Both movies feature a family--of sorts--of superheroes, one with super-strength, one with super stretchiness, another with the ability to turn invisible and create force fields, and one that’s super hot-headed.
These families butt heads a lot of the time as families often do [clip of Bob and Helen fighting].
One of the main characters gets jealous when another person starts flirting with their love interest
And of course, the teams have to put aside their differences and come together at the end to take down the big bad.
It’s not surprising that these franchises are so similar, because The Incredibles was partly based on the Fantastic Four. But then why did it take a Pixar movie to get the Fantastic Four right? Where did the Incredibles succeed that Fant 4 Stic gets so wrong?
Let’s look at two scenes, that are similar we can use them as a point of comparison: the final battles.
The Incredibles is a breathtaking action scene, the culmination of the family drama we’ve seen throughout the film.
Just to recap, the Parr family journeys to a remote Island to save Bob from the clutches of Syndrome. Syndrome plans to spread his technology worldwide so that everyone is special and no one feels left out like he once did as a kid.We argued the merits of his exceptionalism vs collectivism in another video [thumbnail of syndrome was right]
His plan to introduce the world to this technology is by unleashing a robot that he created and defeating it, saving the city and becoming a hero. Unfortunately, the technology malfunctions and he gets knocked out.
The robot runs rampant and the Parr family has to stop it. The stakes are clear. The robot is threatening the city, but most importantly the family we’ve come to love. [b roll kids under attack] The danger is underscored by Bob’s speech at the start of the battle [I’m not strong enough to lose you]
The movie establishes the Parrs as a relatable family. The kids bicker, [clip] and the parents the dad works a dead end job and sneaks off to talk about the good old days. In the scenes leading up to the fight, the normal family dynamic is reinforced when Bob and Helen fight about how to get to the fight. [highway exit ramp fight]
All of this makes them more relatable to the audience. But also this makes the final battle even more rewarding when they’re finally able to work together and direct their hostility where it belongs: against an evil city destroying robot.
The kids are initially tucked away, but after the winnebago is destroyed, they have no place to hide. Everyone is in this together.
This scene symbolizes family and togetherness and is the culmination of all of the family drama we’ve seen thus far.
Each member has a conventional role in the family: the dad is the rock of the family and is strong, the mom is flexible and does many things at once, the teenage girl feels invisible, and the young boys are bursting with energy.
Dash and violet fight all the time but one of the first scenes we see in the final battle is Violet saving Dash and her brother’s concern for her
Mrs. Incredible saves her kids and she tells them [“stay here okay?”]. This aligns with what we saw from her character the rest of the movie where she always prioritizes protecting her kids [clip of them falling out of the plane]
You see the father and son playing catch in this scene [clip where Mr. Incredible throws the remote to Dash] This is a great payoff for the audience because we see Bob supporting Dash using his powers earlier in the movie and it's a great representation of how the father and son duo bond over these superpowers.
There’s even a shot of the family fighting over a remote [clip] which is a classic trope [remote clip from amazing world of gumball]
The Incredibles uses superpowers as a vessel to tell a story about a family. It’s much more focused on the Family Drama aspect than the superhero aspect.
As you can see, it also builds really well off of what we’ve been shown up until this point. It feels satisfying as a conclusion because of this. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

Incredibly small nitpick (pun intended). In the Incredibles, the robot didn't malfunction. It did exactly what it was programmed to do, in that it was to win in a fight against anything and learn how to defeat any adversary. Syndrome's pursuit to make the robot even more powerful than Mr. Incredible made the robot smart enough to see Syndrome's remote as its own weakness in its fight against Syndrome.

I don't think the technology "malfunctions," he just made it too smart for him. It learned its biggest threat was syndrome so it attacks its master.

I thought they made "Fant4stic Four" just because they had a stipulation in their contract saying that if they didn't do anything with their license for 10 years the rights to the Fantastic 4 would return to Marvel?

@@theevilteacher What I read/heard says that they were like, "Oh crap, our ten-year contract is almost up, quick we gotta bang out a script--ANY script--as quickly as possible or we'll lose it," and what we got was a rushed mess.
I remember the reason that Sony Pivoted from Maguire to Garfield on the time table that they did was that Spidey had a similar cause...
and I know that there is an 'ashcan' Fantastic 4 from the 94 made expressly because they needed to have Production in progress by a given date (and it was never intended to see the light of day) so I would not be shocked if a similar clause was in place

I've told everyone that I could for years that The Incredibles is one of the best superhero movies ever. The storytelling is so good, the plot and pacing are concise, and it being an animated movie makes it easier to get out of our own heads to suspend disbelief
The Incredibles is as close as PERFECT as it can get.

The Incredibles is, well... incredible, and Brad Bird deserves more credit for it.
Also, Jon Watts backed out of the MCU FF movies months ago. Can't help but wonder if expectations have been set waaaay too high for this film.
He said that he needed a break from the comic book movie genre, and given how insane the making of NWH must have been, I don’t blame him.

With Watts out, it would seem like Brad Bird would be a natural fit to direct the MCU installment. I know he's mostly an animation guy, but he did a great job on Ghost Protocol

Until the Avengers came out I considered The Incredibles the best superhero movie ever. After all that's happened since, it's still in my top 5.

I highly recommend you listen to the po0dcast "What Went Wrong" and the episode of the FF where they basically explain the studio killed this movie and the director never had a chance to do his thing. Regards from Mexico.

i died when i heard "go go power rangers" you can feel the dissapointment that SC is experiencing
i liked doom pre-transformation, they should have left him for the sequel, and have normal danger for the fantastic 4 to fix, like a meteor or saving a city from a volcano, to make them closer before they have to face him
As a Power Rangers fan, I was a bit insulted using it as a reference to Dr. Doom in this movie, but I also understand. Lol. I would love to see you do a video that helps correct the errors of fan4stic. Great video and great work

It's honestly pretty sad and mind-boggling that as of now the best Fantastic Four film is The Incredibles. So far all of the Fantastic Four films are bad with Rise of the Silver Surfer being the best out of Fantastic Four (2005) Rise of the Silver Surfer and Fan4stic

Idk if anybody has ever realized this when it comes to action and superhero genres: Animation and Cartoons always seem to get it right better than Real life action versions do 💯 of the time and this is why i prefer the cartoons and animation cuz the real live versions keep sucking and we never ask ourselves why

Two things 1) they need to give Doom an origin movie. The story of the ethnic cleansing of his people and then him finding out he is actually the heir to the throne. You can even make it parallel the first ironman movie in the theme. Leave room for his mother and Mephisto ( and maybe he seeks out the Ancient One), but dont go into it right away.
2) fant4stic. Without changing the entire movie, I would have used a similar plot for the movie, but I would have changed the first villain they face to The red Ghost and his super apes. The Russian go to that place first. Ivan sends his apes, they get stranded, he goes to retrieve them and them they all get trapped there. The americans are building their portal from plans stolen from the Russians. the Russians jump the team and escape to America and tear stuff up while being on the run. The government is less antagonistic toward the team because there is a common threat to face on EARTH, before they can use them as weapons or anything else.

I still have the theory 20th Century Fox sobataged this movie in order to keep the rights and Marvel Studios would be able to use the characters.
That is interesting to think about
20th Century Fox had to make a move so it could keep its rights to the Fantastic Four and affiliated captures otherwise it would have great back to Marvel. So they though together a script and a cast on a low budget. Rushed it before the deadline to keep the rights.
they could have made a Good movie, secured the rights and had a property worth making a sequel to to further extend those rights as needed... to do "this" on Purpose would be the definition of 'cut off your nose to spite your face'
The previous F4 film was good. The failed attempt to "update" them was I'll advised.

The Incredibles(2004) is one of the best Pixar films ever made.
Fant4stic is a disaster and one of the worst films of 2015.
I'd go as far as to say The incredibles is one of the best superhero movies of all time. Disney should get Brad Bird to direct the new Fantastic 4 movie.

Awesome video!!! Also I got a list of the top 10 worst Disney Charictors in my opinion in a list and the reasons, and this is my Opinion :) from 10 being the least worse to 1 being the worst, AKA these are Disney Charictors in my opinion that are Worse than Chicken Little's Dad
10. Chicken Little's Dad: he may act horrible in the movie, but to be fair he did lose his wife, and the Turkey Mayer constantly crabs at him, which could lead him to a bad mood, but when Chicken Little corrects him on this, he even said that he was sorry, which in my Opinion is a large redemption for him :)
9. The Turkey Mayer from Chicken Little: He constantly crabs at Chicken Littles Dad for no other reason than his son, which could be why he acts horrible in the first place
8. The Penguins from the Wild: I love the 2006 movie the Wild, but the Penguins from that movie are some of the only bad charictors from that movie, as they are mean and very competitive
7. The Monkeys from Horton Hears a Who 2008: Horton Hears a Who 2008 is a great movie overall, but the Monkeys are territorial, hot-headed, and very mean as well, as they attacked Horton when running into them even tho it was an accident
6. Crash and Eddie from Ice Age 2-6: they may be funny and caring, but they can get a little annoying at times
5. The Hyrax from the Wild: When we met him in the movie, he was extrodenarly carnky, annoying, and rude
4. The Mother Kangaroo from Horton Hears a Who 2008: She is prittymuch the meanest charictor of that particular movie, to the point to were she doesent even let her son do what he wants at all...
3. The Llama from Ice Age 5: Crash and Eddie may be a little annoying, but at least those two care about the main charictors, but the Llama however is not only annoying, but also Hot-headed and Selfish!
2. Mr and Mrs Incredible: these two treat Dash and Violet horribly, there are good things about them, but how that treat Dash and Violet really drops them down this low, and Mrs Incredible even threatened to ground them for an entire month if they didn't stop fighting like how normal siblings do!
1. Mufasa: there are several reasons why I say Mufasa is the Worst, 1 after he saves Simba and Nala from the Hyenas, he didn't even ask Simba why he went, he just straight up assumes Simba just disobeyed him on purpose even tho Scar tricked Simba into going to the Elephant Graveyard, 2 he yells at Scar for not going to the Ceramony even tho Scar was Miserable (yet again that didn't justify Scar Killing Mufasa), 3 he uses Zazu as a target for Simba's pouncing lesson, and 4 he doesent let the Hyenas in the Pridelands at all to eat or drink and the Hyenas will defenently die because of that action alone, and that's why I think Mufasa is the Worst Disney Charictor, and I hate Mufasa!

Incredibles is essentially a family friendly retelling of the Watchmen comics. But it is still incredibly enjoyable.

The incredibles is basically the fantastic four with just a few diffrances and it's why people really wanted Brad Bird to actually do a live action movie. The difference between this and fan4stic is night and day, one embraces all aspects of itself and isn't afraid to have fun with the wacky premise while the other tries way too hard to be dark and serious. To the point of refusing to even call themselves by the comic hero name their based on. When people say Incredibles is the fantastic four done right their absolutely right on the mark.
I hope marvel bring fantastic 4 as a family adventure movie, because it's the core of the story, it always is, from the the original fantastic 4 to the future foundation, every good fantastic 4 movie always the one that about their adventure, even that one-time that they meet jack kirby, and I hope they are the center of the next mcu, it's fitting the secret wars as the final of the current saga

when it was originally announced that they had Teller, Mara, Bell and Jordan as the Titular Quartet I was so Pumped... and then something came up opening weekend so I missed the first night, and I started seeing the reviews... so i waved off... every so often start to think 'it can't be 'that' bad... and the universe puts a video like this out for me to find, and I think "Bullet dodged"

You know to be honest I was more of a Disney, Pixar Dreamwork’s, Nickelodeon, Star Wars, Star Trek and a Spider-Man X-Men and DC and MCU fan because I grew up watching Toy story, Finding Nemo, Mickey Mouse, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Incredibles, Dumbo and Lion King, Tarzan and Jungle book and even The Dark Knight trilogy, Spider-Man trilogy to Tom Holland Spider-Man, Indiana Jones and Star Wars episode 4 5 and 6 and the Prequels and Iron Man and Captain America and Thor and Guardians of the galaxy and lots of other movies and tv shows. The Fantastic Four movies were lame and dumb. But when I saw Emily Blunt husband as Mr. Fantastic in Multiverse of Madness and became awesome and time for a reboot of the fantastic four movie in the MCU
Doom in Fant4stic has the exact same motivation as Vecna in ST4, but Vecna has an actual reason to want revenge lol
And the show is very well written and actually shows the motivation

Do we really need an FF origin movie? We should find them in the multiverse, already a cohesive unit. Show their origin in a few hours on Disney+. Let Doom show up at the UN like T’Chaka did and tell the world that if they mess with Latveria the way they did with Sokovia, he will make sure the rest of the world is Doomed.
Feige already said the Marvel F4 movie was NOT going to be an origin story. I'm wondering if they'll slip the origin in one of the upcoming projects, negating an entire movie devoted to origin.
