Pancakes!! Woooooh!! But when a serving suggestion on something says “try it on pancakes” it often means “our” pancakes, the type we enjoy eating on Shrove Tuesday (aka “pancake day” 😄 ) - pancakes made with a runny batter, that cooks like a French crepe - not the supermarket bakery type, ones that are of a little circular “doughy and cakey” style (known to me as Scotch Pancakes, cos that’s what the mother in law (who WAS Scots) called them!)
If you are interested in making a big British style pancake in a frying pan, google Mary Berry or Delia Smith for traditional top notch recipes. When they are fresh and hot from the pan, slide one of them onto a plate, then quickly put a large dollop of one of those delicious sounding spreads in the middle of it and spread it with a knife (dipping the knife blade into very hot water also helps 😉 )
Then, carefully roll the pancake into a tube - allowing the spread to run into the grooves etc and bingo - you will have a lovely dessert to enjoy!
For extra decadence, you could add finely chopped fresh fruit like strawberries/raspberries/cherries etc - just layer them on the spread in the middle (works well with conserve and ‘runny’ jam)
For extra extra decadence, dribble some runny cream over the top of the pancake roll 😎
Try putting a big blob of really cold icecream (ie straight from the freezer) into the middle of the pancake - then crumble up a Flake bar into it and roll it up….. can you get Cornish icecream out in the USA? Ohhhhhhhhhh 🤩🤩🤩Cornish icecream, fresh strawberries on a warm scone - I’d fight someone for that! 😂
Enjoy your spreads! and have a go at making a pancake! 👍🏻😄

Oh that's right, pancakes in the UK are different! We've had Swedish pancakes - I think those are closer? I Googled Scotch pancakes and they look more like American pancakes, but not sure if they taste different. All delicious I'm sure!
We don't get Cornish ice cream here, like so many other things!

Hi both. I love oatcakes but i like the UK crepe lookaliikes. We add savoury foods like breakfast items i e bacon, cheese, sausage or the whole fry up in it. Can also make it sweet like an oaty version of our crepe like pancakes: sugar and lemon is a popular pairing. Also love nutella on it.
I find these or the scottish oatcakes taste like cardboard lol. (Lived in scotland 10 years as a child).
Love cadbury spreads but so naughty. I usually get nutella. Also love sunpat or whole earth peanut butter spread. Occasionally, i'll get lemon or orange curd (more expensive).
If you haven't tried it but can get it, i would recommend getting the biscoff spread. Goes well on homemade chocolate or coffee cake. 🙂. Aswell as on toast.
Have a good week. It's sunny on and off here but due another thunderstorm this weekend. Lots of rain.
Love to you all and finn. Leon. 🙂🇬🇧 xx

Hi Richard, Happy Tuesday! Funny that you mentioned the Nutella, I may have mentioned this - we saw something on the news years ago about a university cafeteria having a Nutella dispenser available among other condiments and spreads. Supposedly the school couldn't keep it in stock, students were bringing in empty jars and loading-up on that fine hazelnut chocolately goodness -

These Cadbury items are made under licence by other companies like the Crunchie spread you have there. For example Cadbury mini roll cake bars are made jn the UK by Premier Foods under licence from Cadbury. 450 million a year according to their website!!

Hi MajorMinor, Happy Tuesday! Most of the Cadbury we've seen in our local stores are made here, we can tell the difference between that compared to the UK Cadbury(our preference). Have you tried Crunche spread? Did you have a spread preference?
