Bleed and Mimic Tear are your best friend if you're struggling. Also as a reminder, most weapons that can cause bleed can also be given an ice attribute through specific Ashes of War. Doing that lets you simultaneously apply bleed and frostbite which causes the target to take more damage. Adding a mimic on top basically guarantees anything you fight will be dead in seconds.
I mean, you can just infuse it with cold and give it a standard or magic attribute. I have a frost infused flamberge with BHS that I switched to mainhand for Melania and Maliketh. But adding cold to a weapon gives it int and dex scaling (and magic damage slit).
Honestly this boss is in the top 3 in Elden ring for me. Good challenge, good boss design and arena. Music is *chefs kiss* fantastic. This took me 40 or so attempts but it just means I can appreciate it all the more.👌
And most of his attacks are well telegraphed, so you can tell what he's gonna do before he does it, and it feels like it's your fault for dying and not some cheap boss attack. The only thing I didn't like were his AOE fire breath attacks; I always got hit by those. When you get to second phase and he starts morphing his body into storm clouds to teleport around, it's super badass. Of course the laser beams, as well as the giant nuke attack, make for such epic moments in the fight. The arena is the coolest in the game, with all the lightning in the background. The music is top notch as well. Overall, the Placidusax fight is both challenging and fair, and is easily my favorite fight in the game, at least visually. My only gripe is that I wish we got the giant nuke attack as an incantation or ash of war; that move is awesome!
The only bs attack was when he would do his dive bomb left swing attack because it would leave some explosion behind and idk how to dodge or out run it

as obvious as this is, I'm pretty sure they're refering to the awful gank boss fights elden ring has, putting 2 bosses which by themselves are good bosses, but together don't really work, which is more or less the core philosophy of some of dark souls 2's worst bosses. Though even if it's meant to be a spectacle, Placidusax does the frustrating thing that big enemies do aka disappearing and going to the other side of the arena, hello Elden Beast, hello Fire Giant, it's just annoying for melee builds, and Placidusax also gets his last ditch effort attack which while looking cool as fuck can feel very cheap.
