    Thank you so much. After weeks of working on my 87 5.0 I couldn't figure out the rough idle after replacing just about everything from plugs to all new vac hoses. I was about to give up and found your video. It fixed it so far, I'm going to buy a new TPS today just to make sure, but ill enlarge the holes again if it does the same. Thanks again.

    Got a 91 Merc GM that was running like crap, engine light on and off, etc. Followed your video method here and the car runs fine now. Had .888 volts to start. Check engine light flashes were 63-low voltage at TP sensor. I set it at 1.08 volts. I'll take it for a drive later, see how it goes. Thanks man for the video.

    Interesting tuning tip!! I was thinking you might want to index the sensor in case you need to remove it for some reason, that way you can put it right back into position without having to re-tune.

    My 92 Idles fine has no problem revving from 1000 rpm on up, but it almost feels like it has to fight to rev right as I press the gas pedal from a lower idle. Is that the symptom you were referring to when you said "all of the hesitation is gone"?

    Thats the same exact TPS in my Buell XB12Ss, Harley Davidson wants $325 and they pretend they are running out. Motorcraft CX1133 is only like $35 bucks. Same with their 135 tooth 1 1/8" belt drives they put on all their 850lb baggers. They want $300, but its just a Continental CTAM Timing Belt HB135-118 Reference OE/OEM Number: HARLEY-DAVIDSON MC 4030700 G05001AKF, same kevlar belt. Never go to the stealerships for parts

    Oldsmob455,
    What voltage would you recommend for a 1995 SVT Cobra? At the moment I have a problem with the idle. My RPM needle bounces around way too much. And the engine even boggs out at times.
    (turns off while in use)
    Here is a list of a few mods done to my Cobra:
    V1 Vortex SC, shorty headers, Ford Lightning mass air intake, 39lb fuel injectors. The 302 engine is completely rebuilt for performance as well. Given the short summary of mods on my Cobra could you recommend a good reference for the TPS?

    Hey! Thanks for posting this. I think I have a similar issue on my '91 LX 5.0, it doesn't pull very much at all from a dead standstill, but after about 3k rpm is when it starts to get up and move. It also revs relatively slow in neutral or park. I went to go diagnose this, however I can't get a volt reading from the TPS. I did what you did and pierced the green wire with a metal pin and then hooked the volt meter to it, but it just stays at 0. Any ideas of where else I could try piercing it, or where else to hook it up to?

    • @MyMfDominoes
      @MyMfDominoes Před 6 lety +1

      Nope, got no CEL. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire TPS is junk but I imagine one of the previous owners did what you did; replaced the sensor but never adjusted it so it just felt slow. Ive been doing a decent amount of research on it and it seems like the consensus is get a reading from where the wire actually goes into the connector, but I need to take the module completely off for that and as far as I know the screws on the head of the TPS are stripped to god knows what so maybe that'll be a project for another day lol

  • @cls1000chris
    @cls1000chris Před 9 lety +5

    Like stated, don't touch your TPS sensor. This isn't 1995 anymore, and the reverse engineering of the EEC has shown that as long as its above .49 and below 1.1, once started the EEC resets this value relative to zero. Below or above those values sends a fault code. Simple.

Do a youtube search for Brew2L and follow his video on doing a base idle reset, then a TPS install and your car will be good as new.

    You are not adjusting a carb on 69 camaro. Its computer controlled, which run great when all the sensors are adjusted within spec. You just cannot adjust sensors and go by feel. You have to find what the correct factory settings are, adjust it to that and leave it the fuck alone.

    This is complete rubbish. You can look at the Ford EEC strategy and see the computer doesn't care if the voltage is anywhere from just below .6 volts to 1.2 volts. The Ford firmware accepts any key-start voltage in that range as closed throttle.Doesn't matter what it is. 2.71 volts above that is considered WOT voltage, and anything between the key start and + 2.71 over that is part throttle. Ford intentionally did this so people in the field would not need to adjust the sensor. It's right in the code for the computer. That's why Ford doesn't have an adjustment. People have to file and drill to change the setting because it was never necessary to change it. Anyone who has tuned a Ford EEC or read the documents for the EEC knows this."

      This is absolute fact Jerrythenerful. I just referenced this video to help a friend diagnose his TPS voltage. Everything else in this video is garbage. As long as the TPS is ranging correctly through the voltage the base voltage should be between .6 and 1.2. I just fixed a car quoting this exact figure before I saw this video to help a friend who is long distance. I'm going to quote this to bring it back to the top!
