- The priests run a raffle to raise money for their leaky roof; Father Ted wrecks the car, which was supposed to be first prize.
Beloved sitcom focused on three priests living on Craggy Island, a remote island off the west coast of Ireland. Father Ted Crilly is sent to the island as punishment for using charitable funds for a holiday in Las Vegas, but his true punishment comes in the form of Father Dougal Maguire and Jack Hackett, one a fresh-faced naive young priest, and the other a foul-mouthed, rage-filled alcoholic. Mrs Doyle is their nosy housekeeper, who makes plentiful pots of tea and never takes `no' for an answer. Despite their isolation, the priests get into their fair share of mildly sinful, entirely madcap adventures.

I used to DJ weddings in Ireland and, every once in a while, someone would ask me to ask everybody to stand for the national anthem and then play Ghost Town, which always got a good laugh.
My favorite thing about Ted is that he just takes everything in his stride.

Just think of the people who spend years, sometimes decades in isolation due to physical or mental conditions. I feel some sympathy for the people who were somewhat depressed in lockdown, but it's a single year of your life with reduced socialization, in the grand scheme of things it's not going to kill you and there are people in your community who have had it much worse for far longer.

He reminds me of Frank Burns on MASH. Hilarious but also highly annoying.
I love the fact that Jack, who would normally punch his way out of any situation, is completely powerless in the face of the boring priest.

The scene of the Dancing Priest dying of a heart attack is a sad reminder of Dermot Morgan's death nearly two years later. Followed by Frank Kelly's death 18 years after that. May the rest in peace.

I only just very recently stumbled upon this gem of a show and just watched the episodes paying no attention to the actors' names. So when I saw this comment I innocently googled 'Dermot Morgan'...

Father Ted, just is so on the ball. All my memories of growing up a RC. Even had Priests and Nuns as Great Uncles and Aunts. What a hoot. This show is pure genius. 🙏🇦🇺👏👏👏
