for this video!!!!!!!!!
Just ran across this video. I used the same products to make a Dallas Cowboys mailbox for my girlfriend. It came out awesomely!!
This is exactly what I needed to know. I'm gonna paint a mountain bike frame and didn't know if the 2k wouldn't react poorly to rustoleum metallic paint.
Thank you for the great tips my guy , used the same color blue on my ek 🤘🏼
Another awesome job!!!
Ralph Prez Thank you 🙏🏻
Just what I planned to do but I have my work cut out with a full size 93 gmc van, a little rust, alot of windows, roof vent, new cab visor etc. I'm going with the silver and 2K clear. Thanks for the reassurance that spray can will work. My compressor broke.
Im looking to do my golf cart during coronaviurus lockdown. Thanks for the video !!!
wow that color looks sooooo good
sirgallium I agree
I've used this color and it does look really good.
You give me confidence I can do this!
Awesome job!
wow wish i had seen this before i junked my 99 durango is was patriot blue mettalic but showing so much rust i just got tired of looking at it cause didnt wanna pay for a pint touch up or new panels had no idea you could do this with a spray can thank you so much for posting SUBSCRIBED can't wait to watch and learn more thanks again
That metal flake looks even, really good coming from a spray can. Didn't spray too heavy, the way it's supposed to be done... Nice.
Damn literally watching this a year to the date you posted it.... came out great
Geez dude. Your getting quite a crowd built up again! You deserve it!
AllOut Reaper I noticed that too lol and ya they only really like the spray can videos though but hey at least they are watching :)
Paint a whole car with this color 👌
Dude, you're awesome
Wow that looks great, almost like the OEM color- Captiva Blue Pearl. Great video.
BEST NOODLE REVIEWS Thanks! I think each can of blue flake was $5 so it would be awesome to do a whole car sometime. Might just have to do it
@@JamesDguy you've got me wanting to do my whole car. Previous owner of my Acura Integra did a basic single stage, no gloss, no prep, they just sprayed over and it's starting to chip. I really wanna do Rust-Oleum 2X white and go over it with 2K like your videos. But yeah, if you do the whole car, definitely need a video! Haha
looks really good
He should do the whole car that color! Really good work!!! Can you do one of the panels with flake??
Jose Dias That was blue metal flake but I agree the whole car would look good this color.
Looks really good bro
I painted my fender like that. Sealed off the area with plastic, wet the ground, sprayed it in the garage, Base coat, and clear coat. Came out just like using a spray-gun. I didn't have the special handle device for the can, though. The best part, the number of paint color, matched my paint perfectly.. couldn't tell the difference
Thanks for the content, bro. New subscriber.
Looks real good.
Thanks for the tips great job.when people look for perfection they need to pay 3000 for a perfect job
Doing my golf cart with the same paint and clear ... thanks for the video
Great job at " Title-ling " most of your Videos! I have checked out quite a few and it looks good! Hint, hint, hint... LOL
Oh man! Now thats the color going on my mazda!
Awesome job dude...
This is incredible man. I was watching your other videos and actually picked this color out last night for repainting my super duty! Thank you so much! You rock
Heck ya! Let me know how it goes!
Looks pretty good for can spray paint.
amazing video!
professional job! need more videos like this maybe next spoiler, bumper or doors?
Matt I have more videos just like this. Check my videos out
Great video 📹
Great job
Done very well !
Wow, sweet! 👍
Very nice!
Just subs your channel, brother. Your videos about this painting cars with spray cans helps me a lot & teaching me how to paint with spray can. Thank you & greetings from state of Sabah, North Borneo, Malaysia. 😊
Nice job. I like the color
This is perfect i was going to use this same color on my lexus!
I love how the color looks to be honest.
@@JamesDguy me too cobalt blue is one of my all time favorite colors on cars. And this gave me a perspective of how it actually looks on a car. And the G35 and my SC are both real rounded cars so this is perfect 😎
