In this episode I answer some viewer questions about how I carry a pistol and the Appendix Inside the Waistband method of concealed carry. I’ll also show you the best concealed carry holster on the market, in my humble opinion. Do you think AIWB is dangerous? Watch this video and maybe I’ll change your mind.

Hands down the best appendix carry video I've seen here. Considering the source, not surprised. Tactical Girth...... Awesome!
Experience breeds "tactical girth" on the job. I wear it proudly.
@@tipsovr2626 Bad idea for your health and your ability to control/constrain an aggressor. It is nothing to be proud of when you lose control of or are outrun. If you cannot run a mile in 15 minutes and climb through a window, you should not have a job. My life expectancy as a correctional officer was 57. Many died soon after retirement. It is my 14th year of retirement. I plan on being retired longer than my career be staying healthy.
It definitely convinced me it is a useful option for which I want to get a holster.

Always carry if you're going inside of a Walmart folks, COVID is the least dangerous thing they got in there. Another OG pearl of wisdom!

Start a holster company called Tactical Girth, just like that old band of yours.
Practical carry for the plus sized.

@DannyBoy888
Good luck. I ordered a Hill People Gear chest bag to carry mine while hiking etc. Otherwise you’d probably want to try a custom kydex maker.

This is incredibly well done. I am a former SWAT cop in a Large Midwestern City.... I really have never considered Appendix Carry but after this, I am definitely going to give it a try. Again.... witty, funny, informative, and convincing.
Thanks Mark. Appreciate your comment.
I know this is coming very late, but here's the flaw of appendix carry: it doesn't work very well when drawing one-handed. The shirt tends to snag on your butt when pulling it up, and also fall over the back of your hand while drawing. Now imagine trying to do that under stress when an enemy is danger close. Meanwhile, at 3:00 it comes up cleanly, is pinned to the side by your wrist, and it allows you to blade off and guard with your other arm. It's a much more reliable way to draw when you're already in close quarters and allows you to delay your opponent from getting to your torso and getting a grapple. It also places your gun arm effectively out of reach. Appendix carry is, in my opinion, unsound from a biomechanical standpoint. I don't like the idea of having to rely on having both hands available to get a reliable draw under stress, and you shouldn't, either. If you're using one arm to guard, you can draw and shoot under your guard and they can't really do anything about it.
Best breakdown of AIWB carry I've come across, was good seeing a review of this kind from another person with "tactical cushion" which made it super easy for me to relate to.
Thanks, Norman. Glad you liked it. 😎👍
I'm in the UK, so carrying a rolled-up copy of The Times or a concealed spoon is the best we can do. Your channel is priceless, though. I subscribed for the comedy. Great job, OG!!
I’m still honored to have you aboard sir. Lots of Brits in attendance here. Thanks for watching and subbing! 😎👍

Be sure to apologize after saying “no!”
Always carry in Walmart, it's the probation department of retail stores.
I like that. Like how Chuck E Cheese is the parole office for child molesters and Raiders fans. 😂👍
Walmart’s in CA sound like hellscapes. Why live there? Our Walmart’s are super safe and even clean. Even at night.

@@countpicula Have you ever been to a Walmart ANYWHERE in a remote area? They are all full of trashy people. I lived in CA and the Walmart near me was nice. YMMV I guess.
@@OGsDangerShow yes those of us who've lived in Vegas for years are not happy about our new football team.
This is the most common sense video on appendix carry I've ever seen. I was afraid to do so before, but now, with some careful thought, I'm going to try it. Great holstering technique, reminds me of the samurai re-sheaving his katana. Great instruction and advice!
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.

@@OGsDangerShow You have a great personality for this, OG.
Nice job! The most useful info crammed into a short video that I've seen so far. Really nice. I've looked for many years for the "ultimate" holster and you've broken it down nicely. And I agree with you about AIWB carry. I've narrowed my collection of guns down to 5, and none of them have ever gone off by themselves. You talk like I teach my students: "in theory there is no difference between theory and practice...in practice there is. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for checking out the show, Rod. 😎🤟
Nice video and great tips. I particularly like the suggestion to be cognizant of the muzzle while reholstering.
A holster is a safety device - shrouded trigger, shrouded safety if the gun has one, and built of material that does not collapse.
Another advantage to AIWB is that the approach to your firearm is within your field of view.
For those who prefer scary old cocked and locked 1911's, if you need to reholster you can move your thumb underneath the safety and monitor it to make sure it stays engaged.
A Schwatz firing pin block is another good idea for 1911's. Reholster with pressure on the beavertail, not the grip safety, to leave the firing pin block (hopefully) engaged.

I never really considered AIWB myself until now because you covered all the concerns and provided good techniques for avoiding the downfalls of AIWB carry. All modes of carry have their advantages and disadvantages, but a good teacher shows students how to overcome disadvantages and use advantages. Thanks OG! Tactical girth FTW!

A wise man John Lovell once said “it’s guns it’s all dangerous!”
And thank God they’re dangerous. See the title of my show. 😎👍
@@OGsDangerShow DANGAAAAA ZONEEEEEEEE
If you follow John Lovell (WPS, WPSN), you know he carries appendix also.
So how easy is it to be sitting and standing constantly does it interfere or bother you for long periods of time? J 4 o'clock carry and have no issues in and out of the car and pretty much forget that I am carrying. Can the same be said about appendix? Just a question
@@eaglepasss3580 For me? Yes. If done correctly all carry positions can be comfortable. Drawing from a seated position appendix is much easier than strong side especially when buckled in a car. It’s the most comfortable for standing long periods of times but sitting isn’t a problem. I never understand why people think it’s impossible to sit you just sit like normal lol.
Great safety tips! Excellent engagement briefing as well. I am more convinced than ever that I would survive the inner holster carry.
The opening comment froze me in my tracks ... LOL!!!! Thanks OG...Just came across this video today and it's chock full-o-fun!
This is my pistol. This is my gun. This ones for punks and this ones for fun. Thanks Greg for the lesson today.
Very good advice! As a guy brand new to carrying I bought a very cheap universal, ambi, inside/outside holster just to see how I preferred carrying, and iwb up front seemed the most comfortable. Now I have a better idea on how to do so even more safely. Thank you!
Great video, best ive seen on the subject. While i am NOT new to carrying weapons, holster and design and construction and the daily ins and outs of carry, I found this video insightful.
After carrying IWB strong side for decades, i'm looking at AIWB to better deal with shoulder issues and quicker access.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the cool review, sir. Glad you liked it.

Thank you for this!! Awesome video! I’ve actually been looking into the Tier 1 holster for my canik tp9 elite combat executive, I’ve always carried a m&p sheild, so been doing some research with carrying the larger firearm appendix and as I have acquired some “tactical girth” myself in recent years this helped tremendously!
Awesome. Glad you like the show, Logan.
Veteran & former LEO, I'm at the age where my shoulders have become hurtful from abuse & age. I have a lengthy morning routine of stretches & exercises I do primarily when I get up but also throughout the day to alleviate much of the discomfort & maintain range of motion for my daily activities. It's like the carbureted cars that one had to warm up on a cold morning, a little rough at the start but fine after running fur a few minutes with the choke on. I'm in a concealed carry state so I primarily carry appendix. As OG says, it can be a very safe way to carry provided I follow a few simple rules. My EDC is my G2C 9MM with a manual safety; when holstered, there's one in the pipe & safety off. I used to carry IWB @4 o'clock position but sometimes drawing my weapon hurts my shoulders. Love the vids & keep up the good work!
I kinda like cross draw, when sitting a lot it is much more comfortable, doesn't require lifting the shoulder
Great information!~
That is all the agreement I need.
Be warned this guy's kinda a jokester.

AIWB shotgun carry for next video
Awesome video, OG, thank you for explaining appendix carry and showing that it is a safe carry position.
Ok you might have convinced me too try OG. Being a full figured fellow myself, this has been the best video I’ve seen.
I want to carry appendix, but I'm waiting until I can get a decent holster for it. The Crossbreed Reckoning holster I have right now seems to work best when worn between 3 and 4 o'clock with my body type. It says it can be used for appendix, but it's very uncomfortable.
Lol. I don’t really care. Spoken like a true brother.
I actually really appreciate this breakdown - considering multiple options for carry at the moment.
Thanks! I had NO experience with AIWB holsters. You are a GREAT teacher. I noticed it looks much easier to find the seatbelt release with the AIWB holsters. Thank you again
Glad you liked it, sir. Thanks for stopping by.
Great video. Very comprehensive of all aspects of AIWB. Gun, holster, gun belt, cover garment and how they interact together for the complete package. 😉 You even showed safety in the draw stroke, reholstering and body positioning while doing them. Sitting in the car while appendix carrying was very useful too. Thanks. 👍
Thanks for the cool review of my review, David. Glad you liked it. 😎👍

I dig this video! I, too, have a bit of a belly and have recently purchased a Tier 1 Concealment holster but was not having luck with it. I see you have yours mounted low so I tried that and it works great now. Thanks for helping.
Good video. Nice to hear a member of law enforcement explain the advantages of appendix carry. I agree totally about the benefits of appendix carry. It may not be for everyone, but it works for me, and I rarely carry in any other position. Actually it's a no-brainer for me. It's the most comfortable; the quickest, easiest access; and it is the most defendable position on my body should someone try to take the gun. But to your point, nothing is 100% "safe." Obviously, there will always be some degree of inherent "risk" when dealing with firearms. However, I'm a firm believer that there are no "accidental" discharges....just negligent discharges. That being said, anyone who feels it's not "safe" to carry appendix should probably not be handling firearms anyway. If you're stupid enough to have a negligent discharge, you have no business carrying or handling firearms.
I carry appendix and have for many years so clearing my “garment” aka tshirt is like 2nd nature, I start with my draw hand down by my pocket I swipe upwards with my thumb until I feel my hand under my shirt then I sweep across my belly to my appendix where my gun is I grab my gun then present the weapon. I only say this because I see people saying it requires 2 hands to draw while carrying appendix which just isn’t the case, some people will teach you to use your off hand to clear your garment while you draw just because it’s a good habit but it’s nowhere near a requirement you can easily draw 1 handed as long as you’re practicing.
*SoCal here; T-Shirt, Cargo Shorts, and flip-flops - I draw the same way. - it's very inconspicuous, and doesn't telegraph your move.*
*My hands go toward my pockets, my thumb just lifts the edge of my T-Shirt, slides across the back-strap, then down, and I got it in my hand.*
*I team that method with a minimal holster, if you can even call it that; [MiC Holster] --> **www.themicholster.com/store.php*
*BTW, IMO, it's safest off body draw, and re-holstering method possible.*
I carry at 3 O'clock and do the same move. From pocket level I hook my thumb under the concealing garment and onto the backstrap of the pistol. I do the same move to get my keys on my belt or the folding knife on my back pocket with the same hand. It's very natural after doing it for 20 years.
After watching this video I'm now considering an appendix carry rig, my only concern is using the restroom in a public place and still keeping everything out of the ignorant public's eye.
@@kevinsullivan3448 *Use toilet with a closed door, set it on the TP dispenser.*
*Never use urinals.*
*Best is a "Family" restroom, with a locked front door, and a changing table to set your gun on.*
*Only 1 person at a time = Prefect.*
@@kevinsullivan3448 I have no issue. Unzip and fish it out! You don't need to lift your shirt that high.
It works the same for tuckable holsters too.

Tactical girth.... My new favorite descriptor!
This guy deserves a show on prime time television. Informational, and funny as hell 🤣
Well done. Due to previous injuries, I use a different carry method. One must find what works best for them. Live long and shoot straight.
Great video, very interesting details, thank you. I like to listen and watch your explanations!
Thanks for watching. Glad you like the show.
I grew up and lived in Boston Assachusetts for 30 years. Carried down there for 9yrs, and Appendix was the only legit carry position I even could carry without having the cops called on me everytime I printed at 3 o’clock (it’d happened several times). When you’re surrounded by anti-gun nuts you have to improvise. Enter: Appendix Carry. I draw the same way that you do, but I’ve also trained so that I can hook my right thumb under the right side of my shirt, and draw one-handed, so that if I need my left arm to shield my face/throat I can. What are the odds, Tactical Girth was the name of my 90’s Electronica Band while I was getting myself through college 😏 Great video big guy! There are so many new shooters out there now, it’s good to see AIWB represented by the O.G!!
Thanks for the review, sir. Glad you liked it. Be safe up there.
Yeah, I tend to babble. Sorry O.G!
Thanks OG from an Aussie who can't carry but needs to know....have a merry Christmas to you and your family......😉
Thanks Brad. I think it would work for boomerangs too.
I've been on the fence about AIWB carry. As I also have some "tacticle girth", it seems to be the best for all types of situations whether sitting or standing or driving. I've tried 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock, but the pistol is harder to conciel and drive with, let alone present in a conflict if needed. Apendex carry feels more comfortable for me. Thanks OG for all the valuable information and for your service
Thanks OG just what I wanted to hear and see been carrying quite a few years at 4:00 o'clock but been thinking alot about appendix carry your tips made alot of sense to me thank you and God bless from Texas Veteran.
Thanks for your service Ig. Glad you liked the show and got some info.
“If it’s not for you, don’t do...put in a Taylor Swift CD”... 🤣👍
I carry in the small of my back, using a left handed appendix cross draw holster, which presents quite well to my right hand that way. It actually gives me some nice back support when seated, and doesn't print at all, since my untucked shirt hangs from my shoulders, and completely clears my 1911. The extra mag is in my pocket.
If you fall, you’re paralyzed
@@dogsduece
Unlikely.
It mostly rides over my left kidney. If I did end up falling flat on my back, it would probably hurt like hell, but snap my spine? I seriously doubt it.
The biggest problem I see with SOB carry is if you are in a fight and it goes to the ground with you on your back and your arm is behind you, you are screwed. Also if you are on the ground and ground fighting is not in your skill set, you may not be able to reach the weapon when needed, particularly if your adversary knows you are armed and is fighting for your weapon as well…
Best video on line for appendix carry, OG does not miss anything. Thanks for doing this, you just converted me to Appendix carry.

Best video I've seen so far on appendices carry. The re-holstering technique is really good.
I will be new to appendices carry when I get my new Tier 1 holster. The main reason for this is because I have been getting more and more uncomfortable with having just a compact pistol. With all the BS going on these days I want to carry my full sized 1911 for the accuracy at distance. Gregg, your comments about carrying a full size and how to carry it were very reassuring.

Definitely agree with this. I carry with tier1 in appendix every day using various pews. They are the best out there especially if you do physical work. Also, the smaller pew observation is very accurate. I find that I do more adjustments during the day but, it is comfortable. But I think a full size is generally more comfortable
"Tactile Girth" Yup, I'm stealing that one. "Tactile Cushion" this one too.
But OG you produce so much heat from your junk are you not worried about cook offs?

@@michaelkartman3543 i had to come up with some reason why appendix carry is bad just to mess with OG, that's the only thing i could think of. lol
Cook off or cock offs???
I used cross draw iwb holsters when I worked for a rideshare. Since I was in the car for 12-14hrs, and my right flank had the seatbelt buckle, it was just easier to start carrying that way. It became so comfortable and natural that I haven't carried another way in years.
My buddies and I get into arguments over best way to carry. I had to point out that each person is different and everyone should carry how they feel most comfortable.

Gregg shows what issues interfere with comfort and what modest adjustments to make.
I've carried AIWB for years and never shot anything off. And its a BIG target! Heh-heh! LOL!!
OG whats your opinion on Hybrid holsters with a soft leather side and Kydex on the other like the Aliens??? LOVE THE CHANNEL DUDE, ROCK ON!!!
I'm not OG by any stretch of the imagination, but I happen to own a hidden hybrid. It is quite comfortable, and in my opinion the leather is thick and stiff enough to avoid the sort of deformation that could catch on the trigger. Plus, they support many different lights and lasers on just as many guns.
Love my alien gear & the capability to carry in different aspects.
I have a Crossbreed and it's the most comfortable holster I have used. Even comfortable sitting in cramped movie theatre seats with a Kimber Ultra Carry II in .45.
Another hybrid option is from Mr. Tommy Theis at theisholsters.com. I've been very happy with the holsters I got from him.
The leather actually keeps the kydex from rubbing the finish off
First video I’ve watched from your channel man I love it I’m about to get a ruger security 9 and this video has helped me get an idea on how I want to carry it thanks!!!
