Loved watching this video! I am going to Vet Tech school in July and this was very helpful for me! Never thought of getting spandex, makes so much sense!! Lol!! You should totally make a vet tech series! There isnt much content related to vet tech and I think you would be great! :)

Definely get youself a pair of Bandage acissors, but get a crazy color or something unique so you always know they are yours. I also recommend looking to get Veterinay PDQ and a small notebook.

I loved this video! I totally agree about the scrubs part, I went to uniform advantage and spent like $100+ on some cute scrubs but then my management decided no more fun scrubs :( I went to Walmart to get a new pair of bottoms for my uniform (the bottoms they gave me does not fit me well AT ALL) and I was surprised at the quality and price of their scrubs! Now I am buying all of my scrubs at Walmart! Also, for the shoes, I love the sketchers brand, I recently bough a pair that has no laces, has an exterior that is water resistant, and they are also slip resistant! Best purchase ever lol You got yourself a new sub today (me!)

Great tips! The spandex under the scrubs are definitely a life saver, also, I get mine that are knee length or so just because of chafing of the thighs. I mostly do emergency and the amount of walking combined with sweat will make you not want to move the next day, so highly recommend these. Love the tips for the sharpies, i usually grab one of the "will bite" stickers, everyone knows who it belongs to lol. You are definitely right though, these tips would have been awesome if someone would have offered these words of wisdom at the beginning of my career! Especially the spandex and yeah...NO ONE wants to see our cracks and some almost seem like they're proud of em! smdh lol

Current CSR soon to start a tech program and the number one thing I found with scrubs is that the Amazon GT Performance 4FLEX are the best I've ever owned. Light weight and breathable, jogger style(ma favorite since the cats like to try to hide in pant legs), drawstring waistband, 2 pocket top, 3 pocket pant, and super affordable. I paid $32 for a set, prime shipping and easy returns and loads of super cool colors. Totally worth it imo

Great tips! Walmart scrubs is also where I started but they fade over time. I also recommend checking thrift shops because they are donated often. If you can afford new scrubs, I recommend scrubs with stretch and moisture wicking if possible because bodily fluids will be on you. As for what's in my pockets, I agree about labeling your pens with washi tape. I always have multiple pens, 2 Sharpies (I'm stealing your Ultra Fine idea,) a highlighter, my bandage scissors and chapstick.

I found most of this video pretty helpful other then the uniform bits, but that’s just because the vet surgery I’m going to be working at (I start Monday, yay!!) is a rural veterinary clinic in outback QLD Australia, where we don’t wear scrubs and joggers (sneakers) but we wear jeans, uniform shirts and riding boots. I do think keeping extra clothes handy would be super useful, especially during pregnancy testing of cattle seasons or bull semen testing seasons.

Very true! The one about hair ties and keeping your hair out of your face is legit. I started having migraines from headbands and bobby pins I used at work (my hair was above shoulder length and wouldn't go into a ponytail well), so I just had it chopped into a longer pixie cut earlier this year. Have to tell you, it's the best decision I ever made. I wash it, brush it, and go to work. No products, no ties or bobby pins.
The only one where we might disagree is on scrubs. Walmart scrubs are good quality, but they definitely don't handle the abuse like some of my good ones. And the hair!! I buy ones that have 4-way stretch, which means the hair literally falls off. I have to wear black on certain days (we have a rotating color schedule 🙄), and I almost never have to use a lint roller, except maybe when we get a double coated dog in. They also tend to launder better and have a longer life than my Walmart ones did. I'm personally a Barco One girl, but anything with 4 way stretch will do. I have a pair that has been in use for 4 years and is still going strong.
Also for laundering scrubs to help them last longer: Lysol bleach alternative, instead of actual bleach. It still has a disinfectant quality, but without harsh chemicals. I also never put mine in the dryer. They go straight from the washer to hang on my drying rack. Scrub material is generally fast drying, so I finish up right before bed and they're always dry by morning.

Yes! Wal mart and Roses sell scrubs. However, you can find some really high quality scrubs in awesome condition from thrift stores. I get compliments all the time for my unique (and formerly expensive) scrubs and always reply "Thanks! They were 3 bucks!" Meanwhile, my coworkers are spending 100-200 dollars on monogrammed scrubs and once they're stained, that's a bummer.
Compression socks/stockings are such a life saver to prevent varicose veins.

With the shoe part. Make sure they are machine washable because trust me, the stuff that gets on your shoes is amazing. It's also good the pocket because it stops you from having to throw them out

For scrubs, check your goodwill! I've bought plenty of form fitting Dickies brand scrubs for no more than 5 bucks!

I’ve been a vet tech for a while and have never heard of the compression socks or spanks tricks, may have to try them out.
