In this video I showcase my three custom walnut stocks for the ATI Nova Liberty and test shooting slugs. Special thank you to Danny for the introduction to this video
The Outback line had me dying! The moment at 21:27 is the story of my life!!! Never fails! Congratulations on the slug making journey you are on Steve. Those stocks that you hand made are absolutely beautiful! You sir are a talented dude whom I am lucky to call a friend. That said, send some of those slugs will ya! 😉
Hey Haji, glad I made you laugh. Thanks again for the kind words. I too am thankful for your friendship and words of wisdom. You are a wise man! I will definitely get some slugs your way.
Really nice work and again good info, thank you for sharing. Keep up the good work you are doing and it is amazing how far we came in the airgun industries.
Slugs are a real challenge, A high end manufacturer was almost ready to give up on a target grade slug barrel option then found the magic pixie dust to make them work. A camera at the bench in the line of sight will be very helpful to see what the slugs are doing. Sun at your back will make them show up well.
Hi Steve I just want to thank you for all the research you have put on video. I have been a spring gun shooter for years, always wanted to step up to pcp but wasn't comfortable spending over 1000 dollars on an airgun. But yesterday I made the leap. ATI has the Liberty back in stock in 22 with the plastic stock so I bought one. And with alot of help from google I found a laminated gun stock blank from a company in Finland called Lamnia. They had it in the color I was looking for so I bought one of those too...... Again love your channel. Thanks for making it much easier to make the leap!
Love your detailed videos Steve. The outback & the peeps cracked me up lol. That looks like a Corbin press. I've been looking into them but with making a flat base slug. I'm very interested in how the rest of the slugs will work. Thank you for this video.
Great Job Stephen! Remember, it is not the weight that makes the difference needed in twist rate, it is the length of the projectile itself. Many make this assumption. You can really see the performance difference when trying Boat tails and flat base of the same weights. Nice stocks! Such a shame the cost is mostly prohibitive for the average shooter to go to the swaging systems. This looks to be a Corbin. Happily, my cast fall into the same weight variances. I can actually afford, (barely) to experiment with different molds, and actually mod molds to get where I wish to be with accuracy and fpe. Thank you for the very detailed vid. Steven. Well done Sir! KnifeMaker
Excellent video, thank you so much for all the hard work and money/time invested to further our sport! Follow all your videos and you have influenced me into certain purchases and exploration. I can't say how much I appreciate (or how jealous I am) for the time you have into this. The Nova seems like a great platform to start tuning with, your stocks are crazy nice too and the fact you can call them "made by ME" is priceless. As for the content; I'd like to see a similar comparison with boat tail or flat based bullets. The other guys making air gun slugs don't make skirted bullets, I like the idea but I've got to think they DONT do it for a reason. (3) shots in the same or close hole means nothing if (2) out of (5) make the group 2" - you can't rely on the shot to be consistent and I'm not trying to bust on you I just think if the flight path were slowed down you'd see those things spiraling all over and the close ones are lucky and the data isnt profitable to make conclusions with by only shooting (5) at one speed. You're bullets shoot have a crazy good BC, maybe flatten the nose a little if you can - my puncher breaker shoots Varmint Knocker 2S noses better than the smaller hollow point nose 24's. I'm shooting the 22.5's at 920-940fps at .63" at 80yds but heres the crazy part... they also shoot about .55" at 35yds...! slugs act differently then pellets (abviously) and that confused me, the group size doesn't really grow much with distance.. thanks and look forward to more testing. My barrel is a 1:17 twist btw, maybe try your bullets in the Jumbo to justify your design and or reconcile twist rate.
Thank you for taking the time to help. I appreciate constructive feedback. I will be trying more types of slugs and weights. I will fill a slug that works well consistently.
Another great video. I purchased my liberty after watching your videos, and have been very impressed with it. I've done some machine work on it to make the air flow better and made a air stripper, and baffles to take the bark out if it. It shoots incredible with JSB 18 gr. And I've been trying to make up my mind which brand of slugs to try first. Thank you for taking the guesswork out of it for me. Oh and wonderfully made and beautiful stocks. Wish I had your talent. Keep up the wonderful work.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad I was able to provide good advise on this gun. Do you any video on the machine work you did. I'm sure people would love to see it. I'm working on getting the slugs up on eBay in the next day or two
I've thought about making a video, but my video equipment is probably marginal at best. There are a couple of things I do different, and materials I use that are not the norm, from what I've seen. Thanks for the encouragement.
Awesome video. Great work on the stocks and you've got those Novas shooting great. I've seen Matt Dubber shooting similar slugs out of his FX Impact (with a slug liner) and it seems the slugs like higher FPS around 920 to 950 fps for better accuracy. Only main difference would be twist rate on the barrel which would be your limiting factor for long range accuracy with slugs.
You always have me laughing !!! You are a Craftsman ! Just finished my liberty last night .. Nothing like your stocks !! All I did was remove the checkering, dye it then several coats of wipe-on poly and cut a cheek piece.. And it came out the perfect height.. Haven't even polished it.. To anxious to get shooting.. Mine is a .177 with Duy, (Dark charisma) mojo on the receiver ... Shooting NSA slugs 15.5 (980 fps) and 18 gn.. Can't wait !!
i started shooting slugs uo to 40 grains since last year out of nova freedom ,its amazing to have a air rifle thats so versatile ! VERY IMPRESSIVE VIDEO MY FRIEND !!! are you ever going to get you a nova freedom or aspen to see how it feels to be able to leave the scuba tank home ,i have been shooting the hell out of it since nov 2018 . i make sure to silicone oil it after every shooting sessions ! never modded it yet for extra power yet ,but ,i really like it ! i buy slugs from 3 different indivisuals ,but for a lot of my plinking ,i use the 14.3g crossman hollow points and 14.3gpiranhas !!! almost anything i put in this gun is dead on accuracy !!! oh one tip put a few small drops in about a tin of 25 -100 slugs and lightly shake it around to lightly lube them WOW !
Big fan of Nova Liberty. I have 2 because of you. 2 great guns for the price of 1.. One plastic stock and one wood, 1 internal suppressor and one Donny FL.The scopes cost more than the gun. lol I like adjustability and love taking them to the range. Yes , they shoot slugs well. LIKE WRIGLEY DOUBLEMINT GUM .DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE DOUBLE YOUR FUN. THAT'S RIGHT
M also a CZcamsr. you makes video with heart which I think is a good thing of CZcamsr keep it up I guarantee no far you will get millions of subscriber of love
Great video. I would push your slugs through by hand to see what pattern its getting and how deep. The slugs that are loose are not sealing in the barrel getting blow by causing destabilizing issues leaving the barrel. I would also try without hollow point. The weight balance is what your looking for. also check your crown.
Those stocks are firking beautiful. I have watched almost everything U have done, and the stocks are the most impressive!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! Would U make one for my Prod????? Just Kidding, I could not afford one that BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
I got mine Friday and watched your video on modding it.Mine is putting out 35 FPE now. I noticed the rifling is like micro grooves nothing like the rifling in my AirForce Condor.
My nova brother from another mother DR Peeps lol. Way to go your a bad man!!! It looks like the 24 gr is in lady Liberty wheel house I’m with DR H are you going to be handing them out for Halloween lol I don’t have 2 kidneys will to part with one
Steve, thanks for all the detailed insight on the Liberty over the last several episodes. My .22 Liberty should arrive next week. What are your thoughts on machining a 22 rimfire barrel to fit the Liberty....pros and cons?
Not sure but I would guess that putting a rim fire barrel on an airgun with a 1:8 twist means you will need to shoot heavier projectiles. Not sure if pellet will work well in a rim fire barrel. Could be good but it's a chance.
Excellent video!!! A question that marks is the mold? Where can I buy one? I have the same rifle I made the modifications that you explain in your very informative channel Greetings from Argentina
Steve, I wouldn't be surprised if the deep hollow base is tipping as it exits the muzzle at these velocities...similar to skirted diablo pellets. No mass in the pellet's rear makes the back of the pellet easy to tip with muzzle blast.
Steve, Really like the stocks you've made. What kind of wood did you use particularly on the third stock? What size of router bit did you use to make the "vent" holes. I am a home craft wood worker.
Positively excellent video and Ty for not making me ask you how much you paid for the slug making equipment. If you want to re-coup some of the money you put out I'll buy some .25 . Your probly busy so maybe you can get a nephew or neighbor kid to make some.
Ty for the reply, Is your barrel in the Nova choked? I have a stock choked barrel in my Condor. I would definitely buy a strong assortment of .25 slugs if you make them available
Nice videos bro Interesting will like to see them in sub 12-ftlb air rifle get the slug v wind thing .be nice if rws jsb H-N will make a perfect Pellets that ar all the same in size and gr s will put it to jsb as have spoken to Pavel lot of work to get the best and that's wot all us air heads won't
Hi, the ATI website indicates the Nova Liberty .22 shoots at 900 fps (usually you get less than advertised). Are your ATI's modified to shoot so fast? Forgive me, I watched the rest and see you can adjust the hammer spring.
Well..I think you just talked me into getting one just to tinker with. I've gone through all your videos, love the hammer spring adjuster that you made. Im going to go the same way route. But were the pin goes through I am thinking about using two small screws maybe from eye glasses and screwing them on in where's the pin go through. Just to secure a little more other than being against the stock. Any ideas? One more quick question. What size of head on the Barracuda match seems to work the best on that rifle?? I have got 5.51 and 5.52. Do I need bigger??? After I get the rifle I will be ordering some slugs from you. Just want to make sure that there is no flaws with the manufacturing of the rifle first. Your MOA shots were so dang impressive. I think that's what might have done it for me. Lol. I have plenty of PCPs but I'm looking for something to Tinker with. Last but not least, those freaking rifle stocks that you made are so beautiful. I know I sent you a comment or two about them before. Just thought I would mention it again. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make these videos. Really helps Meatheads, like myself take the guesswork out of it. I apologize for the voice texting. From New Mexico. Stay blessed my friend and Shoot Straight.👍🇺🇸🇺🇸✌
Hey Richard your are going to love the Liberty. Very easy gun to work on. There is only one issue with the poppet material being a bit too soft if you tune the gun for very high power. The fix is the have a peek poppet made by a few people of the GTA forum. Yes, I think using grub screws to hold the aluminium power adjuster block in place. Yes the 5.52 H&N barracuda match are what I'm using. Thanks for all the kind words. Best of luck! And happy holidays
@@AirVelocitySport I just went to GTA and seeing exactly what you are telling me about the poppet. Just want to say thank you for the info brother. Happy holidays to you and your family.✌🇺🇸✌
I have been looking to buy a swaging machine as slugs are not sold here in the UK. That looks like a CORBIN Swager CSP-1 with PF-1-HP die, is that right?
I am sure this video was posted twelve hours ago and I commented too??? Did you alter it to include your press or am I going potty? Thanks for the work.
so now that you are this far into it, will you please do some pellet testing at various fps? perhaps between 800-900 fps. and try some jsb pellets. ALSO, you are very consistent in your slug weights. ido not sort pellets, but for apples to apples comparison, please do a video with that same gun and duplicate this video but with different pellets and speeds. thank you. i subscribe to your channel so i am anxious to see the results. i have been searching for a comparison video for pellets vs slugs in a non biased manner. looks like you are non biased and are half way there!
Some pcps like slugs some don't , my T.H coustom kral puncher mega 25cal Loves them 40 yards nickel size 100 quarter size groups 36gr 940 fps , I been looking for solid banded slugs round nose
Steve, this stock rifle barrel shoots slugs? You mean a different barrel is not required? Please respond. Can I PM you? I have some 1 or 2 woodworkings questions for you on your custom gunstock. Thanks, Larry Smith
There are two easy adjustments to make. 1. Increase the regulator to about 2600psi and the second is the increase the hammer spring tension with one or two shims. That will get your gun to about 42 fpe. Onenof my earlier videos on the ATI Nova liberty shows in detail how to do this.
Would you be interested in selling some of these, i modded an tuned my cheif 22 around nsa 23 gr at 880 fps shooting 1 in at 75 ,,an couldn’t be happier with the results for a cheif barrel,,but unfortunately nealson stopped selling them why I don’t know.great video
Hey Teddy, I'm selling the slugs on eBay under AVS SLUGS. Thank you regarding the stock. It took me 6 weeks to make that stock. I just don't have the energy to make another one.
Mine is a Corbin but there are a few good presses you can buy. Just Google slug swage press. In the video I tell you that I spent over $3000 to get started
BEFORE YOU CAN SAFELY AND HUMANELY TAKE REAL GAME YOU MUST PRACTICE AND ACCURIZE YOUR WEAPON ! PLUS ITS FUN AS HELL ESPECIALLY AT 100 TO 200 YARDS WITH AN AIR RIFLE !
1,38g pellet (.22 baracuda) is too light when shooting longer distances...its fine for 50yards ...100y not so much, just my 2 cents. -nice video btw. :)
@@AirVelocitySport Sew in a youtube redtarget chile Chanel but it is in Spanish-speaking they have tree video of this rifle I am going to contact them if they are chiping to Mexico
21:27 MF lol looks like 844 to 860 fps with 24.75 grain cup base hollow point is the way to go . Can you put a link to the press and dies you are using ?
No sir in this point of vew i m not agree with you because i have p15 doing the same and my friend have fx i shote many time with this fx ruselt is always accurate
Yes, that could have been the problem. I tried adjusting the hammer spring to find a better velocity. Check out the second video. At 100 yards in was under an inch
@@AirVelocitySport i watched your second vid ... twice ... impressive result considering that you are diy with both gun and slugs ... sad to say i am buying my results from fx , vk and nsa

Steve, this stock rifle barrel shoots slugs? You mean a different barrel is not required? Please respond. Can I PM you? I have some 1 or 2 woodworkings questions for you on your custom gunstock. Thanks, Larry Smith
Well it's not definitive yet but that's hat I'm trying to find out. Seem promising as seen in that 100yard 1.15" CTC 5 shot group. Yes, you can PM me
@@AirVelocitySport OK. I guess I need to speak to my kids first. I don't know how to PM on this service. :-{{
Hi sir without alterations how much power we can take from alpa with slugs.
About 40 fpe in 22
How you can do this? My Alpha just do 870 fps with jsb 15.89.. you can help me ?
There are two easy adjustments to make. 1. Increase the regulator to about 2600psi and the second is the increase the hammer spring tension with one or two shims. That will get your gun to about 42 fpe. Onenof my earlier videos on the ATI Nova liberty shows in detail how to do this.
Air Velocity Sport tks... i Watch your vídeos from Brazil
Can you introduce the next bullet mold
Would you be interested in selling some of these, i modded an tuned my cheif 22 around nsa 23 gr at 880 fps shooting 1 in at 75 ,,an couldn’t be happier with the results for a cheif barrel,,but unfortunately nealson stopped selling them why I don’t know.great video
As soon as I figure out the details I will make them available.

Hey Teddy, I'm selling the slugs on eBay under AVS SLUGS. Thank you regarding the stock. It took me 6 weeks to make that stock. I just don't have the energy to make another one.
Dear friend. What's the value of this slag-making device? and the exact name you could not tell?
Mine is a Corbin but there are a few good presses you can buy. Just Google slug swage press. In the video I tell you that I spent over $3000 to get started
@@AirVelocitySport thanks my dear
please!!! where to buy a slag-making device?
Corbin
carm magazines ... will help with flyers ... Higher quality mag.
If your just punching paper what's the point in shooting ?
BEFORE YOU CAN SAFELY AND HUMANELY TAKE REAL GAME YOU MUST PRACTICE AND ACCURIZE YOUR WEAPON ! PLUS ITS FUN AS HELL ESPECIALLY AT 100 TO 200 YARDS WITH AN AIR RIFLE !
If you have a chance. Please try neilson slugs. I can't afford the swage kits :(
I have tried neilsens but they were not that good in the Nova liberty
THEY ARE NICE BUT OVER PRICED !
1,38g pellet (.22 baracuda) is too light when shooting longer distances...its fine for 50yards ...100y not so much, just my 2 cents. -nice video btw. :)
Can I buy the mold from you?
I do not make molds. My slugs are swaged
when you gonna post some more shooting videos of your raptor
I never received my raptor. Waited 7 months with no communication. I cancelled my order. Waiting on my Avenger.
@@AirVelocitySport i will be lookin out for it
Pretty sure that's a Corbin S-Press, they run $750 just for the press itself, plus die/s and cutter. www.corbins.com/kits.htm#press
Sir what is wrong why one flayer in each nice group
That is me. I'm not the best shooter. I will be posting another video where I shot 14 groups at 100 yards all around 1"
Hi Wonderful Business How Can I Get Your Mold Is There A Seller? thank you

I tried to Google it but could not find it in .25. Where did you see the Nova Vista in .25 Cal please
Your targets are blowing in the wind bud, at least an inch.
wheres .25 ?
Im having 2 dies made right now. I will be testing them in a few weeks when they are in my possession
怎么没中文的?
No sir in this point of vew i m not agree with you because i have p15 doing the same and my friend have fx i shote many time with this fx ruselt is always accurate
maybe barrel harmonics is affecting accuracy ?
Yes, that could have been the problem. I tried adjusting the hammer spring to find a better velocity. Check out the second video. At 100 yards in was under an inch
@@AirVelocitySport i watched your second vid ... twice ... impressive result considering that you are diy with both gun and slugs ... sad to say i am buying my results from fx , vk and nsa
