Ignorance is not bliss. Not once has the ar15 been used in a war other then civilian defense during a war.. anything can be used to kill. Nothing is excluded as a weapon. Not one thing is not a weapon.
If it can kill an animal it can kill a person. And as anyone will tell you not once has the AR-15 been used in warfare. If you don't actually know what your talking about then your better off just staying silent. And the only reason you don't think anyone needs a gun to protect themselves is because you've never been in a situation where you need to protect yourself. I'd even wager you don't want to protect yourself. You probably think the government cares about you and will protect you. And that is a rather foolish notion.
It's still a great home defence gun and no one goes in to war with an ar 15 they use m4 or m16

What an experience that had to be! I really wish he'd get much more credit for the services he provided. He was light years ahead of the majority of podcasters of today.. People like A. Nothing wrong with that statement. But the reason to carry a handgun is because it can be always on your side, and easily within reach. I can concealed-carry a handgun legally almost everywhere. Not true with long guns.

Well, I got to witness an incident in country. The platoon was quartered in the barn, buddy had watch. I woke up just in time to see the door creak open and my buddy to rack the charging handle on his SAW....yeah, dood was long gone in the whole few seconds to get up and check.
My local sheriff's department uses pump shotguns just for the intimidation factor.
That the bad guy _doesn't necessarily have a rational fear of danger_ might be the single most important idea in this video.
...Or pain, or other consequences. I've made enough arrests to learn its wiser to assume "bad people" do not function like you or I.

@@TheKimjoh560 that’s exactly why I prefer .45 over 9mm. I know there are a lot of benefits to 9mm but .45 is reportedly still superior when it comes to stopping an attacker too high to feel pain and I’ve taken steps to account for the advantages 9mm usually has over .45.

9 years in the Marine Corps. I'm staying true to my Mossberg M590A1. The ONLY shotgun to pass spec 3443E "3000 rounds with less than 3 malfunctions". With the bayonet on it, most people instantly regret trying to grab the first thing poking out around the corner lol. But then again, that's what I was trained on, and that's what I know the best. I hope this video helps beginners, as well as people who have been firing shotguns for years learn something new.

Very important statement. USE what your proficient at. Hand a WW2 Vet a M16 and the results may not be in their best interest, Hand that same person a M1 and the will dispatch the intended target quickly. My buds laugh at my old ALICE rig but that is what I was trained on and it works for me.
Havng used both as a service weapon. The 590A1 is infinitely superior to the Remington in every respect.

I have a 590 non a1 (Lighter barrel and polymer trigger guard). I haven't shot it very much yet but so far, I think you're right about it, it feels good
If you're forced to use bird shot for home defense because of the ammo shortage then I suggest using it in the most effective way possible, aim every shot fired at the head and/or face of the quote bad guy, while typically not deadly a face full of bird shot will most likely be blinding and extremely painful, if and when a bad guy goes from having 20/20 vision to blind in 0.03 seconds he/she isn't likely to continue their attack.
another reason to use birdshot is if in an apartment. i know for a fact 00 buck can go thru a few layers of drywall

Anyone who has spent enough time shooting shotguns and exploring all their options understands their power, reliability, accuracy, cost, versatility, and ubiquity.... Nothing sends that much lead down range with one trigger pull with such controlled demolition. Nothing.

@@geoffhughes225 well it depends somewhat. On the type of shells you're using as well as if the gun has a choke in it. But shotguns are capable opening rather effective at surprisingly great distances.

Short strokes or buck fever can happen to anyone. I saw my dad run a full magazine +1 rounds through a Springfield '06 without pulling the trigger once while aiming at a trophy mule deer. He was an experienced hunter and a trained Marine. After the buck strolled past he was totally confused for a bit. I had time to walk over and picked up all the unfired rounds while he sat there in the blind and stared at the rifle. Apparently the awesomeness of the buck kind of saturated his consciousness.

@@x.adam1 Nope, that tracks with people malfunctioning under stress. Maybe he did pull the trigger but just never properly closed the action which would just make the trigger dead.
Now if you dry fired a lot to train to have one pre-learned action to "press trigger cycle action" there is no thought process for "wait! Hold it! I pressed the trigger and nothing happened" you're just going to keep doing it.

When I was living on the street, I slept in a shelter, got my daily shower from a charity-run "day shelter", and was able to afford my own meals because unlike some homeless folks who are basically parasites with their hands out, I had a job. I just lived in Seattle where "has a job" and "can afford an apartment" are not necessarily automatically linked to one another. This went double during the recession.
In the eight years since I got off the street, I've lived _extremely_ simply, with almost no luxuries except for the gaming computer I bought because it's more or less my entire life in one place outside of work. As of today, between cash and available credit I can live for almost a year without any income (not that I'm about to test that since I've gotten my shots and gotten back to work post-pandemic.)
From someone who has been shooting trap and skeet competitively for 20+ years I love when people say you don't have to aim a shotgun... LMFAO

OG, I think one of the things of real value that you highlighted was that most people - normal people - do not ever come in contact like you do with the kind of people who break into houses, intimidate people out of pure evil, sucker-punch people they don't know on the street, Invade homes with pipes and machetes and maybe another perp, etc. - and so myths like "they'll hear that shotgun rack and run away" just don't apply to psychos on meth or PCP.
I grew up in inner cities, exposed to more nut cases than I ever wanted, and I agree wholeheartedly - don't use a "normal" mindset standard when you are judging psychos. Especially drugged ones. We have abundant historical information about, for example, the Moros in the Philippines who - drugged - could take a full cylinder of .38 to the body and keep coming and kill the soldier that was shooting him with a machete long before succumbing to his wounds; it's why the .45 ACP 1911 was introduced for military use.
You can scare off a black bear with a yell LONG before one of these determined crack-head whack jobs will even notice you are screaming. I grew up with these zombies - I'd use a howitzer and just rebuild the wall behind them - it's only plaster, studs, insulation, plywood, and shingles. You can't replace a family at Home Depot. The Philippine situation was when the military was making a switch from the single action army to the colt lightning double action revolver. The thundere was introduced shortly after that used .45 colt. It was the meth doped soldiers of the Korean War that convinced the military to stick to the .45 acp for pistol cartridges when they were exploring a 9mm option.

The weapon that was switched out in the Philippine war was the .38 Colt M1892 double-action revolver, which proved ineffective against attackers. For a time, the army re-issued the single-action Colt Peacemakers, and near the end of the Moro Rebellion, the rechambered double-action 1892 revolvers in .45 Colt, which were renamed the M1909.
But research and trials for a .45 caliber semi-auto were underway during this time, with final testing of the Colt and Savage semi-auto pistols from about 1907 onward. The Colt 1911 was selected and issued just before WWI as the standard US sidearm, in .45 ACP, to comply with the requirement of "at least .45 caliber" imposed by the Army, based on their experience of the effectiveness of larger caliber bullets on the heavily-drugged Muslim Tausug suicide attackers.
It wasn't until the mid-1980s that the Beretta 9mm was adopted - long after the end of the Korean, and Vietnam, Wars. The Brits in Korea used 9mm in their pistols and Sten and Sterling submachine guns, but not Americans unless they picked up a Browning Hi-Power and used it ad-hoc.
@@MrGsteele no I got it straight the first go around. The military was considering a 9mm option in the 1950’s since a lot of our allies were using them at the time (pre-STANAG). That’ll be about when decided to develop the Model 59 with a “hush puppy” variant. The Korean War happened and that got put on hold. S&W converted some of them for double stack mags for the 1980’s military trials.
Note that the .45 ACP was not significantly more effective. Fact.

As long as it's not a fully semiautomatic tactical ghost bent screwdriver with a 150 rd clipozine and a barrel shroud with 2 folding stocks that shoot 100 rds per second each that are hot enough to cook somebody and weigh as much as like ten moving boxes.
Officer Greg, I enjoyed seeing this. I started in law enforcement in 1979, and back then the 12 gauge pump shotgun was THE police long gun. Aside from what was taught in the academy, I had been running a pump gun since I was 14 years old so I was already used to the weapon. My last agency got patrol rifles in 2007, and they are quite useful, but my shotgun still rode with me in a double rack next to the rifle. I'm like you in that whenever I , got a call that sounded like it could be hot, I reached for the shotgun. It was just what I was used to, and that means a lot in an emergency. Younger guys, especially if they had been in the military were more familiar with the M4 and went for that. As a police firearms instructor, I saw a lot of small statured recruits having problems with the shotgun but not the carbine. I think either one is effective in the hands of a skilled user.
Now that I'm retired, I still rely on my shotgun for home defense, specifically a Mossberg 500 loaded with the Federal Tactical 00 buckshot load, backed up with Federal Tactical slugs. I really like both of these loads. In my experience, the Federal load patterns a great deal tighter than the "1 inch per yard" axiom, and as you pointed out, these really do have to be aimed or you can clean miss your target even across a living room..
As much as I like my shotgun, it isn't for everyone. I live alone and so I don't have to worry about anyone else using my shotgun. But if I lived with others who might have to use the home defense firearm but who don't have a lot of training, there is a lot to be said for keeping an AR-15 around. That being said, if someone breaks into my home, they are going to encounter a grumpy old man with a 12 gauge pump.
Most police officers lack not just combat experience but firearm experience outside their duty weapons. I always take any police officers opinion on firearms with a grain of salt..
Something to add to myth #5 in a lot of states you can be charged with assault with a deadly weapon just for firing a warning shot. Someone in my area did that and is in jail for threatening people on his property with a warning shot. In my state we have the castle doctrine which basically means the threat must be INSIDE your house before you can use lethal force, outside you have the “duty to retreat” even on your own property, you must attempt to flee before using lethal force.
Not a lawyer here; NY is particularly awful for restrictions if you're not a cop. Smarter folks than me have said ANY use of a firearm (outside of a practice range or hunting) is "deadly force," DF is only justified if you feel your life/someone else's is in imminent danger. Pulling the trigger without intent to kill, shows you weren't sure your life was actually in danger, so you're in deep 💩. Even if you're justified, never say anything to officers about what you did or why, have your lawyer say it for you.
Agree with OG, on the racking, or displaying a weapon deterring someone. It's not just drugs, but mental health issues, even simply someone being in a rage, it won't always put them off, even being faced with a wall of people, they will come at you. Plus, something that would put a person down normally, or incapacitate them, say injury or pain, won't stop them at all, or not quickly enough.
It is also useful to have some physical hand-to-hand, self defense training. It helps a lot of the time from someone getting a hold of you, or getting away from them if they do get hold.
When a slug blows their heart and lungs out of their back they will immediately stop what they are doing.
Anyone worth pointing a weapon at is worth shooting.

You know, my initial thought was that this subject has been done to death; but there are so many new gun owners out there that i see 10 year old internet arguments that I thought had been resolved resurfacing and spreading all over again. As an LE Officer for over 25 yrs, and still currently employed as as such, this is probably one of the best videos ever made on this subject, period!!!! But.......Offcer Greg.... we all know the stress of the job....certain life choices... such as grabbing a quick bite on those long days on patrol, not working out as much as we did when we graduated from the academy, and simply aging takes a toll. So what I’m saying in a nutshell is we must keep physically in shape so when the time comes whether on patrol or after retirement we have to deploy lethal force we are physically ready to handle the extreme adrenaline dump and not drop dead of a heart attack. Can’t be in the fight if you can’t make it to the fight!! Thxs again for the great video Officer Greg!!!!!!

The way you avoid short stroking is to train for two discrete actions. Everyone wants to be cool, or 'fast' and treats it as a single action. Its two - clear and load.

Well that racking shotgun really does get their attention. I used to work at a federal prison with a tower that was usually unmanned at the back gate. The cons knew this but a few of them knew that we opened it in the evening when the big rec yard was opened only A few thought we closed it when the yard got closed but it really was manned till midnight. 3 enterprising cons decided to cut out late in the evening right through the back double gate sally port. It was right in front of the tower. One of our guards watched them quietly from above as they cut through the inner gate. He let them clip a wire on the outer then pulled the release on the huge plate glass window. The sash counterweights had rotted off ages before so it came down with a hellacious bang followed by the 12 gauge racking. They dove back through their hole and hid in the industries section. They were so afraid it took us nearly an hour to get them to come out so we could walk them to the cell house🤡
Another Old Guy here, retired LEO and firearms instructor. I swear it sounded like I was listening to myself on the range during shotgun training. I used to love shotguns but due to a shoulder injury, I had to kind of retire them in favor of a patrol rifle. You hit all the nails squarely on the heads. There will always be those who disagree and they're entitled to to that. I have also found that officers with smaller builds have trouble effectively running a shotgun. This is mainly due to the LOP on the stocks. Short arms don't work work as well and throw in some body armor to add to the torso thickness and increase the LOP, manipulation becomes even more challenging. Unfortunately my old agency was reluctant to go to shorter stocks which would have benefited everyone. Excellent presentation.

OG, I am an experienced shotgunner, having used them for hunting, sports, and tactical training. I have heard all oh the myths you listed at som point or other over the years. That said, I enjoyed this video. I feel you did a decent job covering most of the topics, and really appreciate you demonstrating the aimed and un-aimed shot patterns. I personally know too many people that own and shoot shotguns but have never patterned them.
We have a coach gun we've never bothered to pattern...the range is about 12 feet, it does require being aimed, but elsewise it just sits being ready...hopefully never, but for two shells we equal to anyone...

Ik, it might be hard to believe when you live in an environment where youre constantly being told random people will smash your window and charge into your bedroom to will kill you, but statitstic, surveys and interweivs says otherwise.

We've had our preferred handguns for a long time. However with the way things are going I decided I wanted to have a long gun. After researching the subject I decided that the tool I was looking for was the shotgun.
The ability to choose ammo based on application as well as where it will be used and the surrounding area sold me on the platform.
With the layout of our house I can now effectively sit and intercept any would be intruder while my wife can move with our children to a more secure area.
With the correct ammo selection I know that I can take any action necessary without risk of over penetration in our home.

I have a friend who just bought a pump action 12 gauge who swears that simply racking the action will scare anyone away. I asked him if he intends to keep the gun completely loaded (with one in the chamber) and he responded "Of course". Then I asked if he realized that racking the action will simply throw away one of his few rounds as well as tell the bad guy where you are.

We used to train is villages made of shipping containers and let me say . you dnt notice the bang while under adrenaline and stress atleast not most of time and when your actively engaged . it wouldn't waist a second putting on ear pro my ears are the least of my worries if I find my self and family in a situation where I have to discharge a shotgun or firearm in my house

Let it deafen me. BTW, good defensive ammo will have a flash suppressant in it, so you'll get the bang and not the flash. But with all the adrenaline, you won't even notice the bang.
Rather deal with tinnitus for the rest of my life than the damage GSWs can do or a shortened lifespan rather than searching for earpro in a home invasion scenario.

I just stumbled across your video and I'm an avid shooter since I was a very young child. I've also done some pistol rifle shotgun training and I'm glad that you included the fact above all not to go looking for someone in your house to hunker down call the police and wait for them to come to you and defend yourself if you have to.
That's not always a good idea, many people have loved ones in their home that could be in different rooms without means of defense. You don't know if the intruder will go to where they are or what they could do to them.

I am fortunate in that I don't have *any young children in my house* and my wife is knowledgeable enough about firearms to realize all of my defensive firearms are loaded (she knows how to use them) and even though early in our relationship she was an anti gunner, she's one of the best natural shooters I've seen. Loved this video. Don't know how many of these myths I've heard over and over, and over, ahh you get the point, again, and you just have to usually just keep your mouth shut to avoid a fight over bullshit. I keep mine cruiser ready because it isn't drop safe. So unfortunately a tweaker may or may not hear it getting racked. That's not because I necessarily *want* it to be that way though, it just is what it is until I can upgrade from the ~40 year old gun I inherited.

My uncle was a deputy sheriff in Monroe county Kentucky in 1958 , he was 38 years old, and they busted a bootleg, gambling joint on the Kentucky Tennessee line , he said one of the old thugs pointed a sawed off shotgun at him and tried to pulled the trigger but the safety was on , he said I heard him click it off , just before a state police man hit him in the mouth with a pistol , he told my father that click was the loudest sound he ever heard .
The 2 loudest sounds you will ever hear is "click" when you wanted it to go bang. Or "bang" when you thought it was empty. I was taught that at Fort Jackson SC the summer of 78.
I hear "gun experts" at work say the thing about racking your shotgun to scare the bad guy. It's crazy how "well known" that is.
I'd often wondered about that one, and if there's any data to back it up. My thoughts were if you're up against say a career burglar who wants to avoid confrontation, then it might work as a warning. But like OG says, against a criminal who means to do harrm, or doesn't care, then all it's going to do is alert them.

@@zachaliles Yup. I thought about it from the position of what I'd do. I don't want to be on the wrong end of a shotgun. But hearing it, I'd also know that the place is occupied, they're awake, they're armed, and a pretty good idea where they are. Which means the defender loses the initiative, which generally isn't a good thing.
This video also got me thinking about the legal position, ie if alerting the criminal would provide some justification for them shooting first. I'd like to think it shouldn't, but the law can sometimes be an ass. I presume in places with Castle Doctrine or stand your ground, there's less protection for the criminal.
If they leave after you rack it, you win.
Otherwise, guess you're going to have to pull the trigger.
@@ScottKenny1978 Yeh, armed intruders (at least with firearms) are far less common in the UK. I also think the US has a growing problem. On one hand, anti-firearm people want to restrict the ability for people to defend themselves. On the other, anti-police rhetoric and prosecuters not taking crime seriously is enabling criminals. And then to add to the mix, chemically challenged criminals who behave erratically and less predictably.
Then there's just the geographical challenge, ie in a city, police response might be fast, in rural areas, less so. Or as OG says, you're on your own. And I don't think advice from senior law makers helps, ie Biden's suggestion that if you hear noises on the porch, let them have it with both barrels. Somehow, I doubt LEOs, lawyers or unfortunate pizza deliverers would agree with that advice.

The only thing I would add to OG's myths is not a myth, You should always count your shots. It takes some training and firing rounds to do this but you should know how many rounds you have in your weapon of choice. 12 Gauge Mossberg is my choice I like the double or single buck and slugs.
Were you ever in the 25th Inf Div? I knew a Trotter back then. We trained with the Mossberg with of all things buck and slugs.
The rule for shotguns in courses is "feed the beast". Reload single or double rounds whenever possible to top off.

Agreed... must practice responding to emergency situations. I was a lifeguard for 13 years and pulled people out every year. Hardest save was a 17 boy who was solid muscle. Sank like a brick and fought me the whole way in. Only way to know how to respond is it's programed into you. There's no time for thinking.
Those "SHOCKWAVE" shotguns can be a useful tool, if you live in a small apartment and have to make a fight stopping hole in someone less than 15 feet away, or across the room.
A shockwave accomplishes nothing that a standard short home defense type shotgun doesn't already do and do better.

@@evanf1443 Considering most shotguns are designed for hunting with 28 or 26 inch barrels, yes an 18.5 inch is "short'" comparatively speaking. But that's also a standard home defense length which is still overall fairly short.
But even if I was talking about an SBS, then yes the only part the Shockwave would do better is not require a tax stamp but that's where it would stop. It's not as effective as a stocked weapon.

I don't know how many times I've been in a gun store and heard the "don't have to aim" myth, the "they'll leave once they hear me rack my shotgun" myth, or the "once he sees mys shotgun, he'll leave" myth. I've always felt like someone has been basing shotgun tactics on too much movie/TV firearms tactics, and not reality. It is a great way to figure out who I should or should not deal with behind the counter, or maybe even find an entirely different store.
A comment about aiming. The shotgun is a very instinctual weapon. You don't have to consciously aim it..no sights to line up. Scope to look through. Red dot to find etc.
Laser would be handy perhaps.
But it takes 100's or 1000's of rounds to develop that "instinct ". The gun stores are doing a disservice by not telling customers that and loosing the sale of a couple cases of ammunition and perhaps a Laser
If someone does not fear a shotgun being pointed at them, then they simply don’t care to die. And I have yet to hear anyone surviving 00 buck or a slug to the chest in a close encounter.

I’m actually very well trained on combat rifle. However I have a double gun for my home because I only need to close it and it simply works. No pump, no safety it just works. (I don’t have enough shotgun training and don’t have the time for it).
I use mine for fishing up by Alaska where the bears are real, and for my farm. I’m not concerned with two legged predators, but it definitely will do the trick. I also am a fan of Federal Flight and have extensively patterned it as well as 1 1/4oz slugs. I have shot clays with both and can almost keep up with guys shooting 6, 6 1/2 and 7 shot at the same so good enough for coyotes. (Brenekee for the bears though, although I hope to never need them).

Great video as usual. I always thought that the statement "you don't need to aim a shotgun" meant you don't need front and rear sights alignment, just aim along the barrel, like with skeet shooting. You don't have time for perfect aim so you just wing it over the barrel.
Shotguns far more than pistol or rifles are shot instinctual.
The unfortunate thing is some of the best defense rounds for indoor use are restricted in various jurisdictions. Pepper rounds, "bean" bag, tasar rounds flachet . Many are less than lethal but you won't kill your neighbor or kids on the other side of the wall. Flachet are lethal but when I actually tested them a few years ago they pretty well were stopped by a couple layers of drywall. Lawmakers get upset with the idea of firing razor bladed darts though.
I never understood why people feel the need to put fancy sights on shotguns.
I shoot clays maybe once a year (backyard, not a special course), and I always hit 80 or 90 percent. If I can hit a 4-inch disk, 60 feet away, 20 feet up, moving, from low ready, without even a bead on the barrel to aim with, and NO practice, surely almost everyone can hit a man in the same room, right?

I'm a firm believer in the awesome punch a 12 gauge brings to most any fight. I believe it's unbeatable for consistently disabling a threat with a single shot. I have carried a riot gun of some incarnation, both in my vehicle, and bedside for 40+ years. I keep the first two rounds 00buck, and maxed out with slugs from there. My thinking is if two rounds of 00buck failed to end the threat, I need slugs from that point on. Not many people are going to shake off a hit from a 12 gauge and continue that fight!

It takes one second more to shoulder a shotgun vs hip shooting, its a well spent 1 second, especially if there are people in the area you dont want to shoot. The high powered slugs and buck rounds are absolutely painful to shoot through a pistol grip shorty shotgun too.

#2: Yuuuup. There seem to be quite a few people under the impression that shotguns behave exactly like an aerosol can. "You ain't even gotta aim with a shotgun!" is one of the few things I simply cannot help but correct if I overhear someone say it.
Even worse, think of it this way. If those people truly believe it's capable of killing everything within a 5 - 10 ft cone in front of them, they're saying they don't care about collateral damage.

Fellow Tactical Shotgun Instructor here. Good video. It's good to see a general debunking of a lot of misconceptions in one place. I do like #4 buck for anything less than 15-20yds personally. I like that you sling up the shotty for general work and do see the benefit of it in a home defense sitch as long as there's time. You should do a quick video on keeping the gun topped up during action as your style of presentation lends well to it.

As always great advice. Knowing what tools are in the toolbox and when to use them is so important. These new folks on the job all think the AR is the end all be all. They are mistaken. I deployed the good ole Remington 870 way more often than I did the AR when a long gun may have been needed. They each have their purpose but too many younger cops don't respect the 12g. Maybe it's because they think the AR is so new and cool forgetting it was designed about 65 years ago. Enjoy your road trip.

I might be alone in this but... I'd argue that when you find yourself clearing rooms, a pistol isn't necessarily much shorter than a typical AR-15, or a tactical-style shotgun (my Mossberg 590SP, for example).
If you hold that pistol extended out, its effective length is however long it is, plus however long your arms are. With a stocked shotgun, its effective length is stock to muzzle (I actually replaced the rifle stock on my Mossberg with a pistol grip and telescoping stock, and sometimes run it with the stock collapsed).
I pie the room from outside so my muzzle isn't poking through the door, and I shoulder my weapon on the side that's going to clear the plane first, and for me personally, offhand shooting is easier with a stocked weapon than with a pistol.
Add the fact that with my shotgun I've got solid grip with two hands, and better leverage against being disarmed, plus a bayonet mounted, and a pistol is no comparison at any range.
Very well done. I went thur several combat shotgun course while in the MC years ago and I have several shotguns used for hunting and home defense. This was a great refresher video and I posted it on FB. My current home defense shot gun is a AR12 from Academy that is a AR15 on steroids. It has a adjustable gas system and once I got use to the settings it functions flawlessly. The AR platform is very familiar to me and as OG stated the reason he likes the safety the same to avoid confusion under stress. The AR12 has 5 round mags and 10 rd available. I also love and shoot Federal ammo. At 50 yards it will drop Fed slugs in a 2 in group if I do my job. Good video! Thanks and stay safe.

Some guys can do it. But it take 10,000rds or more to do this and even then you may lose that ability in stressful situations. (I know a guy who inside of 30yrds can pop clays like a beast but can’t shoot doves, or the like in the real world).

Having a laser or a weaponlight with a nice hot-spot in the center might help with the aiming issue, though. O. G. has that nice light on his shotty, too.
Been shooting shotguns my whole life, I was a officer for over 20 years, personally I have no problems with pistol grip ones. They do take more practice, but they work. If that's what you have and your new consider a Laser on one. My Remington Tac. 13 will hit 6 targets dead center in 3 seconds flat at combat distance of 7 yards. Just practice with what you have, that's the important thing.
I don’t advocate relying on anything that requires batteries to be accurate. If the batteries fail(and the will when you need them the most) how effective is your weapon? That’s the only real question.
I am known OG fan ! I listen to what he says and watch what he does on his videos and soak up all the good stuff. If the day ever comes i have to pick up a firearm to defend then i know who's voice i am going to hear guiding me through those moments. Now OGers rewatch and rewatch and rewatch these videos so it all soaks up iinto the grey sponge in the bone dome and enjoy the jokes as well.
I loved a shotgun being close in 30 yrs on the street and places around the world. I carried 870s, Mossys and Benellis and they all worked very well. I love the tac ammo you show since we went to it years ago. Both 00 buck and slugs. As always, training is the key AND how to clear it when YOU mess it up under pressure. And you will. Make the first shot count since it may be he last round you fire otherwise. Be safe out there brother.

Definitely agree, my home defense gun is a pump 12 gauge pump, although my favorite hunting shotgun is my Mosberg semiautomatic. But it's nice to have a tactical handgun nearby the bed with a flashlight and laser for easy acquisitions in the dark.
Great video. Thank You. I taught my 3 kids as soon as I felt they were ready, how to properly handle/use a firearm. I believe this is the best way to gun safety. My 5 year old twin boys can tell you the 5 rules of gun safety. Just an idea, as a LEO maybe you could do a video about teaching kids gun safety.
