    10 Must Know Hidden Features And Routine Maintenance Items BMW E90 E91 E92 E93 !!!
    The BMW E90/E91/E92/E93 series is the fifth generation of the BMW 3 Series range of entry-level luxury cars, and was produced from 2004 to 2013. The body styles of the range are:
    4-door sedan/saloon (E90 model code)
    estate/wagon (E91 model code, marketed as "Touring")
    coupé (E92 model code)
    cabriolet (E93 model code)
    Due to the separate model codes for each body style, the term "E9X" is sometimes used to describe this generation of the 3 Series.
    The range was introduced in 2004 with the sedan and estate body styles. The coupe was introduced in 2006 and the cabriolet was introduced in 2007. In 2012, the E90/E91 sedans and wagons were replaced by the F30/F31 models. However, the E92/E93 coupes and cabriolets remained in production until 2013,[6] when they were replaced by the F32/F33 models.
    In 2007, the 335i became the first 3 Series model to be sold with a turbocharged petrol engine. The E9X family also saw the introduction of run-flat tyres to the 3 Series range. Consequently, cars with run-flats are not equipped with a spare tyre.
    The E90/E92/E93 M3 is the only M3 to be propelled by a V8 engine. Released in 2007,[7] it uses BMW's S65B40 engine and was produced in sedan, coupe and cabriolet body styles.

    Just stumbled upon your vid. I’d like to add that the key in the glovebox is actually a casing for a plastic key that you keep in your wallet. I got mine delivered after contacting BMW. Also, behind the placeholder for that key casing, there should be a small flash light that is always charged, it does not seem your car had it tho. Finally, when I hold the arrow button on the key fab my windows and sunroof will open and if I forget to close a window or sunroof after exiting the car I just insert the key in the door turn right and hold and the window(s), sunroof will close and the mirrors will fold up!😁

    My n54 runs like a champ! I wouldnt trade it for anything! Its got 142k on it but i keep it very well maintained (oil change every 3k miles) all fluids changed on half recommended schedule with a cobb tuner on just a stage 1 and never replaced anything major. Just coil packs, vanos solenoids, a few gaskets but the performance is worth every penny!

    If I didn’t use the coolant bleeder valve and just topped off my coolant a little will it cause any problems? Will do it this way next time if for some reason it gets low. I bought a e93 335 and it gave me coolant low warning and just added maybe 4-6oz of fluid. That won’t cause any problems will it? Wish I saw this video sooner thanks Nathan

    Nathan's DIY Garage hi Nathan, this is an outstanding video. I’ve owned 2 e90’s and still do, having learned some from this. One question: on my 06 325xi 6mt wagon, the rear left (driver’s side) tire is wearing inordinately and on the inside; yet the rest of the tires are fine. It was aligned at the dealer awhile back and I’ve hit nothing. It has 162000 on it. Could it be a bearing / lower control arm or bushing? It makes an oscillation noise (low and not too loud) when rolling in neutral even at speeds as low as 15mph. Tires were recently replaced. Thanks.

      Pavan Pavan this will have the N47 engine, be sure to check if the timing chain has been replaced or if not make sure you start the engine from cold before you buy, if you hear a rattle the chain is wearing out, or if you hear a “scraping” noise in the engine when running it could be chain also, it’s a big job to do for mechanic as the engine has to come out, so will cost a lot in labour costs to your mechanic

      I bought an e90 a few weeks ago. It was in rough shape but so far every weekend I've gone through doing all the maintenance that should have been done to it 10s of thousands of miles ago and it's close to running like new.
      Most stuff you can easily do yourself, but you need tons of specific tools and socket bits (which is why most mechanics won't touch a BMW)
      But they really do seem solid it's just that you absolutely must maintain anything and everything you can touch which is alot given the large engine bay and the inherent simplicity of a inline engine over a V configuration

    FYI,
    1) 2007 E90 like the one in the video does not come with the 3rd key in the glove box.
    2) The "2nd precharge filter" is loaded with activated charcoal to prevent gasoline vapor from escaping back out to the atmosphere. It does not need to be replaced.

      Now you can actually buy the kit that has both filters, after some of videos I have seen with that filter completely clogged I would say this is not a true statement, things change very quickly with these cars just like buying a computer what was true when you took a course back in 2007 probably doesn't hold much truth today with a rapidly changing parts market and technology it takes constant research on a day by day basis, I will not touch a car unless I do extensive research , that keeps bad things from happening, and trust me bad things happen alot in shops and dealerships , I get to see it in the 400 to 700 questions on average every day on this channel, this isn't a 20 to 40 customer base like a shop is

    Correction to your comment about transmission reset.
    It is impossible to reset your transmission adaptations without the proper BMW software. You must use either a Schwaben BMW compatible OBD unit or the INPA suite. You cannot reset transmission via pedal manipulation no matter who tells you so.

      I reset mines by the pedal and noticed immediately the difference in driving. The jerking stopped

    • @matreyia
      @matreyia Před 5 lety

      @@siderussmith85 - if you drive with a zf6hp21, then you are in error. That is impossible to reset transmission adaptations via pedal. AND if you DO reset adaptations to zero out, you would NOT get smooth shifts, you would get insane jerky shifts because the transmission pressure lines are reset to zero and you have to do a drive programming routine for 58 miles of uninterrupted road following a specific zf pattern or acceleration, coasting, braking and interval speed driving...so that your zero values can be programmed to the current pressures in your specific car.
      Therefore, I say to you again, you did not reset transmission adaptation values. Remember, reseting adaptations on the transmission resets all line pressures values to ZERO which yields super jerky shifting. AND you MUST do a programming drive procedure to get your EGS to input proper values back into your specific car at that specific wear and tear state...otherwise, if you drive with zero reference pressure line values, you will damage your transmission due to hard shifts. Your transmission literally will have zero reference for line pressures after resetting adaptations.
      So if you say that your car drives smoothly after your pedal thingy...then you definitely did NOT reset adaptations.

      All i know is I did the pedal thing and I noticed the difference. I have the 330xi all wheel drive and the diff was slipping until i did the pedal routine.

    • @matreyia
      @matreyia Před 5 lety

      @@siderussmith85 - As I said before, I don't know what you did, but that pedal thingy has nothing to do with transmission related parts whatsoever. Pedal manipulation can set water pump priming sequence...but not transmission. BMW does not make the transmission and ZF does not allow them to interfere with their transmission technology. You can only reset via software or hardware devices specifically made to interface with the EGS unit (Electronic Getriebesteuerung - electronic gearbox). Thus they do not mix.
      Also the differential is not the same as the transmission. ZF does not make the differential.

      Junkerbunker I’ve E36, E46 and E92 and yes the older generations are more reliable, only cause they’re not as complex as the newer generation. I imagine the F30 has even more technology on board that can go wrong. E36 a great car in relatability and to work on
