    Always dampen/ wet the ground/floor in the garage before spraying to reduce dust contamination as you walk around and/or a breeze whistles through the garage.

    I painted a fiberglass boat with krylon fusion 5x adhesion and waited 2 days i thought it was enough time to dry and dulled it with 600 grit wet sand. I put on a urethane 2 part clear coat and within 5 minutes it started to wrinkle...i was extremely sadened.
    Now i understand that some base coat paints such as this krylon and Rust-Oleum spray can paints need at least 30 days to fully cure...hard lesson learned.

    Always use the SLOWEST hardener, and reducer, that you can get away with. Even if it means it takes a little longer for it to flash between coats, the slower the reducer/hardener, the more time the paint has to "flow" and settle leaving a much flatter surface. Also, in the event you are painting with the gun too far away from the surface, a slower reducer/hardener can help reduce the orange peel and dry spot issues... to a degree. It is AWESOME that you were able to clear coat the Rustoleum paint. I'd be interested to see how long it will last on a daily driver that is exposed to the sun every day.. Only one way to know for sure-I gotta try it!

    • @BulliKid
      @BulliKid  Před rokem +1

Plan to do rustoleum clean metal primer, then their farm and implement paint mixed with some acrylic catalyst. I'd like to 2K clear over that. I'm hoping I don't run into too many different reactions or paint peel. I also have some epoxy primer I may try instead of the rustoleum clean metal primer.

    You should definitely sand it. The clear on the unsanded side will peel for sure. Single stage urethanes can be clear coated when still fresh without sanding, the recommended flash times vary but its anywhere from 1 to 3 hours afer spraying the single stage. Single stage enamels like rustoleum can be clear coated but must be fully cured and must be scuffed to get proper adhesion

    Paused halfway - I don't see the clear wrinkling (blisteing) at all! I bought some color change out the spray bomb from Walmart. Last night, I cut my trunk jam in... Went to look this morning and it looks crazy good! Looking straight on it's a heavy metallic blue. Look down across and it turns into a deep purple. Only thing is it's super super thin and you have to fog it on basically.... It's wild because being so thin one pass looks covered! You have to use a black base... My base isn't even paint. It's flat black primer! I'm going to let the aerosol out the cans and punch a hole in it and pour into the spray gun... I'll let it dry completely. Scuff the car with a scotch bright pad and use a universal clear... Because being I have to fog it on, it's not having a shine. It dries super fast and it's been 90-100⁰ this week so you can imagine... But I'm going outside now to tape off everything so I can do a test run on the trunk lid...... But I could not believe how much of a shift it does for it being a spray can paint from Walmart! 6 cans should complete it so that's about $70 and then I think the clear kit is $150 PPG Acme

Applied 3 coats of base and wet sanded it down just to remove rough patches. sinformant hmm. I think that’s a bad idea. I spoke with youtuber barbas life and he had wrinkles and a reaction after painting 2k clear over Rustoleum Shortly after. Went back out 4 days later and noticed the paint was soft and accidently scratched it. So I sprayed another coating and it all wrinkled.
      So had to strip it all off and I unbolted the part so I could lift it up so I could spray thinner coats as I could get to it easier. And that's been several weeks now. But I decided that I should probably clear it. Did research and got some Duplicolor wheel enamel clear matte.
      Then with that Rustoleum Husqvarna orange, I painted some test metal pieces and let it sit for a week. Then sprayed a thin coat of clear. Then sprayed a 2nd thin coat and it cracked the paint on my test pieces.
      So I thought either just not clear coating my project piece, or getting some 2k clear and testing it on a painted test piece to see if it cracks the color coat.

      Get a ws400..gun it mists on paint or clear coat amazing... make your clear coat med wet...and dont touch it up untill its flashed and ready for next coat.. golden rule for no runs.
      Keep your gun 6"-8"away from your work... or you get orange peeel if your toooooo far.
      In the cold weather i mix med and fast reduce for my frist coat of clear... the fast reduce helps tack up..
      Secound coat i use med or slow reducer .. so it lay down like glass...

      Yes a good gun helps a lot. The fine mist is the key. Out of my budget now and I am not doing any real work but in the future I will def get a better gun and compressor and filter.

      Still holding up good. I think if you sand too fine you will have this issue.
