Usually those aftermarket reverse cameras are tied into the brake light housing because they use the reverse lights to send signal to the head unit causing it to switch into backup camera mode. So, if you guys did work on those there's a good chance you may have inadvertently disconnected the signal wire which would cause that condition. Source, I've installed a bunch of them for customers. Also, most aftermarket units (I don't know of any) do not tap into the steering Tae sensor. That is something you only see from the factory.

The adjustment should take up the slight difference in outside diameter, if needed. Some General Motors the bushing is not replaceable. I used Ford bushing on an older GMC, turned and expensive repair into an inexpensive repair. The guy above used rubber hose. These strikers are a bxxxxh. Ford used to grease them with a sticky, black grease, like on a 1980 Thunderbird, ruined a new silk shirt. This car broke me from the Ford habit. Since then I have never bought another new Ford. The BCM however will not output that signal unless the engine is running and because of that, the output from that module fails. I have a similar Pioneer radio in my car. I had it installed as the stock radio did not support Android Auto, only iPhones. Guess who is an Android user? They were very popular about 5 years ago as Apple were paying for makers to support their product first before Android. This has (mostly) been corrected now. I don't have that problem on my radio (so far) and the camera works as expected. There are no directional change/wobbly lines as you turn the wheel on the one I have either.

If you bring your vehicle in for repair/ service and it’s full of rubbish. The garage has the right to reject that vehicle. It could come under the heading Health and Safety.
The vehicle is stuffed with rubbish which could be a health or safety issue to persons working on it.
Garages and their employees should not have to be put at any risk due to someone who likes to drive around in a skip !!!!!🤧

The Pioneer radio has a wire usually purple 🟣 (sometimes with a light colored stripe) and labeled reverse gear input that should be connected to the vehicle reverse lamp (+) wire. If the reverse lamps are not functioning when reverse is selected with the ignition on, diagnose that issue. If the reverse lamps function properly and the camera worked previously the connection between the reverse (+) input on the radio and the reverse lamp (+) has been lost. What you adjusted on the door jam is usually called the striker. love this channel, have learned so much about technique, procedures and patience by watching.

I'd have started the billing stopwatch, calmly and carefully removed every single item that wasn't bolted down, went on a test drive, then calmly and carefully put everything back into the customer's Chevrolet Tahoe storage unit. That's an easy three-fourths of an hour of customer stupidity. You really should start charging people for willful stupidity. It's like spraying weed-killer, man - it may not be pleasant, but if you don't do it... the weeds just keep on growing (and multiplying).

I’d be careful about speculating too much. I could see a scenario where one of those wires goes from the head unit to the reverse lamps somewhere and got pulled on while changing the brake switch. Most wires terminated with a butt connector can break off clean when pulled on. I’d probably check to see if one of those had power in reverse before totally dismissing it. While people will lie to get something fixed for free I try to give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

also, aftermarket cameras use a tap from the backup lights to turn on the camera and tell the head unit that it needs to switch to that input. im guessing this particular head unit can send 12v back through that line, mine does not so if anyone messed with the backup lights that line might've been either severed or wasn't spliced very well to begin with.

The reverse light's turning on actuates the reverse cam. These aftermarket units are designed that when the unit's (dedicated) wire - which is spliced into the reverse light circuit- gets the voltage, it switches the screen to the reverse camera.
Those dangling cut wires might have been it, cut by the break switch installer. I personally installed one of those head units in the car referenced at the end.
I'm not an anti car-mechanic, on the contrary, I love your vids - but I can tell you MANY of my own stories, when the repair of one thing damaged something else.
