Great bid what a fantastic haul of marmite my fave 💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍
Great video and holy moly, how generous is Richard! I’m a Marmite fanatic and my absolute favourite is cheese on toast with a drizzle (huge) of Marmite over the top, especially if it’s a mature cheese, the flavours compliment each other so well, such a comfort food to eat and so satisfying. My husband hates the taste, smell and every thing about Marmite, but has never complained when I’ve put in a big dollop in stews and casseroles (not that I’ve told him I do haha) - Take care 😁
Hi Sharon, Happy Tuesday! Thank you! Holy moly is right, big Thank You to Richard for the wonderful variety of items! We love it on toast too and we've tried it with dressing/stuffing, eager to try it with other foods as well. Wow, that's funny, your secret is safe :) May I ask, what kind of casseroles do you usually prep? Have a great week :)
kendal mint cake used for survival food in mountains hikers ect energy food
Hi Richard, Happy Tuesday! Thank you, we've been noticing that with comments that it's common for hiking, and camping, sounds good. The closest type of sweet/candy we have here is a maple candy, not loved by dentists but just imagine replacing the mint flavour with maple, and there you go. These are somewhat similar, but you get the idea - www.worldmarket.com/p/lb-maple-treat-pure-maple-sugar-candy-5-piece-451196.html?mrkgadid=&mrkgcl=660&mrkgen=&mrkgbflag=&mrkgcat=&camp=ppc:google:_pMax_%20Consumables&acctid=21700000001660222&dskeywordid=&lid=58700008439922133&dsproductgroupid=&product_id=451196&merchid=5165106&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=local&storeid=CP371&device=c&network=x&matchtype=&locationid=9032466&creative=&targetid=&campaignid=20276579494&adgroupid=&gad_source=1&gclsrc=ds
Great box. I haven't tried most of these things. I did go into a Korean supermarket near Waterloo station in London and it had lots of varieties of Lays - interesting flavours. I think one was oyster and garlic, another chicken wings and also cucumber flavoured crisps.
Hi Ruth! Oyster and garlic, I don't believe we've seen that variety, or the cucumber flavoured crisps. The chicken wing variety, we may have possibly seen at our Cost Plus, we'll have to check again but the prices per bag were ridiculous. I don't know how they can justify what they were charging for a single back of those particular chips/crisps. Happy Tuesday! :)
Hi both. I love marmite!. Marmite spread, marmite cheese, marmite nuts and the marmite crisps. Didn't like the marmite peanut butter though.
It can be used in stews, cassaroles, curries, sauces and some use it in baking as well: especially savoury foods. i can imagine cheesy marmite scones would be delightful.
I am doing well. 18 weeks post op left foot. Foots been sore though as i've done too much walking lately. I'm over my cold now. Had some appts this month: more waiting and things / specialists need chasing.
Weathers warmer some days during the day but still very cold at night. Lots of rain.
Hope you both are well and finn is aswell.
Have a good week. Leon 😊🇬🇧 xx
Hi Leon, glad you're doing well. We were so excited about all the Marmite goodness!
Spring is definitely here with temps over 22C. Supposed to cool down by the weekend.
Good to see 2 American Marmite lovers that seems quite rare. I love Marmite on toast with melted cheese it's so good. A couple of years ago there was also Marmite mint flavour and a limited edition Guinness flavour.
Did you try those two flavors? What did you think? Mint sounds like it would be very unusual.
@@FinnLovesFood I did try the mint, it was just a hint of mint & i quite like it, but i love yogurt & mint sauce and mint jelly and will often add that to food. I never tried the Guinness one.
Great box of items again from Richard. Those curds sound delicious! and a lot of lovely Marmite flavours, i just bought the Marmite peanut butter i love it, looks like you won't be running out of Marmite goodness anytime soon lol :) hope you enjoy.
Hi Keza, Happy Tuesday! Yes, thank you, we're taken back by the variety of marmite received, overwhelmed with marmite goodness! :D Can't wait to try :) We loved the peanut butter too, addictive! Have a great week :)
@@FinnLovesFood Thank you, hope you have a good week too :)
Small level spoon of marmite adds a nice richness to appropriate gravy/sauces!
Next time you roast a meat and use the juices to make a stock or Gravy add a little marmite!
Hi Tim, Happy Tuesday! Oh sounds nice, thank you for the thoughtful tip! :)
8 track , now there's a blast back to the 70's . I'll look forward to seeing you try this stuff , all the best and enjoy the week ahead , i'm pretty sure Kendal mint cake was taken to the top of mount Everest by Edmund Hilary's expedition to keep themselves sustained
Hi John! 8 track indeed, and reel-to-reel :) Thank you, will be doing more tastings in the near future. Hope you enjoy the week ahead too! I believe your right about the Kendal mint cakes as well as malt products on the Everest expedition. Talk about a sugar high :) Happy Tuesday!
@@FinnLovesFood yes , both of those tape systems kept getting tangled up , a bit of a waste of space really . i look forward to the next film 😀
White mint cake is made with white sugar, brown mint cake with brown.
Some companies also make a chocolate covered white version.
I love brown sugar so can't wait to try those.
Blimey, I do enjoy watching Tina.
Hi Phil! Thank you for the kind compliment and happy Tuesday to you! :)
At a guess I think Richard got the Lays from a convenience shop, as that’s the only kinda place I’ve seen them sold in.
Looking forward to your box opening next Tues.
Yes convenience shopping quite few Indian and Asian minimarkets shops around. Odd items I'd seen in sainsburys some search online for as not available in my end of UK.
Hi Temeraire, our people have a saying "When presented with a gift, do not ask where it came from" - joking, I do know some of our own convenience stores here sometimes have varieties you won't find in other stores/chains of stores. Really taken back by the variety available there, nice options! Happy Tuesday!
@@rthoc71 Thank you Richard, Happy Tuesday! This was a lot of fun to unbox and sample, we'll have more food-tasting videos coming. Thank you for putting these very thoughtful boxes together, wonderful selection. Big Thank You!
@@FinnLovesFood u welcome glad all the glass was entact surprised both ends of lays popped open. Mint Cake good palate cleanser too after something little hot or strong taste.
What a great box from Richard, especially the savoury ones, I can eat piccalilli on a spoon, I've never had lays crisps but they look like walkers, when Ross looked surprised and said guess what I'm holding, my first thoughts were a coconut 😂, I'm sure you'll enjoy the contents of that box
Hi Michael! Fantastic box, can't wait to try everything. We enjoy piccalilli also, we just haven't had it on a spoon (yet). You're right, the Lays and Walkers do look similar, Lays was established in 1932 while Walker's Crisps was established in the UK in 1948. On a quick online search, something else that separates Walkers from Lays - "One thing that set Walkers apart from other snack brands is its focus on sustainability and reducing environmental impact. In 2019, it announced the change of packaging to 100% recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025. The brand has also launched a range of recycling initiatives. For example, the Walkers Recycling Scheme. This scheme encourages consumers to send in their empty crisp packets to be recycled."
Good guess on the coconut! 🤣 Thank you, and have a great week!
😂
Very interesting facts, when I was a kid a long time ago Smiths crisps were the biggest brand and we could only get one flavour, plain, with salt in little blue wrappers so you could put it on your own crisps, then I remember when Golden Wonder introduced cheese and onion flavour and then another one I think was Bovril flavour, when I see what you can get these days I'm amazed at what you can get in different flavours, 03:25 AM here and I'm going to open a packet of salt and vinegar crisps and I might make a butty with them 😁
@@michaelriordan8265 ahh good old salt and vinegar!
Marmite peanut butter also comes in "smooth" , which I guess you call creamy
Hi MajorMinor! Ah, good to know, thank you! We enjoy both varieties, peanut butter is a go-to comfort food here. Happy Tuesday! :)
Eat a bit of the mint cake inbetween each taste of marmite. That will cleanse your pallet.
That made me laugh. I couldn't tell if you were joking at first or serious, but thinking about it, it's not a bad idea :)
Hi Neil, good idea :) Thank you! Happy Tuesday to you!
It was a bit of a laugh. But marmite is so strong you need something strong to balance it out.
Thanks, it just seems so obvious.
Hi both ,THIS IS shanes mum, I got marmite the other week and it was £2-99 . I don't no there was SO many tipes. I've seen lime and orange curd ,TAKE CARE AND all the best. 😊😊👍👍👍👍🐶
Was that for the large size jar? Hope you're having a good week.
Hi Ross & Tina. Hope you're both well. What a box! Those spreads and Marmites look fantastic. I love Marmite, but have only tried the regular. Love truffle too, Tina.
I adore curds. I've had orange curd, which is beautiful, but hard to find. Love it on good bread/toast with butter. So naughty!! How lovely for your Nanna to have had a lemon tree. They can be grown in a pot here. I gifted one to my sister a few years ago. It has to be brought inside in the winter and so far, it's promised, but hasn't actually produced any fruit!
The Kendal Mint Cake, I believe, historically, was produced as an energy/survival food for expeditions. Look forward to your taste reviews! 😋
Hi Agranda! Thank you, hope you're doing well too! We'll be doing a marmite tasting soon, can't wait to try the truffle marmite variety. When you do find orange curd, is there a particular brand you go for? Have you tried to make it? We haven't yet, but after doing a quick search, we found this - www.aspicyperspective.com/easy-orange-curd-recipe/ If you do try it, please let us know what you think.
Talk about great advertising for Kendal, if it's good enough for Everest, it's good enough for me :) That, and Horlics for the Artic epeditions. Have a great week :)
@@FinnLovesFood no particular brand of orange curd. I've taken a look online and those available tend to be quite expensive. Thanks for the recipe link. I'd like to give that a go sometime. 😊
HERE IN UK, WE CALL THE OTHER VERSION SMOOTH PEANUT BUTTER.
Funny how we use creamy and the UK uses smooth!
great vid I've never seen them marmit flavours over here in the uk shops
Hi Malcom! If they're not available in your local shops and you don't mind shopping online, there's the www.marmite.co.uk site. Looks like it has some interesting recipes on that site as well. Happy Tuesday :)
ok thank you@@FinnLovesFood
I'm interested in this Scandinavian piccalilli that you've purchased. I know that they have a tradition of mustard based sauces (like with Gravlax) but haven't heard of mustard pickles from there. I believe that the original British version was trying to mimic Indian pickles. Yes, we loved Indian food, even way back then. I believe they also had some (weird to our eyes) 'curry' recipes back then!!
What I found was just called pickled vegetables. It has cauliflower, cucumber, carrot, onion, leek, vinegar, mustard and a few other things. It was made in Denmark.
@@FinnLovesFoodSounds nice!
I kike to try different pickles and then try and think up good matches for them!
When are you going to taste all ?
Hi Elisazabeth, Happy Tuesday! We have a variety of received, unboxed items that we haven't tried yet and what we're trying to do is group the related items together per video (if possible). We will be posting more tasting videos soon. Thank you for watching :)
@@FinnLovesFood Can't wait. Thank you 😊
I'm from Australia and grew up with and love vegemite. I find the taste of marmite slightly sweet.....but maybe not the chilli version lol
We haven't tried Vegemite yet. Would be interesting to compare.
Hi Tina Ross, I'd like to collaborate with Richard to be able to send you a box of delights from the UK. Would that be possible??
Hi Dennis, that's very kind of you. We're not sure what you had in mind as far as collaborating with Richard. He has been so generous over the past year plus and plans to send his final box soon.
Marmite used to do a jar of Marmite with Guinness. Not sure if they still do that. As a coeliac I can no longer eat Marmite, however store brand yeast extract is exactly the same taste and I can eat that!
We didn't see the Guinness flavor on their web site. I wonder what is different with the store brand?
What came first then? the sweetie called Peppermint Patty or the Charles Schulz Peanuts cartoon character, Peppermint Patty who runs the baseball team? Please let it be the latter, as I love the Peanuts cartoon strips and films and to have a sweetie named after you, what an honour! (Or…. ‘honor’ 😉😁)
Hi Weedle, Happy Tuesday to you! Good question! the candy/sweet came first, Schulz named the character after the candy/sweet. The character's first name was actually Patricial. We watched the Peanuts cartoons as kids here :)
@@FinnLovesFood I too have watched and read Peanuts cartoons - have you heard of/watched Garren Lazar’s YT channel where he CAREFULLY AND BRILLIANTLY animated and choreographed the Peanuts cast to good pop songs?? If you haven’t - you are in for a really good deep joy treato!! They are just incredible! The detail of the timing of the characters “lip synching” to the lyrics is just 😳🤯 it must have taken him forever to complete them and there are sooooo many to choose from, for me to choose my personal favourite! I will go and have a look and pop back when I have found a good one - it may even have Peppermint Patty in it! 😂
@@weedle30 no we haven't seen that before!
@@FinnLovesFood looks like it’s been removed!!!!!
Whyyyyyeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!
@@FinnLovesFood hope you get to see it this time! The YT algorithm is stupid 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I dozed off watching.
