For the respiratory rate always make sure you take note of their effort! Their rate could be normal but if they're forcing air out and having a difficult time breathing, the numbers don't matter! Very informational video!

brianna d hey! I worked emergency for a while. Make sure youâre comfortable triaging and prioritizing. Those are the two most important things in my head. Also remember you can only do so much, do not rush to get things done thatâs where mistakes happen. Emergency is a crazy world. Good luck!! Lmk if you have specific questions.

Temp information is off, a dogs temp ranges from 100-102.5, cats 100.4 to 102.5 although itâs subjective like a lot of other things in the vet field. For instance I was taught in school that dogs were 99.5 to 102.5 and cats were 100-103 . But def not 103.8 in a dog so Iâm not sure what that chart was about

What you need to know (sorry for my spelling I'm taking vet assistant classes right now)
1. Be confident
2 general idea parisites prevention heartworm,flea try to know active ingredient but not required
Heartgaurd
Sentinel
Tri heart ect
- irimection should not be given to sheep dogs heartgaurd,tri heart no go
Flees- Frontline ,(revolution for cats )
4. Heartworm cycle test around 6 months -yr depends on clinic prepain per is 6-9 mths
5.Vaccine schedule -core vs non core vaccine when given dogs,cats
6. Know pulses, temp, respiratory rate for cats,dogs.

would the questions being asked by the interviewer be different if it was for an assistant, not a tech, job?
I think so, but it also depends on what kind of assistant you will be. Youâd know what knowledge they expect you to know by the job positing. When I was an assistant/kennel technician they focused on handling patients and cleaning protocols. Most places will teach you how they want those things done.
If you have thousands of hours of experience can you just take the test, or do you have to go to school for the CVT/LVT to take the exam?
As long as you have two years of experience and a doctor is willing to sign off on paperwork stating that you have completed all the required tasks. You can test through Wisconsin. The only caveat is that you cannot transfer your license to a different state that requires a two or four year program.

The license process is different by state. I only know info for Wisconsin and Florida.

Yhulieanna Marquez thank you! No I was not. I donât think itâs common in Florida. I did ask my co workers if they had for previous jobs and one did when she interviewed in Oregon. So I guess it depends on the state you workđ€·ââïž

Thatâs so interesting how itâs different in different places. Iâm In Canada and my job title is RVT (registered vet tech). Well congrats on passing that exam. I was so relieved when I passed !
Candis Crocket ooooo I love how Canadians say certain words đ I watched MBC vet tech review and Iâm pretty sure those techs are from Canada. Lol.
The textbook we have right now gives us the terms for both US and Canada, and we are expected to know both. I haven't heard a lot of these things pronounced yet, just seen them written, but I gotcha, girl. Understood perfectly.

I feel like it depends more on where you live and if youâre doing general practice or specialty. Generally, when you work specialty or ER you can do okay. Iâm not sure how anyone who works GP lives alone. đ„Ž
@@vtneandbeyond9130 I agree, I'm studying to become a VT and I live in NY. The pay salaries are pretty decent here, with many- including benifets. I know, because I've already been checking out the job listings. I think I would like to work in ER. My beloved Chihuahua, Mia of 14 years passed away almost 2 years ago. The ER hospital I took her to was amazing! The doctor and staff were so caring and didn't treat me with callus. They looked after my baby so tenderly- it's Time for a career change. I should have started 2 years ago. Actually would be great to land a job at that same hospital. Help others like they helped me and my fur-baby. I apologise for lengthy comment and going off track. Thank you!
@@moonlightprincess449 you could specialize in basically anything. ECC, internal medicine, oncology, anesthesia, radiology. Each specialty requires something different as far as years of experience and continuing education
