Bottom line is most players are like most employees. They have no idea of big picture and don’t consider where the money comes from. Players get paid the exorbitant wages they get because of the broadcast deals, sponsorship deals, etc. They pay that with the understanding that they will make money when they broadcast the games. They set the schedule as they are paying for that privilege. If players, managers, etc want to dictate the schedule then they need to accept that the money they are accustomed to will dramatically reduce. I can’t see any of these guys driving a cab in later life as many past players have had to to live.

Look what we have now my club Wolves have to go away to Arsenal on the 26th and then away to Utd on the 28th.

Its a difficult one, I think we as fans can sometimes look at footballers and think 'oh youre earning millions of pounds get on with it', and rightly so to some degree, i agree with simon to some extent. But we also have to remember that footballers are humans, with very short careers too, so when the fixture list is so congested, theres risk of serious injury, which nobody wants, especially not a footballer, whos career is already short. There is also so much at stake in football, and when the fixture list is congested it can probably feel like nobody is capable of delivering their best due to burnout. This conversation isnt as black and white as many like to think, its not as simple as 'get on with it', but its also not as simple as 'change the fixture list. There has to be a solution somewhere in between. If the footballers are saying its too much they have to be listened to, but they also have to acceot the fact that they are the main beneficiaries of the income generated, and as a result, be willing to take a pay cut or something.

Everybody seems to forget the most important part in all this and it's recovering time. It's a real thing and 1 day is definitely not enough. The quality of football suffers and the risk of players getting injury increases heavily. We have to bear in mind an injury for a player can literally impact their career or even sometimes end their career, because that's what it is for them, it's not just playing a game of football, it's their work. You can say 'well that's what a squad is for' but then you're basically forced into playing a weaker 11 in games which ruins the integrity of the competition.

It's the fault of the managers that players overplay and break down. You know these fixtures are coning months in advance, rotate the team accordingly. Play some U23s whilst a first-teamer is given a few days rest. It's pure entitlement when they whine about the workload, trying doing a 8 or 9 hour shift in retail over the Christmas period instead of whining about playong football for 90 mins every few days.
