Also scott ”why do i keep asking you anyway? I need recoil”
There is a video on youtube of someone else shooting the same rifle and breaking a rib. There is a reason the other 2 rifles are 30-40 lbs heavier.
Hm...maybe it could be solid-mounted to a car or something?
Man survives .50 cal failure and still proceeds to show us the worlds largest rifles. Absolutely one of the best channels on CZcams.
Absolutely agree. Never seen the channel before but I’m an instant fan.
If you fall off the horse, get back on the elephant.
I love that when Scott starts smashing the remains of the toilets with cinderblocks, you can hear his dad chuckle a little behind the camera. Something about that just warms my heart so much. Scott, you're a real badass for making it through all this, and Mr. Ballistics Sr., you're just as badass for being as supportive and vital in your son's life and the saving of it as you are. Without you, the channel wouldn't be the same. Thanks to both of you for so many outstanding videos! Keep riding that lightning!

"Taking center state on Day 1 of the three-day auction was the sale of the colossal “Fat Mac” .950 JDJ, an unusual and massive firearm, which fetched an impressive $99,875!" Also $40 per round. Wild
GAWD DAYUM!!
4 bore is 200 bucks a round
I was hoping someone knew how much those rounds cost. I have to assume they are milled too.
There were 3 of those built. One weighs over 100 pounds, one weighs 76 pounds, and then there's Scott, who got the super light weight one at 56 pounds because... more recoil.
Madlad actually got the one that kicks more. Of course he would. Hes the KING OF RECOIL!!!
I can’t speak on it well, as I could only find one mention but one of those 3 ended up selling for $99,875 at auction. Crazy rare and quite a pretty penny lol

Makes an awesome case study.
And yes, congrats on 3 years, Scott.
Super stoked you’re here with us, still going strong.
I really like the beginning of the video. Explaining your accident and talking about how it still is on your mind every time you go out
2 days ago, the guy who runs the firearm shop at one of the ranges I go to, said he wanted to show me something cool and he brought out one of these .950 JDJ rounds……which is what brought me to this video, because I wanted to see what chambers one of those!

Oh my word, Scott you've got to show the bruise that monster has made on your shoulder. This is awesome!!!!
Dude for real plugged his jugular with his thumb... A true legend.
6:58 If you're wondering why, you have to remember the 4-bore was designed as a black powder cartridge and modern rounds are loaded to mimic the pressure created by that black powder charge.
The .950 JDJ was designed for smokeless powder, which is _three times_ more potent than black powder.
😮
Gotta love (or fear) how chemistry can produce such drastic results!
Smokeless powders are so energetic that even loads of equivalent power are unsafe in the same guns. The typical .45 colt cartridge in the 19th century was identical in power to .45 ACP, but .45 ACP is noticeably higher in pressure.
@@nextcaesargaming5469 Yup, always an important fact to keep in mind.
I mean yes and no. It’s kept within safe parameters for the chamber and cartridge, but it’s definitely about twice as hot as turn of the century black powder 4 bore

Things I'd like to see the JDJ shoot:
1) If a zombie was standing behind a grizzly bear, shoot both?
2) how many clear ballistic gel can it go through
3) body armor on a zombie torso? That energy transfer would be wicked
4) as someone else said, can it split a log of firewood if it hit the log length wise in the middle?
To be fair that is am impressive list of ideas all of which I agree with!!!! However, you forgot to mention an engine block 350 V8+ would be great but any nice old big block would be fun to see what it does to them!!!!
Asking the real questions here haha
Those some good ideas
i wanna see the firewood!!
1) so long as it doesn't deflect through the grizzly, yeah probably.
2) not too many since it always seems to deflect. Imma say 5.
3) what zombie torso? All I see is a green cloud. ;)
4) into a thousand pieces, yes.
Sry muchness lol.
Can we just take a minute and appreciate Scott for not only overcoming his injury but outright conquering what did it to him. It was weird rifles and rounds that nearly killed him, and here he is firing the biggest and baddest of them all and geeking out instead of freaking out. Hearing the pure excitement out of Scott’s voice when he fired the .950 JDJ proves that he doesn’t just enjoy making the videos, but he enjoys making the content the videos are focused on. which I think is something that many CZcamsrs don’t have, and wish they did.

That 950 was fun, but the best part of the video for me was you aknowledging the mental trauma of your accident and telling us how you choose to face that dread of uncertainty when shooting head on. That's brave. I'm really glad for you, and your physical and mental recovery.
I love this comment. I have my own mental demons as a result of several traumatic experiences. I can empathise about the 50 cal kaboom. Well done Scott for coming to terms with it.

Glad to see you not only revisiting that horrible day, but also educating people on proper safety while at same time not letting past experiences stop you from progressing in life. Everyone that asks about the thumb in it or x amount of days since last accident I happily steer them towards your channel with some back story.
Couple ideas for the JDJ:
How many safes can it shoot through
How many fridges can stop it
Can a tank stop it
How many block of gel can it shoot through
Can it split a log in half
How many level 5 plates can stop it
How many cast iron pans can stop it
Can you spin it on ice
Lastly, who can shoot more rounds without tapping out? (Ft donut operator or brandon hererra)

Love you man. Im glad you ride the lightning. Blessed to have you with us still.
It's 2AM and you hear a window break in your living room. This is the worst day this could happen, as every single one of your guns was lost in a tragic boating accident this morning. All were lost except for one. You look across your room in dread at your anti-kaiju rifle. You know what you have to do, but you don't know if you have the strength to do it, both literally and figuratively.
Heaving the rifle into your arms, you load a .950 cartridge and begin to waddle towards the door. Your feet make a loud “thud” as you take each 6″ step. You know the intruders hear you. You hope they do, for perhaps they will run and spare the world the suffering that is about to befall it.
You try to set the rifle down, but end up clipping your bedroom door and it is immediately knocked off its hinges by this battering ram in your hands. You attempt to round the corner, bonking the muzzle against the doorframe and adjacent wall across the hall at least 4 times. To your horror, two invaders stand there at the end of the hall.
With a heavy heart, you raise the rifle to your shoulder while making inhuman grunting noises from the strain of attempting some semblance of a shooting position. The burglars simply stare in disbelief, unable to process the situation they are witnessing, as if in a dream. You cannot aim the rifle, as the last time you fired the gun, it turned your $3000 Leupold into a kaleidoscope. You simply hold it at an angle that appears correct and fire.
You are immediately knocked to the floor as if hit by a semi truck going 20 MPH. The shot connected with one of the criminals and it erased him from existence. Even the memories of him have been destroyed and you're wondering why you just shot into an empty hallway. The shot continues to travel through at least 4 houses, a car, and a 10 ton boulder before lodging itself 20 feet into a nearby hill, never to be seen again.
It is at this point, you realize you cannot hear. The surviving burglar can't hear either but he's also on fire from the muzzle blast and is currently vacating your home. You don't care. Your shoulder is dislocated and there is a hole in your brand new AR500 refrigerator. You're crying now. The police arrive and, upon seeing the scene, start laughing. You start crying harder.
Just as the founding fathers intended
That was actually really great storytelling 👍

Of all the things that surprise me about you shooting these monster rifles as often as you do, what is absolutely astonishing to me is you don’t flinch or anticipate the recoil at all. Just totally calm, both eyes open and loose. As a (former) competitive shooter I’m beyond impressed. It took me years of training to be able to shoot a 308 out of a 12lb rifle and consistently just let it happen without anticipating the recoil and noise. Even now, 4-5 rounds from a hunting weight 300 win mag and I’m flinching like a complete novice. The win mag might be 30lbs of recoil? Amateur numbers I know. You’re an absolute unit to know it’s coming and just let it happen anyway. Hats off to you sir.
It is impressive, though he's also huge. Its the sound more than recoil I think that people recoil from. Grandad used to load our guns with our own loads. Well, as we shot, 1 shell wouldn't have any powder,, and we would recoil when pulling the trigger. That got us a verbal wholloping for being so weak and gun shy that we recoil when there wasn't a sound. It taught us better shooting discipline.

I almost drowned years ago and I didn't quit swimming. I was almost killed in a car accident and I didn't give up driving. Even if Scott did quit shooting the biggest and most powerful firearms that is no guarantee of safety. Life is precious because life is also dangerous and fleeting. We don't know how we will go or when. I see Scott takes many precautions these days and I believe he has learned from his experience. He has faced his pain and trauma head on and continued to do what he loves for himself, his family, and for us fans. He is a Warrior, a Champion and a King.
I'm 20 and 5'7, i aspire to be as beastly as this absolute juggernaut right here.
God bless you, you're an inspiration.
Awesome video on the 950. Prayed for your recovery and success. Congratulations. Stay faithful.
You absolutely spoil us rotten. I can't even imagine the cost per round on that beast or the cost of the rifle. Next has to be the ballistic torsos and, of course, with and without body armor. You are truly the KING of recoil!! 💥💪👍
It was $40 a round when it was first introduced, closer to $230 now.
Ballistic torsos are multiple thousands, if we wanted to buy one. They send them to CZcamsrs for free.
I would honestly love to see someone develop a type of body armour that could survive a shot from this absolute monster of a round. Cause once they do, we can just start putting that on tanks, and they'll be invincible!
@@coriusfarinprimarchofthese7007pretty sure most modern main battle tanks are pretty resistant to a .950 JDJ since the average main battle tank barrel ls like what, 4.7 inches, nearly 5x than the 950 JDJ Bullet lol
You might be able to create armor to stop it. Your internal organs on the other hand......... probably won't make it.
@@verakoo6187not all CZcams channels unfortunately… taofledermaus doesn’t get them
I did some calculations and the .950 JDJ has around half the kinetic energy of a 25mm DU APFSDS round fired from the bradley IFV.
So yeah ... thats a lot of recoil
That's a spicy meatball .

M242 Bushmaster 25mm M791 APDS-T weighs 134 grams and has a muzzle velocity of 1345 meters per second or 4412 feet per second.
This amounts to around 89,350 ft-lbs of force or 121,151 joules of energy.
.950 JDJ 233 grams at 670 meters per second or 2,200 feet per second allowing for a muzzle energy of 38,685 ft-lbs of force or 52,450 joules.
The difference between them is 50,665 ft-lbs with the M242 Bushmaster having around 130% more potential energy.
and using half the powder the Fat Mac stomps the shiznit out of that sloppy 4-bore. 🤣
@@RNG-999 those Bushmasters must have obscenely thick shoulders. Probably spent thirty years building mass in the Australian outback until becoming a bush master. Who could have guessed Scott's shoulder was constructed from steel?
thank you for all scott,i love your channel :)
Hey Scott, G’day from Australia!
Just been catching up on your vids, and after watching this one, i think you should build a shooting sled for the Fat Mac like the one you have for the Punt Gun, to make it easier to man-handle and allow you to shoot it in more videos without beating up your shoulder every time.
It’s insane the types of guns that have been designed over the years, and this is another crazy fever-dream like the Punt Gun that is almost un-shootable by the general population. But hey, it looks cool!
Wishing you a big 🎉Happy Anniversary🎉 of your channel, and many more future milestones and also hope you still have a guardian angel watching over you.
I can't believe it's been three years already. I remember when that video came out. Glad you're alive, Scott!
After what you endured after the .50 mishap, you are a huge inspiration to me in my life. I have had to endure 4 spinal surgeries on my neck and back the most recent on February 1st of this year. When it all began I didn’t think I’d ever walk again but now I am. Thank you for showing me me the way and giving me me hope and inspiration to keep fighting
So naive it hurts. Be your own inspiration damn it
Can you glad that God protected you
Back surgery is no joke. Mine almost killed me. I lost a lot of blood, 4. 5 liters, went into shock and cardiac arrest. Here I still am, never give up folks.
@@Gunsandbunsmma Go through a few back surgeries and get back to us. Until then GFYS.
Impressive, I'm discovering you and your credit song and you got me suscribed !! And this gun... real-life jezzail. Gotta see more of it !!
I can't believe you got here Scott been waiting for this for years. So glad your able to do it not only for us but for yourself you absolute freight train of a human being.
You are an inspiration to me, I had open heart surgery 6 months ago and had my sternum and collar bone sawed open as well. I'm 61 and frankly it still hurts me, but you have inspired me to push through the pain.
Best of luck on your recovery
YESSS! IVE BEEN ASKING TO SEE THIS ONE IN ACTION!
Dude same
WE ALL HAVE!
Me too! I'm so happy! Lol
Same...
@@quiggs8361 Yep we have. I bet that thing is a lil more portable with that sleeker muzzle-brake, compared to the much larger 18lb muzzle-brake on the other Fat Macs. 😎👍
Good call on mixing up the orbies and clear bottles.. When I saw it, my 1st thought was: "Oe!! mix it up!"
Edit: @3rd shot kick... LOL... looks like the last one, was the worst.
2nd edit: When you threw the bricks at the toilets.. 😀😀😀 Reminds me of when I was a preteen.. breaking glass jars.. I would just LOVE to watch them scatter... something beautiful about forcing entropy.
Very entertaining video! Thanks
That is very cool. It's a shoulder mounted cannon. How it's not classified as a destructive device is beyond me. Thanks for sharing the commemorative madness. We're all so glad you stuck a thumb in it!
20:01 Sounded like pops couldn't help that giggle😂😂
To recover how you did, become stronger and STILL continue to shoot ANYTHING ! Shows the resilience and strength we all are capable of and may not know it. Thanks Scott
All the best to you Scott, to another year of funs and big guns!
As always great work by you!

Scott: “today is a good day”
Scott’s shoulder: “I disagree with that statement”
Cant wait to see the 950 vs ballistic torso. Should invite some slow mo guys out for such an occasion too. Congrats on having such a good outlook on life as well scott. We are blessed to still have you around providing entertaining and educational firearms content.
Not only the slo mo guys, but the how ridiculous guys (they did a series with 2 cannons and they loaded them with different things, bowling balls, in test, iirc and shot them at each other).
@@bikeny don't know about the how ridiculous guys. I love them but their style of content seems to ever involve firearms. The cannons were the closest they've ever got and those were painted bright colors and didn't look like traditional cannons. Just think they have a different viewer base.
There's also the ballistic high speed bros that would love to see it.
@@metal100khow ridiculous is from Australia which has strict gun laws, so that probably influences what they do
@@Pointlesschan yeah but they've been in the US for their last few videos. I think they were in Montana. Firearms are also a bit small scale for then. They might enjoy the punt gun though.
Their target audience is 10 year old kids lol
It's absolutely fantastic how Scott enjoy to do it. It's always outstanding content. Thanks for your videos.
BROS A 10 YEAR OLD AT HEART AND I LOVE IT!!!
That intro is why I'm subbed to you. A perfect example of how resilient people can be. You stared death in the face, and came out even better. Hats off to you, man.
Just an FYI, it may be 20mm, but the M61 Vulcan actually uses the 20x102 Vulcan and after looking it up the .950 JDJ uses the longer 20x110mm Hispano.
the 950JDJ is 24.1x70mm. and is a bit weaker than most standard 20mm rounds in terms of muzzle energy. the parent case is 20x110mm hispano thats been shortened and necked up to fit the FAT round.
@@windex527 when it comes to energy, speed is king, but momentum is more important for penetration and the 950 has much more than the 20 mm
@@squidwardo7074 though if you care about penetration and have a 20mm Vulcan, there's always the 20mm APDS rounds, which should easily beat the 950 JDJ.
20mm TP maybe…but not 20mm API @windex527
Dude I knew you got messed up from that .50 blowing up but Jesus Christ you are like the terminator! Mad respect man, love your videos, thanks for doing all of this just for us!
I can’t believe that it’s been 3 years…jeez. Well I’m glad to see you’re doing well and keeping it light hearted, I can always rely on coming here and having a laugh!!
I'd like to point out something... Scott, the official numbers for the .950 is 3600 grains, at 38k ft-lbs of muzzle energy. This is more than twice as powerful than the most powerful .50 BMG, and depending on the measure... more powerful than the round that blew up Scott's Serbu rifle.
Also... he fired nearly 700$ worth of ammo. Each round is 225$ and MUST be custom made.
