    Thank you so much for your video! I'm taking my VTNE tomorrow and have been taking practice tests and continued to get solution calculations wrong! I just struggled so much to break it down for solving. Your video helped me so get everything in the right place.

      Hey, I know your comment was 8 months ago and idk if you still need help with percentages but if it’s a solution, so in this case a 5% solution that equals to 5 g/ 100 ml, you then convert the g to mg, there are 1000 mg in 1 g so you would multiply by 1000 mg, this is what that will look like: 5 g/ 100 ml x 1000 mg / 1 g = you would then get 5000 mg/ 100 ml, now you simplify, divide both sides by 100 then you would be left with 50 mg/ml.

    Goodluck Ashely! Hope it goes well! Question, The standard of CPR has come a long way in veterinary medicine, today, we’re thankful for the RECOVER guidelines.. my question is, what is the roll of a veterinary nurse during a code?are they allowed to “lead” the team per se? Is that stated in the RECOVER guidelines ?

    Hello, I am prepping for my VTNE in April and really struggle with fluid calculations.
    I don’t understand how adding a zero works to the whole percent concentration. I really struggle with that. I’m guessing it is just a math rule that I shouldn’t worry about lol. Also, I was having trouble following you on the last big problem. You explained how to do it well but not why you did what you did on some parts. Do you mind posting more of those type questions?

    Hi there Ashley, I am Amy, nice to meet you. I came across your CZcams channel and I loved it. Congrats on passing the VTNE exam. I am taking the exam in April. I came upon your channel because I was looking for help with calculations. You make it very easy to understand. I was wondering if you could explain this problem.
    A 20-kg patient is currently receiving 52 ml/hr of Lactated Ringer's Solution. The clinician has requested that 2 mg/kg/day of metoclopramide be added to the bag. Metoclopramide is available as a 5 mg/ml solution. How many milliliters do you need to add to a 1 liter bag?

    • @vtneandbeyond9130
      @vtneandbeyond9130  Před 4 lety

      Amy Brito okay, so I wish I could show you a picture of my work but here it goes. Weight: 20kg Rate: 52ml/hr. Dose: 2mg/kg/day Concentration: 5mg/ml -----------------------. Part 1: find how many hours the bag lasts (1000mls/52mls= 19.23hrs) -----------------------. Part 2: plug and chug (2mg/kg x 20kg)=40mg (40mg/24hrs)= 1.7mg/hr -----------------------. Part 3: (1.7mg/hr divided by 5mg/ml)= 0.33ml/hr. -----------------------. Part 4: (0.33ml x 19.23hrs) = 6.4ml You would add 6.4mls to EACH one liter bag needed for the whole day
