What is your favourite bike that Tracy Moseley has ridden in her career? Let us know in the comments below! 👇
Kona years
Definitely the Kona stab. Been dreaming of owning one for years.
I remember her on those brilliant blue and yellow cannondales riding the NPS in the UK back in the day
I fell off my bike right in front of Tracy at a Mini Downhill race in 2016. I did a double front flip over the bars when my front wheel snagged a root coming down to the final jumps.
Oh no! Did you walk away from it okay?
@@gmbntech I landed on my feet mostly and went "taaadaaaa"
I love it when you talk to racers! More of this please!
A roadie here, or actually an all-roadie, and ski bindings is the answer and Look pedals were first popularized by the French La Vie Claire pro road dream team with Bernard Hinault, Greg LeMond, Andy Hampsten, and many more stars. And there was a bit of irony there in that Greg was a skier before he became a superstar cyclist.
Tracy Moseley is 5'4" and has been comfy on a 29”er from the start!
Many thanks for the Tracy interview!
Loved the Tracy Moseley retrorides. Just made my first bike purchase in nearly 30 years, going from a fully-rigid 1995 Fat Chance Yo Eddy to a custom-build Salsa Blackthorn. Will use the uploader... Oh, and Skiing / Ski Bindings for the Look quiz question.
I love the fact Tracy mentioned she loves a double chain ring because she loves to keep on pedalling!
Old school is still cool 🚴♂️
I believe Ski bindings were the predecessor of clipless pedals. Great show as always. Cheers - M
Horse shoes, it was definitely horse shoes.
I made my bike a 1x9 nearly 20 years ago stripping my chainring down to a single and using BMX bash guards, Magura Gustavs with 210 discs, all on a clear coat 19" aluminium frame. Built my own wheels, fitted rock shox forks, even ran Halo twin rail tyres. Rode it to work every day with halogen kitchen bulb lights.
Bike was stolen just a few years ago, it was about an inch too big for me.
OMG!! I raced my first cross triathlon on a (ca 1997) Trek 950 in 2017!!! Great little bike!
Owen and those zingers…rock on buddy!
FLIGHT ATTENDANT!!!🎉
Clippless peddles came from snow skis. Love the show.
Would that be that Look shrunk their Ski Bindings, and stuck an axle through them to make a pedal 😉
Look started off making ski bindings in 1963(ish)... in 1983 they made the first clipless pedals
Would be great if the flight attendant also detects zero-gravity (a jump, or drop) and adjust the rebound to not bounce you off the bike due to too fast rebound.
LOOK came over from SKIING !
Yep, totally agree with the dropper post! I came up with the idea in 1988 thinking if my office seat can go up and down, why not the same on my bike. I stupidly didn't do anything about it at the time!!!
Did you have any ideas on the mechanism? Did it resemble the droppers you see today?
@@gmbntech I was a design student at ID/T in Coventry and went for a stupid arm mechanism thinking a straight forward gas strut was too simple, never got passed the concept for my degree! Aye, I realised the error of my way about 10 years later!!
Twins - glasses! Awesome!
Look’s clipless pedal design was derived from their step-in ski bindings
#quiztime Look derived their pedal from their downhill ski-binding technology, although it shall be noted that snowboarding is way more awesome.
Tracy, you won the Coors Elinater at the Malverns on a borrowed bike, think it was Helen's. Isn't that your first race?
Hibridizer presented their high pivot e-mtb last year
Look adapted the concept of their ski boot bindings that held ski boots to the skis, and made pedals without toe clips that would hold a cycling shoe to the pedal. Hence the term "clipless" even though we, um, clip in.
They tried high pivots back in the day. Just didn’t take off then. I liked them to be honest. I’m enjoying “mid pivot” most now though.
If Blake thinks he can flip any bike, I have a road tandem he can borrow.
For what it's worth, the captain (front) isn't his size but the stoker (back) should be.
#quiz Look was already making Ski Bindings, so used the knowledge there to make their pédales automatiques or as we know them Clipless pedals.
Look pedals derived from snow ski bindings
my 1998 GT LTS 2000 custom built for DH (yes i put 6inch triple clamp forks) was a 1x7 and in fact all my 3 by bikes had seized from gears cos i never used them hahaha
I agree 2x10 was the best setup I ever had. Twiddly gear for steep ups and still enough push to keep pedalling downhill in the big ring.
Plus when you're really tired after a day on the bike, you've still got a get out of jail gear to get you home.
Quiz answer: Skiing
#trivia - Look brought tech from their ski bindings to bicycle pedals
Norco started in California? Please tell me more.
Edit, Forbidden out of Washington, Please tell me more.
#Quiz Look pedals was inspired by Ski Bindings
please, tell me when exactly is a bike "high-pivoted" ? where exactly has the pivot to be? thanks for helping me out! (i have to buy a beer if i loose my bet here...^^) greetings from bavaria!
Above the bottom bracket? 🤔
@@Happy_Biker “A high pivot bike is a bike where the main pivot is located above the chainring”, explains Vogelmann. So far, so normal. By placing the main pivot above the chainring, the rear axle is able to move backwards as the suspension goes through its travel. So we can say a 2021Specialized Stumpjumper is a HP-Bike? i didnt know that....thx
The next big thing in geometry will be higher stack height.
Look Ski bindings
#techquiz Look clipless pedal technology derived from their ski binding tech.
#askgmbn i think it is derived from skiing ? Like oldschool ski bindings
Ski bindings
i thought the dropper post was silly till i hired a bike with one and its ruined me, i love dropper posts now
Skiing
#techquiz look did ski bindings.
Hi Owen! I'm doing just fine😁
I'm still trying to see if there's a video of Blake backflipping my bike.
What bike have you got? 👀
#askgmbntech can you please do a video explaining coil suspension forks 🙏🏼 or point me in the right direction to find the one you have probably already done 🙏🏼😂
Look used tech from ski bindings

😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
These two mo fo's have to be drinking before the show and that's the way I like it. Did they say they were both shorter than Blake. No FWay!
No drink, just full of cold! 🤧 😂 There's not much in it but Blake is taller 🤷♂️
#techquiz the answered this week is Look ski bindings, the first bindings with a rotative backplate where the mechanic of the back binder was put un a bottle type piece.
Ti is not a sustainable material, what a joke.
No thanks, I wouldn’t invest in a failing company.
What company?
@@LaurentiusTriarius What do you mean?
@@Canyon_Shawn I didn't make the link with deviate cycles, you're right I wouldn't invest either 😂
