Yes I always forget that Selena was only 23 when she died , she was so charismatic but also had a shy vulnerable side. So sad she was just getting started.
Exactly. If people read her husbands book they’d understand the real side of her. She even said herself that performing on stage was acting (her 2nd persona/alter ego) while off-stage of course she was amazing, she was human. She had breakdowns, she had doubts, she fought with her family, and she had anxiety/was way too naive.
Also christian portrays more how selena was a hard worker and had to do everything at once

as a hispanic girl in a strict but loving household, I can say that part 1 is extremely realistic, ppl don't like that because they can't understand it. At that stage in life, family is what matters the most. Overall it was a beautiful and theatrical representation of that reality
Yeah. Some people don’t seem to get that Selena started out as a normal young woman who had amazing talent and grew and worked hard towards her fame. Everyone almost seems to remember her by the last four years before her death
It was still toxic. Selena was over 18 years old and her dad still didn’t respect her boundaries with Chris. Which is why they eloped. That’s sad

so many people hate on part one because they have never really seen Selena during those years. anything that is different is always hated on. now that part two is coming out with the Selena that most people know and love, it's obviously being more accepted. at the end of the day, both parts tell the beautiful story of Selena and her family.
I agree to an extent. For me the pacing of the story is off. Too sitcoming and road trip montages. But felt I wasn't getting enough of selena's struggles and more abt everybody else. But regardless I did enjoy part 1

Just knowing how the story ends, I can't watch anything related to Selena without just crying. I'm not even Latin American heritage and she impacted my life so dramatically. I didn't understand a word of her music, but I always felt happy when I heard her sing. She was timeless, her legacy is timeless. May she always RIP.

Same here. I am European, from a Mediterranean country, but I absolutely love Selena. I got to know her via Desi Perkins in 2016 when I was only 15 and I absolutely fell in love with her! She has inspired me so much! I hope she is in a better place now!💜

*Just finished watching season two. Not gonna lie, I definitely teared up. I’ll never forget the day she died. I was 10 years old who went to a Dallas TX school that was prominently Hispanic. It was literally like the entire school went into depression. Thank you Netflix for making this series and sharing her life with us.*

Who was crying while watching this? Tbh the reason why we didn’t really feel season 1 is because we saw something we never saw, Selena and her family struggles to fame, and we got to see a new part of Selena, this Season looks more familiar with the outfits, and everything Sel goes thru🥺❤️ I’m definitely gonna cry we lost a beautiful human being🙌🏻 I just can’t go thru this again💔😭😭😭

People wanted to see just Selena it seemed, but even Selena said she wouldn’t be where she was without her struggles and family, I liked part 1 I was glad to see where she came from, because I rarely hear about that. The original movie was good, but just didn’t have enough time to go in depth about her and her family’s earl years.

If I could go back in time and I knew her on a personal level I would've told her not to go and get a restraining order and let the police get the documents. In a way I know her family is still hurting over this tragedy I just wish that they wouldn't have to deal with the pain and that she was still alive
I love how season 2 is showing a lot of the downsides of fame and how Selena's attitude evolves BECAUSE of her fame.
The astrodome scene is so accurate that it looks like actual footage of Selena!!! Like yes I’m here for it! I already knew part 2 would be much better because Christian had more footage and information to base her portrayal off of. There are even some scenes where she looks like her to me.🥰

I think it’s good they made this series to show she was a person within an incredible loving talented family. It wasn’t just Selena but their love and commitment to one another as a family. Everyone brought the light out in one another to shine. Suzette honored her sister’s wishes well in this series.
The speech and her looking back in last seconds of this trailer gives me chills and puts knots in my stomach!

I think the only reason there’s a switch up is because people weren’t familiar with her beginnings. The 80’s era of her life isn’t the most popular. Everyone likes the last 4 years of her life the most cause no shade to Selena but it was the most interesting. She was an adult by then. Her dad was no longer the focus in her life. Her husband and balancing 2 careers (music & fashion) was her focus. She was also dealing with a lot of drama that’s perfect for entertainment..

@@remy9021 nah. As someone who actually liked and was excited for part one, part twos costumes and hair seem exponentially better. I’m not gonna say perfect because there are definitely things I don’t like in terms of costuming and script, but it just appears better

Series 2 I just watched with tears rolling down my eyes I love how it showed the difficult times, the love between Selena and Chris Perez, but mostly the love of her Parents. Selena was one of a kind a true, passionate and down to earth young lady.She left us too early, we can only imagine what more she could have achieved...but what she has left us in her songs is testament it shows longevity and the paramount of love her fans young and old still have for her today.Selena lives in all those who love her ❤.

The tv series was really good. I loved how they really dived in to how her family & personal life was like, as well as details of her music career. It's hard to put that into two hours of a movie (which already was great). I became a bigger fan of Selena watching the series, and have a great respect for her & her loved ones. ❤️🎶
