- Spider-Man Homecoming and the Incredible Hulk are very similar movies. They're both soft reboots of failed franchises, meant to incorporate the character into the MCU. But Homecoming established a new franchise that will soon spin off into a new self contained universe for its studio, while the Incredible Hulk is an also rain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But believe it or not, these movies have very similar stories. And there's one scene that shows why one was a massive success, and the other is barely considered part of the MCU.

The car scene was so perfect, every second you can just feel the terror and gravity of the position Peter is in.
even though Peter may have looked like he was afarid and uncomfortable, he had enough presence of mind to leave a tracker in the car

Glad to see I'm not the only one who loves Homecoming. Every scene of it since the major plot twist was pure gold
Homecoming was pretty much crap in my opinion. I had no issue with it being a coming of age story of sorts, but the movie felt like it was directed by a hipster. I had no issue would it being a story about Spider-Man in high school (considering the first avengers took place in New York), but what I do have an issue with is that they turned every student in his school into crap. Flash for instance is a very well-known character from the Spider-Man universe for the last 50 years or so, but in this movie they changed them from a high school jock that got all the girls, to whatever the hell this kid was supposed to be in this movie. As someone who grew up in NYC, this didn't feel like any high School I ever heard of.

Yes. In the Homecoming car scene you can actually feel the fear that Peter's feeling, the tension is built up very well because now's the moment he realizes he's been acting like a kid all this time and now his life's in REAL danger (if he does the right thing). That's why it works, because you experience what the movie is showing you.
I loved Homecoming. One day Holland will sync up with the right part and win an Oscar. He's a brilliant actor.

Everybody Don't Panic! He must have a really good reason for re-uploading this video. Maybe some scene was a bit longer for CZcams and they might have put the video down so he has to remove/edit those scene to make it work. For me, Universal is highly sus that they may have created the issue of some Hulk movei scene.

It’s simple, one was very excited to become Spider-Man and had fan support. The other used his title of hulk to be paid more and was denied, also had fan support at the time but ruffalo is a great hulk.
Disagree. Why do you think people go back and watch the Incredible Hulk? Because we know the treatment of the hulk in the MCU is a joke and wishes that Incredible Hulk was in IW or endgame.
To be fair, I don't think that Betty being the general's daughter was meant as a twist. Anyone who knows anything hulk knows that connection.

I remember the original TV series. I didn't watch a lot of TV back in the day, I preferred books, but I did watch that one. I liked it. I thought Bill Bixby did a good job portraying Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the green monster was impressive at the time. This was the late seventies so CGI wasn't a thing yet. The Hulk has always been a favorite character of mine and I would love to see a good movie with the character but it won't happen anytime soon with Universal holding the distribution rights. Planet Hulk is my favorite Hulk movie and I think it captures the real Hulk perfectly.
I definitely agree with your analysis between the two movies. Holland has done a great job as Spiderman although I am still partial to Tobey. Not sure I buy Holland as Nathan Drake but that is a discussion for another day. Haha.
During your discription of homecoming (1st comparison), I forgot that you were comparing it to the incredible Hulk.

Spot On, Ryan! I'm a Major Hulk fan!! And you're breakdown of why I haven't even watched the movie again Since 2009, is a Perfect explanation of why the Hulk movie doesn't work! That' and the fact they were Against letting Hulk "TALK!!" despite that in Hulk's very first comic book, he talks from cover to cover! So, why not in the Incredible Hulk movie!? I think what hurt the hulk movie the most is that they never built up to the gamma ray incident, they could of opened with a build up of that and a Bruce banner that had anger issues before the hulk.

The animated films are great especially this one but once we start including them in these types of comparisons they’ll all end up near the top(there’s quite a bit of safety in animation over live action)

My only real complaint is that you are comparing an almost "pre" phase 1 movie to a post avengers movie. Compare hulk to ironman, sam rami spiderman, or the xmen trilogy.
I remember watching this movie when I was young and we didn’t have cable so that was the only movie that we could watch I remember being scared and bored of it 😭😭

I, actually, don't think the "reveal" of Betty being General Ross' daughter was supposed to be a twist. It was just awkward storytelling. 😆Just like the Hulk's origin story, Betty Ross being the daughter of General Ross is pretty basic information for a comic book fan. Plus, she and her father had already been major characters in Ang Lee's "The Hulk". I really think they just took for granted that "oh, yeah, you guys already know that's her father, right? I guess we should remind you".

This whole movie wasn’t that bad. I still watch it from time to time.
Again, Bruce did had a choice.
He was risking killing himself to cleans Ross mess.
The logical position would have been Him telling Ross that before he could have stopped Blonski, but now he couldn't.
In the Ultimates the scene is like that. Bruce's tells the soldiers on Fury's orders that he's so dopped he can't transform and will die for they to respond that they're willing to take that risk.
The change was exactly done to show that Bruce is a hero.

you are right. At first, i really didn't understand anything in incredible hulk. The movie should had the character ark of hulk before getting into the story. And it is too much exposition, at first. And I think these are all the reasons for the incredible hulk's failure

I for one disagree although It's true homecoming played it well I suppose I partially disagree with your hulk portion yes the movie was quite dull for its own rights however remember throughout the film banner had been fighting the transformation so much so that he attempted suicide and so just when he thought he got rid of it jumping would mean having to become hulk again or worse it'd be possible he'd die just when he got it all fixed up hence having to embrace the thing he has been fighting throughout the whole film making it perfect

red hulk in movie not possible because script was written before 2008 and red hulk debut in comic was in 2008. basically, red hulk never existed when this movie was made.

I know most people disagree with me, but I loved The Incredible Hulk. I think it's a fantastic film. I liked Norton's Banner better. I liked this version of Hulk better. Mark's Hulk just looks goofy. This Hulk was ferocious and tormented.

This has made me even more disappointed in SheHulk. If Blonsky was such a terrible (as in low quality) villain why did they bring him back in that series? It makes it seem like they decided Norton was the Hulk movie's downfall. General Ross is still included and now Abomination is back, both portrayed by the same actor. The only differing variable is Ruffalo being Hulk instead of Norton.
