Nico Cartosio tells us about Angelina
Angelina could sing the phone book and it would be a masterpiece. “Song For A” was composed for Angelina Jordan, and her alone. The original lyrics came from a poem by Robert Burns written in the 1700’s and was put to music by Nico Cartosio on his album “Melting”. “Song For A” is the only vocal on the album all other pieces are instrumentals, and they are beautiful. The song was recorded after AJ’s family moved to LA so she would have been 13 at the time. The sounds of her voice on this recording will take you places you have never been before.
This is a marvelous recording. To explain it I will use the composer's description: "Song For A" from Nico Cartosio's album "Melting". "Song for A is the only song on the album. It is performed by Angelina Jordan, a very young and very talented singer. I needed a bright final for my instrumental album. After the series of cold hells and Melting itself I longed for a song of a liberated soul, a soul that was set free from suffering. So, I remembered a beautiful poem by Robert Burns and wrote this song especially for Angelina. And she gave a sensual performance." Angelina Jordan Astar is my favorite living singer, and this song is perfect for her unique voice. She is a remarkable young lady, brilliant, altruistic, and totally admirable. To paraphrase what Angelina Jordan had told us about doing a cover, she said that doing a cover is much harder than doing an original as you have to do all the research, plus you have to work out all the chords, and she said a bunch more that I don't remember. Take into consideration that mimicry might have been where she began when she was younger than 7, and as Oscar Wilde once said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," but by 8-9 and onto 10, she completely changed that around by adding "Angelism's" to most songs she sang for performances. Sometimes, it makes sense to listen to a cover by Angelina Jordan, as it’s sometimes better than the original. ❤

@@most2dot0 Haven't really got in deep. I believed what Ashlena said from the recommendation she received, that said 10 years old. Even at 20 it's an amazing performance.

Remember every time we say goodbye... they had been going back and forth since she was a baby, video of her and Sara talking to a clerk right after visiting Disneyland. The family has extensive connections in California. Also the beginning of this video is her pictured, clearly as a ten year old.
@@MICHAELASHER. Well, it is in theory possible, though unlikely, that she recorded that in LA while being on a visit. However, that an old picture was choosen for that fan made video is no indication. And I now searched for an interview of Nico, and found one at 'theplayground', where he described that he was approached in spring 2018 to record an album. That album must have been Melting, as it's his debut album. He also mentions some names that were involved in Melting, and Abbey Road Studio. So he recorded that after spring 2018, and stated that Angelina recorded her singing later. So that makes it not only likely, but definite, that she did it at either 12 or 13 years old.

It is always worth seeing Angelina's performance again regardless, of this masterpiece I can only remember that one of the most important Russian classical composers wanted Angelina's voice, dedicating to her the only sung piece of an album that reached 18th place in the world rankings. The song which you referred to, is "I'm Still Holding Out for You". Angelina was the first to record it. Written by Brandon Lowry, aka Baby Fuzz. The video says "Leaked" at the start but all parties involved are ok with it being on CZcams. I, along with many angels, think it's among her best vocals. She recorded it one week before her 11th birthday.

The vocal inflections that she was adding beyond what would have been needed turned me off to this song but I know she was young.
Although she sang it beautifully, it's a strange choice to have her sing the male part of a song about seducing a young girl. And the lyrics are correct; although the barley fields are ridged, or at least were back then, the correct vernacular, used by Burns, is rigs.
