A good example of a good story telling and capturing the essence of a real person is the Luis Miguel series. The actor Diego Boneta, was excellent! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Dude can sing too he didn’t lip sync. Also loved Mariposa de Barrio.

The other day i was at work and a RN asked me about my earrings i was wearing, saying how much she loved them. So I remember how Selena would just take something off and just give it to u if u liked it, so I did the same. It felt so good to see how happy she looked when I was handing them to her, and I forgot it was mothers day!! She said this was the only present 🎁 she got that day.. that scene put me in a trance almost, I couldn't stop staring I think they nailed that scene so well that for a second my mind forgot inwas watching Christian through a screen and not Selena live right there in front of me. that moment was so special, this series really fucking took the cake !!

I thought she was great! Like she said in this interview, nobody can be exactly like Selena. She was one of a kind. Christian really tried, i dont think she could have done it better!
I think she did a decent job of portraying Selena. But the one thing I felt she needed to work on was the dancing. Because her portrayal of the live performances were kind of iffy to say the least, and I definitely felt she should have had more choreography practice. But other than that, she didn't do very bad. It was really Part 2 of the series where she really improved though.

In the Selena movie they only showed him crying for like 5 seconds. I understand how in the show they could have shown him more. But maybe because they didn’t contact him, they didn’t want to show a false portrayal of how he would have felt? They had contact with the family so it makes sense that they would show them more than they would show Chris.

Abraham took advantage of Chris grief and had him sign over the rights of Selena. My thoughts exactly! I just dont understand how they can film scenes portraying the real Selena & Chris and not know exactly how it went. Or how they would communicate when it’s just them two. No one knows except Chris and Selena and she didn’t even speak with him before filming ?! I’m sure it’s not the actors fault tho ... I feel like it’s more of the families doing.
Thankfully, we have Chris’ book to give us more insight into their lives as a couple. It’s real and raw and beautiful. You would think the family would at least use some of it for reference but it didn’t look like it. But Chris has spoken with a few cast members and has become very close friends with a number of them, so at least there is no bad blood there. Chris is so chill, I appreciate how he’s been handling things.

For the Selena movie, he didn’t want them to put when she eloped and married Chris. On the Selena series they have “Selena” bash her choice of eloping. And “she” even call her decision “stupid” which I highly doubt Selena ever would. She probably wished they’d done it differently, but I doubt she ever called her marriage to Chris a stupid choice. Her dad was super controlling and until this day, we see it still happening. I was sad seeing how guilty and how much she “blamed” herself for marrying Chris and disappointing her parents. When I personally would’ve said “Fvck my parents” and would’ve blamed them for the way I felt I had to do it. the mom barely stood up for her , the dad was controlling and all they were worried about was their cash cow coming to an end. Selena was a beautiful and kind person. All those that ever meet her have nothing but nice things to say about her (unlike her family) but she wasn’t perfect. She did things (wrong or right) out of love. She was young, had never really lived so of course she’d want to do what other young girls do. Rebel , fall in love , have intimacy etc. Thankfully with have his book. I love how he tells their story it almost makes you feel present and feel their emotions. I still hope we one day get an actual visual of their story. He could’ve easily been greedy and kept the rights to Selena as her husband but he allowed them to never have to earn money for themselves the rest of their lives. They owe him to at least let him tell his story.

I grew up admiring and mourning my idol, and now I get to share her story and her music with my 15 year old daughter. Abraham owns the rights to Selena. Chris signed his rights away in a contract shortly after Selena passed. Not saying it’s right, but legally nobody needs to reach out to him.

As a Selena fan from the age of 11 (I am 38 now) I have to say that Christian does the BEST in bringing us SELENA to live. It hurt to watch both seasons because it felt real. It felt so real. Loved both seasons.
I think it's funny that no one cried about JHo not wearing the band-aid in the movie. I love that the series was more historically accurate than the movie. There was no Suzette & no Pete at the Astrodome performance yet there they were in the movie 🤦♀️
He wrote a book, and that’s about all we’re gonna get because Abraham sued him for trying to do a tv series based on their relationship and that book just a few years ago. And then all of a sudden, they announce this one on Selena with Netflix. Fans were pretty upset about it.

The series was so beautiful! It was awesome to see more of her actual life and the struggle they went through to make it so big and all the hard work they put into making it a career! I had my doubts at first but after sticking with it and watching the whole series i feel Christina Serratos embodied Selenas spirit, the main complaint i heard from people is that Serratos was far from being as curvy as Selena and she looked nothing like her,people complained the Jennifer Lopez was a better match because JLO had curves, this was not about selenas body it was about selena and who she was, i feel Christina nailed it and was happy to see the whole thing. I was in high school when Selena passed and even though i know the ending to see the ending again made me cry as a 40 yr old man, now that is the power of Great Acting and story telling. I am 15 and I am a huge fan of Selena!I got a record player for christmas and before I got her vinyl I had never heard of her or listen to any of her music, and now I can’t get enough ! She was not just a great singer she was a wonderful person full of happiness, I watched both the movie and the whole series and I have to say the series was my favorite it was a great way to see how some of her songs were made and learn about her and her story!!

I thought she was great! Like she said in this interview, nobody can be exactly like Selena. She was one of a kind. Christian really tried, i dont think she could have done it better!

I think she did a decent job of portraying Selena. But the one thing I felt she needed to work on was the dancing. Because her portrayal of the live performances were kind of iffy to say the least, and I definitely felt she should have had more choreography practice. But other than that, she didn't do very bad. It was really Part 2 of the series where she really improved though.

In the Selena movie they only showed him crying for like 5 seconds. I understand how in the show they could have shown him more. But maybe because they didn’t contact him, they didn’t want to show a false portrayal of how he would have felt? They had contact with the family so it makes sense that they would show them more than they would show Chris.

They didn't get to into anyone. They had him laying on their bed listening to a song they had planned their lives around.
“I’d love to chat” WEELLLL, did you reach out??? It’s sad how no one takes him into consideration. The dad never really liked him. But Chris Perez did him a huge favor. Abraham took advantage of Chris grief and had him sign over the rights of Selena. Thanks to Chris and Selena that family were set for the rest of their lives and didn’t have to get a job for themselves. So ungrateful. They don’t even let him tell his story in a movie/series.
My thoughts exactly! I just dont understand how they can film scenes portraying the real Selena & Chris and not know exactly how it went. Or how they would communicate when it’s just them two. No one knows except Chris and Selena and she didn’t even speak with him before filming ?! I’m sure it’s not the actors fault tho ... I feel like it’s more of the families doing.
Thankfully, we have Chris’ book to give us more insight into their lives as a couple. It’s real and raw and beautiful. You would think the family would at least use some of it for reference but it didn’t look like it. But Chris has spoken with a few cast members and has become very close friends with a number of them, so at least there is no bad blood there. Chris is so chill, I appreciate how he’s been handling things.
@@steffatkins4569 that’s why I don’t take anything related to Chris and Selena’s story as facts because the dad didn’t like Chris and wanted to hide stuff. For the Selena movie, he didn’t want them to put when she eloped and married Chris. On the Selena series they have “Selena” bash her choice of eloping. And “she” even call her decision “stupid” which I highly doubt Selena ever would. She probably wished they’d done it differently, but I doubt she ever called her marriage to Chris a stupid choice. Her dad was super controlling and until this day, we see it still happening. I was sad seeing how guilty and how much she “blamed” herself for marrying Chris and disappointing her parents. When I personally would’ve said “Fvck my parents” and would’ve blamed them for the way I felt I had to do it. the mom barely stood up for her , the dad was controlling and all they were worried about was their cash cow coming to an end. They didn’t mind when AB and suzette had partners but it was an issue when it was Selena. Lol
@@melindamercier6811 yes! You notice how some people that end up playing a part of Selena’s story end up gravitating towards Chris? Because they know something is missing. Selena was a beautiful and kind person. All those that ever meet her have nothing but nice things to say about her (unlike her family) but she wasn’t perfect. She did things (wrong or right) out of love. She was young, had never really lived so of course she’d want to do what other young girls do. Rebel , fall in love , have intimacy etc. Thankfully with have his book. I love how he tells their story it almost makes you feel present and feel their emotions. I still hope we one day get an actual visual of their story. He could’ve easily been greedy and kept the rights to Selena as her husband but he allowed them to never have to earn money for themselves the rest of their lives. They owe him to at least let him tell his story.

Thank you, Christian for taking this role so seriously, and portraying Selena’s energy with so much love, respect, and professionalism. I grew up admiring and mourning my idol, and now I get to share her story and her music with my 15 year old daughter. We need more Mexican American, Black, Asian, Native, and women of color stories everywhere!! 💖

Chris signed his rights away in a contract shortly after Selena passed.
Not saying it’s right, but legally nobody needs to reach out to him.

As a Selena fan from the age of 11 (I am 38 now) I have to say that Christian does the BEST in bringing us SELENA to live. It hurt to watch both seasons because it felt real. It felt so real. Loved both seasons.

He wrote a book, and that’s about all we’re gonna get because Abraham sued him for trying to do a tv series based on their relationship and that book just a few years ago. And then all of a sudden, they announce this one on Selena with Netflix. Fans were pretty upset about it.

I had my doubts at first but after sticking with it and watching the whole series i feel Christina Serratos embodied Selenas spirit, the main complaint i heard from people is that Serratos was far from being as curvy as Selena and she looked nothing like her,people complained the Jennifer Lopez was a better match because JLO had curves, this was not about selenas body it was about selena and who she was, i feel Christina nailed it and was happy to see the whole thing. I was in high school when Selena passed and even though i know the ending to see the ending again made me cry as a 40 yr old man, now that is the power of Great Acting and story telling. Christina if you read this te mando un beso you're hot!!!

I am 15 and I am a huge fan of Selena!I got a record player for christmas and before I got her vinyl I had never heard of her or listen to any of her music, and now I can’t get enough ! She was not just a great singer she was a wonderful person full of happiness, I watched both the movie and the whole series and I have to say the series was my favorite it was a great way to see how some of her songs were made and learn about her and her story!!
