A great tutorial. Thank you for that. I have a BMW I5. When using Apple car Play and Apple Maps wil it also indicatie when to charge (during a long journey)? And does it show charging stations and pre condition the battery when a charging station is chosen? As BMW maps does.
@@hs6745 SO the car DOES talk to Apple CarPlay, once charge gets low enough it will tell Apple CarPlay which will prompt you to find a charger nearby, same as if you were using gas only. The only thing that keeps CarPlay down on BMW’s own internal is charge planning on a long distance drive, BMW will take care of that for you where Apple CarPlay just simply says your’e low on charge and finds the closest charger. Other thing APple CarPlay doesn’t do is trigger the preconditioning for DC fast charging if you choose a DC charger in CarPlay. Supposedly that will all change when Apple CarPlay 2.0 comes out but no word on how/if BMW will implement that or allowed for some of those features to work with BMW systems as they exist now.
My apple carplay does not connect one out of every 3 to 4 times i get in the car. Sometimes when i click media it just shows me a blank home background. My car is the 2023 g20 330i LCI
That's an apple problem i guess. I have 2019 3 series and most of the time carplay connects but i can't use steering controls than i have to disconnect and reconnect carplay from settings.
@@stefanocavagnolo4788 So the 4k front facing camera based AR only works with BMWs own navigation… however Apple has introduced and BMW supports a 3D intersection view that works separately from the AR option…
Question: I have an X50e and with the automatic lane change assist, is there a way to make the change not so jarring and fast. It moves over like a crazy person would switch lanes lol...Can i smooth it out or no?
Hi. I had the same question for my local dealer (Slovakia, Europe Union) and the answer was “no”. Because second LCI gets new Hardware and the 8.5 works on android “background”. 8.0 works on own bmw system. But of course the dealer could be wrong.
@@alvarojimenez4106 Anndy8333 is right, the hardware is diffferent between the models that makes it so it can’t run it.. one correction is that idrive 8 and 8.5 are both Linux based systems.. only idrive 9 is an Android Automotive system in the background.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video....Appreciate it.
This was a great tutorial. I have been using CarPlay in my i4 for a couple of years and learned quite a bit.
Very helpful
Thanks very much ! Great help !
I have a 2024 m3 competition. How do you make m1/m2 buttons automatically change the gauge cluster to sport mode?
