I don't think we've tried the pineapple flavor yet.
ROSS, SOMETHING I HAVE JUST NOTICED WHEN YOU OFFER TINA THE FOOD SHE ALWAYS SEEMS TO TAKE THE PIECE NEAREST TO YOU.
That's because he usually puts the smallest piece closest to him. 🙂
their promotion used to be SCHH Doreen"s having her Soreen
Hi not a fan of the soreen bar's, I'd much rather HAVE a larger loef. I've never toasted a soreen loef ,I've toasted a rich fruit bread and I now that's GOOD. May be there are spots of jelly in it . Take care and all the best. 😊😊👍👍
Hi Shane! The larger loaves are definitely a plus if they're hard to find :D You may like it toasted with a generous spread of butter - perfect with coffee/tea in the morning. Thank you and Happy Tuesday! :)
Hi both, THIS IS shanes mum, you may like to try and make this . Family fruit tea bread , you need to start this tea bread the day before ,as the dried fruit have to be soaked in hot overnight to give them time to swell. IF you have tea left in the pot ,use that instead of making it specially. Tea bread packed with fruit such as this one are known as bar a brith in Wales, Thay aregood served with butter,AND they keep well.allow to cool completely ,then store in an airtight tin or polythene bag . This is the recipe, preparation time :15 minutes, plus shocking overnight cooking time ,11/4-11/2hrs tin needed a 2lb loaf tin or I us 2 1lb tins . 12oz mixed dried fruit, 8oz light muscovado sugar ,10floz hot tea made with 2 tea bags ,10oz self raising flour, finely grated zest of lemon,or I put in 1tablespoon of marmalad, AND 1med egg .1)put the fruits, sugar in a medium mixing bowl ,AND add the tea and cover over night . 2) the next day , lightly grease the tin /tins and line with non -stick baking parchment to make it easy to get out .pre heat the oven to 150c/ 300f/ gas mark 2 ,add the flour ,zest and egg to the fruit mix and stir with a wooden spoon until thoroughly mixed . 3) tune the mixture in to the tin/tins and level the tops ,bake in the middle of the oven for the required time until the tea bread is well risen ,AND firm to the touch and a fine skewer cones out clean .leave in the tin for 10min, then loosen with a knife .tune the tea bread out and leave on a wire rack to cool .remove the paper and slice and butter . IF I make two I put one in the freezerfor another time.Take care and all,the best .😊😊👍👍🐶
Thank you for the recipe! ❤
I'm not the biggest eater of sweet things but I have to admit that I do like malt bread and only last week I had a scone with jam and cream and raisins and currants baked through, and even though I'm type two diabetic I still manage to keep my blood sugars on the low side
Hi Michael, Happy Tuesday! Enjoy the malt breads too, regarding the type two diabetes - congrats on keeping it under control. Of the symptoms, is the fatigue the worst?
I don't really get any symptoms from the diabetes except for sometimes feeling thirsty, I was diagnosed with it about 30 years ago
WAS IT OUR JELLY OR YOURS WHICH IS JAM.
It says “Jellies” on the packet so they could be little jelly sweets.
Honestly we didn't notice much of anything jelly-like in the Cherry Jellies, but I think there were little pieces in it?
@@nigelanscombe8658 I think that is what it was supposed to be, but they weren't very noticeable.
A full sized Soreen malt loaf is better, traditionally sliced with plenty of butter spread on top. Those little bars are a gimmick and rather unpleasant.
We enjoyed the malt loaf when we tried it. I can see these bars being nice to toss in a lunch box.
No more calorie counts please as nobody cares... Tell us how tasty it is.
We'll definitely let you know how good it is.
