Those wobbly vents work ok but require cleaning. The axle seal probably started leaking because the vent was clogged and when the axle got hot the pressure had to go somewhere. With the new axle seal it went somewhere else, I am surprised it wasn't out the other side seal. When anything is done to the axle the vent should be checked (make sure it wiggles) and clean it to ensure it wiggles.

If you noticed he had removed a cap on the vent and cleaned it because it was plugged with oily dirt a car like that is not expected to be used off-road so it really isn't necessary to have a long hose. It could be just the climate where the car is used because as you know in warmer climate oil will expand a lot more and as he said if you're basically hot rodding it it's going to heat up faster and expand. In that case a taller vent would be sufficient.

Yeah, that axle vent gets nasty; had to clean mine out awhile back for leaking, too. Later got replaced (repair shop somehow damaged the cap when putting a new gear set in). Hard use will net some overflow as well in time. The 70w90 is the stuff and if using one for competition (drag or heavy spirited driving, for example) I recommend a girdled cover. Ford put 75w140 in it originally...for some reason, so I burnt up some axle bearings PLUS a hard bit on the strip ate chunks out of the carrier bearings along with destroying the stupid 2-pc driveshaft. Now have a solid 1-pc steel shaft, custom-made for the car by a buddy that makes HD off-road ones, new everything, and all is well! The 8.8 is tough and versatile, but maintenance is key. Also, if the vehicle sits too long, expect seepage from the axle/pinion seals...along with a LITTLE from driving it; nature of the beast with how the seals work. Great video, thanks!

For the reading of 10,424,904 miles on the odometer: this looks like the maximal integer value for a 24 bit number, if we assume the scan tool internally works with kilometers instead of miles.
When we use the following conversion factor for miles -> km :1.60934, we get the following.
    (2^24-1)/1.60934 = 10,424,903.997
A mere 0.003 miles off what the scantool says.
Seems too close to be a coincidence.
(Mind you, this is not the most exact conversion factor, the actual one is 1.609344, so I truncated the final 4)
Why the scantool -- or the car's internal computer -- works with a 24 bit unsigned integer in this millennium is a mystery to me. Perhaps someone else can fill that bit of the mystery in.

As a real world occurrence, this happened during a town election in Europe when a bit flip caused one of the candidates to have obscenely more electronic votes than the town population. A hint was that the vote count was also almost exactly a base 2 number.

After cleaning the surface, screw the headless bolts into two of the top bolt holes, and hang the cover from the bolts while you get the rest started.
