  • @RobertoFarrenPhoto
    @RobertoFarrenPhoto Před 4 měsíci +5

    I've got the AT3Ws and love those things. The one thing that I've noticed with the AT4Ws is that while the sidewalls and side biters do look more aggressive, they have definitely closed up the lug spacing on the blocks around the outside of the tread pattern. I popped into the local tire store and saw them in person side by side and you can see clearly they closed them up making them seem less aggressive in that area of the tread. I would assume that you get less performance off road given that, than you would with the AT3Ws as you'll clog up quicker and evacuate less. Maybe it's offset somewhat by the stepped lug pattern around the edge but the lug gaps are definitely noticeable. From my point of view I think the AT3Ws looks a nicer more aggressive tire.

    • @lawsonorsak8380
      @lawsonorsak8380 Před 4 měsíci +1

      No idea how you think a much flatter tire looks more aggressive. Side by side its like night and day difference, & I'd say the AT4W's nearly look like mud terrains.

      @@DanBrando so I ended up putting a set of Toyo Open Country RT Trails in 285/70R17 C load on the 4runner. Only had them six weeks but had them in the wet, on the road and the trail and they’ve been awesome. They came in at 56lbs which beat the Falken Wildpeak AT4W one size down 275 C load. That said I’m eyeing the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT in the 285 SL load for winter which are only 46lb (the same weight as the AT3Ws in 265 SL) and are 3 peak snow rated with a tread warranty of 60K miles if you go with the SUV version of the tire. The Toyo RT Trails are not 3PMS rated and I’m up in New England so do see snow, especially winter camping in the Whites. I appreciate running two sets of tires is expensive but I’ll offset the wear in the long run.

    • @sumokaa
      @sumokaa Před měsícem +1

      @@IcutmetalHard for it to be subjective when the tire makers main advertising is how much more aggressive they are. Plus they physically are more aggressive with larger chunks of rubber on the sidewall.
      Either way, my opinion doesn’t really matter. IMO they kind of ruined them by making them so ridiculously heavy they are basically mud tries. This takes away the main point of running an AT (at least for me). I can run an E load Geolander MT & be like 6lbs lighter per tire! That’s just insane

    Bought a set a month ago for my 2011 F150 FX4. I'm disappointed in the highway driving performac. The tires require a lot of driver attention to keep the truck on track compared to the Bridgestone Dueller Revos I had on it previously. I have to make small adjustments as if the steering is loose. I've had the car aligned by the top independent alignment shop in the area and the suspension checked, so this is not the issue. Has anyone else experienced this with these tires?

    Due to the soft treads however on Cross Climate 2’s they do not go the distance over the year and hugely suffer in durability! I agree. I got these tires on my Tundra. Feels like it has to work a little harder when accelerating. The power is still there just not as quick anymore.

      @@trailrunnah8886They are a great tire. They are built off the Baja boss mud tire. I believe they are the best A/T.Cons about the BaJa boss A/T is that they don’t last that long and the price.

    The overlanders complaining about tire weight is insane, your metal bumpers weights more💀

    • @KojiGaming
      @KojiGaming Před 2 měsíci +2

      There's a huge difference between unsprung weight (Your wheels, tires, hubs, etc) and your bumpers.
      Adding a lot of unsprung weight (Weight not suspended by suspension components) can cause a lot of premature drivetrain wear, specifically it can wear your transmission out pretty quickly. Whereas heavy bumpers won't do that because they are static mass suspended by the suspension vs. rotational mass that is directly connected to the pavement and drivetrain components.
