    The origin was taken care of with a couple lines of dialog. "I got bitten by a spider."......."The spider is dead." Enough origin.

      J H When people refer to Spider-mans origin, they aren't talking about how he got his powers, they talk about how he learned to become a hero, who he has to be, and that's Uncle Ben and his death.

    • @jrhcreator
      @jrhcreator Před 7 lety +5

      T vampasta Well, if that's your argument then the boat fairy scene, the scene of him under the rubble, and all the father to son speeches that Tony Stark gives him would satisfy an origin as it relates to Peter Parker learning what it is to be a hero. So in a lot of ways, this film has an origin story. Perhaps just not the tired old origin that audiences are used to watching and reading.

    Why are people saying there is no Spidey sense? It is literally shown and talked about in Civil War. And even though they don't do the silly slow mo spidey sense we have seen before don't mean it is not there.

      it isn't emphasized. Almost as if being so young Spiderman doesn't really know he has it, and certainly doesn't use it like a 6th sense. It might be one of those things that he grows into.

      I never said he didn't have it, he just doesn't realize it yet. Way too many things happen to him as spiderman that he doesn't react to. How many times is he blindsided? Think the first time he meets the vulture as an example. chasing a van, not being shot at, then caught. somewhere he should have known an incoming attack.
      Also with the suit he may be confusing it with what the sensors are taking in. He certainly doesn't have the awareness to know where it is coming from yet. It is something he must realize and develop before it can really be called a "spider sense".

    I really do think this might be the best Spider-Man movie. I haven't seen a movie where EVERY joke landed in a really long time. Tom Holland IS Peter Parker! This felt so right! How it should've been after Rami's trilogy ended. Spider-Man 1 and 2 are still fantastic films. Nothing will change that. But no prior Spidey film ever had a Peter Parker that truly felt like a kid. Tobey was a high school senior for 5 minutes. Andrew looked like a 30 yr old man lol. Peter panicking when the roof collapsed was heartbreaking. That's what a kid would do!! Marvel fucking nailed it.
    New York felt like a character, Peter was nerdy, smart, and kind. And he felt like a real kid. I was super impressed with the changes made and the liberties they took, and the fact that I liked them all. How good was that twist?! There aren't many surprises for us comic fans, so that was fantastic. Vulture was a great villain. And I'm so glad they avoided the villain dying cliché. The ONLY thing I didn't like was Aunt May finding out in the end (though the scene was really funny).
    And please, PLEASE bring Tobey as Uncle Ben for flashbacks in the sequel!! They would be so stupid not to do it. The ultimate fan service!

      Spider-Man is probably the most human out of all the Avengers or Guardians. And that's a compliment. Made it feel real and I'm happy that this film is a heavily John-Hughes inspired comedy.

    • @nelspaulson3099
      @nelspaulson3099 Před 7 lety +7

      I personally think this is the best Peter Parker we get out of all the Spiderman movies. The other movies focused on the singular relationship with MJ or Gwen to make the point he is someone outside the costume. This movie doesn't fall into that same trap.

    • @halloweenfriday
      @halloweenfriday Před 7 lety +4

      Alex Love I totally agree! This is the best Spider-Man movie in a long time, because not only is it funny and full of action, the movie gave us a young Peter Parker struggling at being a superhero and a teenager at the same time. And Tom Holland is the definitive Spider-Man! The scene with him crying for help under the rubble is on par with the train scene from Spider-Man 2. Michael Keaton owned the role as Vulture! The Vulture is probably the greatest MCU villain ever, because instead of being a typical evil villain trying to destroy the world with a big blue light in the sky, he's just a family man doing these bad things for him and his family. The scene where he opens the front door was priceless, as well as Peter reacting to Vulture being Liz's father. Great moment! Unlike most fans, Zendaya being "MJ" didn't really bother me, because her real name is Michelle Jones and not Mary Jane. Her nickname was more or less an Easter Egg. Overall, best Spider-Man movie ever! Jon Watts put a lot of heart and effort into this movie. 10/10.

      It's common sense. Apart from the joke about "call me MJ" there is nothing about her character that is in line with Mary Jane. Mary Jane is not a creepy loner on the decathlon team. She's the popular pretty girl, the prom queen, the girl everyone wants. Michelle was none of that. The MJ line was a joke, nothing more.

    Is it possible that Michelle can be a new character made for the MCU? I don't think it's entirely impossible. As we know, Harley Quinn was first introduced in the Batman animated series and later added into the comics. Although Michelle's nickname is "MJ." she doesn't have the Mary Jane origin story. Marvel can possibly trekking new territory at this point. Michelle did mention she had no friends and then out at the end of the film she says her friends call her MJ. Could she have friends we didn't see in the film? (Miles. Gwen, Harry etc). All speculation, of course, but I just overall have a feeling Michelle might be more than just a future love interest for Peter.

  • @Ren_Davis0531
    @Ren_Davis0531 Před 7 lety +2

    I have no problem with changing up MJ. There are multiple takes on the character, and it's possible to make a drastically different take on the surface that still feels like an inspired take because it adheres to the spirit of the character. Ultimate Spider-Man plays a big influence in the film and that MJ is very different than the traditional one. Here, if they don't pull something where Michelle is MJ but not Mary-Jane, comes off very guarded, and that's important for MJ. Sure, Michelle has a different exterior shell that guards her inner emotions, but she still seems to paint over her problems by appearing to not care as deeply as she actually does, and that's the essence of MJ to me. The party girl stuff, ultimately, is external. You can get a MJ that still fills the same role in terms of internal character struggles, but different external characterizations.

Their was very little tony which was great, Tom Holland killed it as peter parker, Aunt may was excellent(still getting used to this version), Vulture was fucking amazing(Marvel have been on a roll in the villains department lately), And some of the casting choices for certain characters were straight up insane in my opinion i won't say anything for the sake of spoiling stuff but take a good look at "Flash" and "MJ"! Final score would be a solid 8/10

    Collider, as a huge Spider-Man fan, it was Betty Brant that Peter dated first in the Amazing Spider-Man series, they only had like two dates and realized that it wouldn't work out, then Betty ended up with Ned Leeds who is played by Jacob Batalon in this new movie. Then after that it was Liz Allan, then falls in love with Gwen Stacy, meets MJ, he goes back and forth with them both, but Peter goes with Gwen and MJ dates Harry, Gwen dies, Peter and MJ mourn their friend, they both become closer, MJ breaks up with Harry and Peter and MJ finally become a couple.

      WYATT BENDER Peter and Betty dated more than 2 times. Peter was in love with her. Betty ended dating and later marrying Ned Leeds (who wasn't Peter's best friend from high school. That's BS). Nothing happened with Liz and Peter. She was just the popular girl, who for some reason fell for Peter but never got anything from that. Peter meets MJ and Gwen, he falls for Gwen, later Gwen dies, MJ and Peter date but it doesn't last. Much much much much later, after dating Debra Whitman, the Black Cat and other chicks, Peter and MJ find temselves again, fall in love and get married

    REALLY enjoyed this spoiler review, thank you! I loved this movie and you could feel so much positive energy in our packed theatre - so much laughter and genuine cheering - not over the top excited cheering like screaming or yelling but pure JOY I think! If you had to twist my arm, I have one noticeable (just for me) negative - it has to do with weak score and I'm not including individual songs mind you - just the score, OST. After they brought back the "classic" Spider-Man theme music (which was really rather emotionally moving for me - it made me think of the significance of the Spider-Man standalone movie that is linked and included to MCU, it's really incredible) anyway, after the revamped Spider-Man theme there was nothing catchy afterwards other than individual songs, kwim? Even while we were waiting for all the end credits, the score was very un-memorable almost lousy!
    My smaller complaint is that I don't really "get" Zendaya's character UNLESS, UNLESS in the long game, her relationship evolves very slowly as described by you guys...over another 2 more movies...but for this movie, Michelle doesn't really make sense to me. But yea, holy cow! Tom Holland is extremely likeable, just spectacular in this movie! Michael Keaton is the BEST villain since Loki :) and so forth with the rest of the cast :-)

Tom Holland's acting was INCREDIBLE and I was honestly ready to jump out of my seat and reach for this 15-year-old KID and help him because it was so upsetting. been a long time since a movie got that kind of emotion from me.
    (And then my next favorite was when Peter walks out of the dance. Made the right choice and it was painful but I was so damn proud of him)
    This whole movie was AMAZING (lol) my ONLY complaint is that it DID feel too comicbooky ith Keaton kinda hams it up with that scene in the car (but it was also terrifying so) 9/10, definitely my fav superhero movie right next to Civil War.

    My favorite moments were 2 (among many) I agree with Hector on the Peter being pinned under the rubble, panicking and then having to talk himself through it. But the other one was the drive to the dance, and the conversation in the car. Watching the secret fall apart, Vulture realizing it, and then playing it off until he's alone in the car. Brilliant! And then in that conversation, this isn't an arrogant Tony Stark, it isn't a brash Thor, it's a 15 year old kid, and in that moment he's terrified and can't say anything back. And Keaton's Vulture is so straightforward with him "I'll kill ya. I'll kill ya dead and kill everyone you love." or some such thing and it's chilling. You can't even tell if Peter even sees the gun, it's just the tone of Vulture. Sooooo very gooood.
    EDIT: Oh and the very final moment in the movie was so reminiscent of the "I"m Iron Man" hard cut ending. Loved it!

Then in either the 2nd or 3rd movie she gets a makeover. Sorta like how you go to summer break and you haven't seen this person in a while then they come back to school and they have a whole new look. Then she be the glamorous popular girl/model, she may even get the red hair. So basically it's like she's trying to find herself in high school. I'm all on board for Zendaya as MJ. I have sense the rumors started.
