Thank you for discussing this and what it entails. Right now I’m working in a Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (UK) so I’m effectively working from home. What I’ve found is that the service is still functional whilst WFH.

Yeah, remote work is the new norm.
Yeah, I see a lot changing with how things are done. I’ve done defense social work at a law firm and the way we have had to advocate for clients to have them released from arraignments without meeting them in person is difficult. But we have been able to do it. I got my client reparases from jail without having to be physically present in court and I was so worried for her but was able to secure a shelter for her to stay in.
Edit: Can you talk about how to get your n a board of a non-profit as a social worker?
Edit 2: the homeless and overdose rate has increased in my county. I the parts of my county where the poverty rate if high, there are more homeless folks in the street sleeping on the train vents for heat at night and grills set-up, where people grill food that they find or is given to them from local stores.
Thank you for bringing up your perspective. I'm glad you have still been able to be successful in your job and help your clients. And in the U.S, the homeless rates have also increased. It's very unfortunate. As far as getting on a board, I started off by volunteering for a non profit and then after a year, I asked if there were other ways I could be involved, and they then mentioned their local advisory board. Starting off as a volunteer can get your foot in the door. Also, Idealist.org often list board openings.
I believe it will change, I just hope they pay raises. I believe this because there are a good amount of students studying social work, more ppl means...
Ma’am, what is your take on Medical & Psychiatry Social Workers in the western culture?
Hello. Medical Social Workers are really needed to support patients in hospitals. I think it’s a very necessary role and good option if you are okay with working in a hospital setting.
