      Got an Asrock Challenger RX 7600 for $255 and got the free game so pretty darn good deal.
      With not too much tweaking I got FireStrike up to "Legendary" and TimeSpy was right next to the high score and I didn't have to tweak it for very long to get it to that point.
      I haven't watched the video yet but I've watched a couple others. Two things I noticed are different. With RDNA 2 I can usually add about 10 - 15MHz to the memory clock and it makes a difference (ACTUAL clock rate, not what I set it for). I could only tweak the memory clock a little with the 7600. With RDNA 2 if I clock to something like 2024, the actual clock will be maybe 2010. Don't know why that as, but I notice it's the same with the 7600. along with EVERY RDNA 2 GPU I've tested.
      I don't know yet how you deal with MIN. GPU clock speed in this video, in the past you would set it pretty close to MAX. I get more crashes doing that. I scored that legendary without adjusting the MIN. GPU clock. There are times that clock needs to slow down like if you're at a spot where the GPU isn't being pushed and the work is more on the CPU. Allowing the clock speed to drop lets it cool off a little. I score "Great" and "Excellent" in testing different RDNA 2 GPUs and don't adjust the MIN.
      I think that's the only thing I do different.
      Doing builds with the Ryzen 5600, I can also use Adrenaline to boost it a couple hundred MHz and that also helps. I guess that's a default boost for it and it works well. The cores still ramp up and down and in testing all-core I actually get MORE CONSISTENT clock speeds across the cores. The 5600 also didn't get above mid 70C for any sensor (HWMonitor) using that 200MHz boost. It makes it run about like a stock 5600X so not bad.
      Peace dude.

      Hi Fabio, great video as always! Just have a few question in mind, i come across the website and video the other day that recommend AMD Gpu user to disable amd link and crash defender in device manager and some registry tweak like disable ULPS. Not sure if u think this kinda tweak will make the gpu stable or u can tell me more if u have other tweak that can be done for us. Thank you in advanced :)

    • @johndoh5182
      @johndoh5182 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@piersbrown3308 I can OC a 7600 using Adrenaline to run better than a 6700 and it starts to approach a 6700 XT, STOCK. Comparing an OC 7600 to an OC 6700 wasn't something I did. I just like the fact that you can get THAT MUCH performance out of an x600 GPU to where it's approaching good game play at 2K. It's certainly an excellent 1080p GPU and that's what I'd use it for since it is after all closer to the bottom of the product stack, if not THE bottom since we don't know if AMD will make a x5xx GPU again. The other thing is bottom line. A 6700 probably won't sell under $300, but a 7600 will go on sales between $230 - $250, they have better encoders and better RT performance. At this point I don't know why anyone would even consider a 6700.
      AMD sells Zen 3 APUs like crazy and when they produce Zen 4 APUs I would imagine the same thing will happen. If Zen 4 APUs get close to 6500 XT performance, then AMD and Nvidia both are going to kill off bottom of the stack products, and Nvidia even said as much. They said there's no reason to make something like a 4050 when APUs are getting better. Intel will eventually put out a high quality APU for desktop, or I should say they NEED to put one out or they'll lose too much sales.

      Any game crashes for u? What temps and voltage do u have in general with the uv?

  • @Bsc8
    @Bsc8 Před 11 měsíci +5

    Hi Fabio 😊 few months ago i asked you about my high delta between hotspot and GPU temps on my card, XFX Merc Black rx6750xt. It was at 33°C difference you suggested me to repaste the card and i carefully did that last sunday!
    I've found the stock paste dried out not covering the whole chip, plus there was an uneven mounting pressure between heasink and die. So i voided my warranty (brand new GPU 1 year of lifespan), but at least now it's properly assembled, cleaned and repasted with noctua NT-H2: *all the issues are gone!!*
    Now i can overclock the card a bit more (before 2787MHz was the limit now basically 2900 😂), i'm running the same undervolt (1169mV) and the hotspot never goes over 87°C while the GPU stays under 65°C. I can now max out the power limit at 265w without worries (with undervolt i never exceed 247w anyways). With a 30°C ambient temp and fans speed never over 48% i'm super happy of the results. The card was fine before but 102°C hotspot and 59°C on GPU temp was too much sus for a beasty xfx Ghost cooler.
    Thank you so much for that advice, much love from Italy 🇮🇹
    P.S. before the repaste i was beating the 3070ti by 4-5% with a lot of heat i can now use that UV+OC profile with a lot less heat (80°C max on hotspot) or i can max out everything and add another 1-2% AVG! I already had a golden sample but now it's so much better... Can't wait to make an extreme profile with 19°C room temp this winter 🎉

They only cheap out on the thermal paste but it's not a card i will avoid, the rx6000 XFX Merc Black cards are made really well i've only see sapphire nitro+ cards on the same level of cooling.
      Zotac, msi mech or ventus, pny on the other hand cheap out on everything and a lot of those cards not having a good thermal solution: fake copper on the heatisink, the cooler part that contacts the die not perfectly flat, lots of coil whine and fans howling or humming on certain rpms.
      _Edit: along with too much plastic everywhere and not enough thermal pads or not as good as XFX pads (mine are very similar to _*_gelid solutions_*_ pads)._

    When I undervolted 6700 XT, I tried it on CP77, RDR2, some other games, but only DOOM Eternal showed that the voltage was too low, which was the only one that caused consumption up to 167W (all other games ~135-150W). On ultra + RT the game froze at 1100mV, and runs steadily at 1110mV with a peak draw of 160 watts.
    Furmark 1280x with x8 anti-aliasing, although it gives the same GPU frequencies and reaches a consumption limit of up to 190+ watts, but is not indicative.

    Interesting. I bought my Powercolor RX 7600 Hellhound summer 2023 and at first I thought I had received a rather bad copy because it is practically impossible to reduce the voltage. The games often don't even crash at full, but rather at partial load. My card runs stable at 2900 MHz and 1,185 mV +12% power limit, so not worth mentioning. It's really a shame that there aren't several voltage points that you can adjust like with the GTX 1070 or 5700 XT I had. Memory (Hynix) goes up to 2380 MHz at normal timings, fast causes crashes. That "Zero Fan" feature doesn't really make sense, fans are beginning to spin at 1200 rpm and I can clearly hear them. Overall it's still a pretty good card, especially considering the price of 219€ I paid back then, shipping and a copy of Starfield included. =)

    Thank you for helping us better understand the 7600! I really enjoyed this video. I have a problem with my card.
    My little brother is having crashing issues under what should be a light load for the 7600 in ranked Fortnite battle royal (competitive in game graphic settings).
    He wouldn’t be able to play a whole round without crashing. When he’d crash, his gpu clock speed would spike up around 2800mhz, while the voltage, wattage, and temperature remaining very stable. After the crash we would get a AMD and Unreal engine crash report.
    I’ve been able to narrow it down to the “default” tuning preset in the AMD adrenaline software. I think Software was making the card work way too hard, so a lot of other people with this same issue had to underclock/undervolt their GPU in order to stop in game crashes. So I brought the MHZ down to 2100, and he was able to play a whole match of ranked Fortnite without crashing. After we finish playing, he left the match to play another, and the game proceeded to crash. But this time we were only given and Unreal engine crash report.
    I did some more reading in the internet, and one person had to lower their clock speeds down to 1720mhz in order to play with no issues. I proceeded, and we were left with the same outcome. So I began bumping it up again in intervals of 50. We made it to about 1850mhz last night. One thing we tried was playing with 1850mhz, 1170mV, widows full screen, and a normal cam battle royal. • @AncientGameplays

      The thing is, even those benchmarks, sometimes, aren't enough as they tend to stress the GPU core much more, and then VRAM sensitive games may crash. Also, as I explained, it works differently due to the boost and power steps

      You know that you can set different tunings for different games, right? Why run at higher voltages all the time when 99% of the time it is stable at a lower voltage? Just set the tuning for those trouble games in the games tab and the software will automatically use those settings when the game is launched.

    For some reason whenever I do any kind of changes in the drivers (even changing a fan settings), after some time (like a day or few dozens of hours) a failure occurs and the whole thing resets back to the stock values. Not to mention that it sometimes crashes the whole application or restarts the PC entirely... or the failure occurs when I put my PC to sleep, effectively rendering the whole sleep a crashed loop that can be broken only by resetting the PC. @@AncientGameplays in some games it is, in some it isn't. I recon we're yet to see a proper direct comparison between the two to say for sure. Most of the games where 4060 TI's 128-bit bus was a limiting factor do see really great performance boost when OC'ing (especially the mem clocks). In addition to that, 4060 TI OC pulls 150-160W max, 3070 can easily go up to 250W, which surely will require more powerful PSU. I'm not saying 4060 TI becomes great value once you OC it, I'm just saying it isn't as obvious of a comparison as it might look.

    I had this issue with my RX 7600 crashing in WoW of all games (i've set th GPU core clock with min 255 MHz and max 2754MHz as was the stock, +12% power limit, didn't touche the memory frequency just picked the fast timing option and leave like that)...in the least graphically demanding places and i have noticed this weird RDNA 3 behavior with x amount of voltage not being ok with some games and being ok with others i just didn't know why but now i do.
    Weirdest part is that the GPU driver was crashing in this game with any kind of power saving from the windows power plan disabled (unlocked all hidden settings) and GPU Vcore voltage set at 1175mv, same as recommended by the undervolt from Radeon Software test, so it's i guess it's some transition it does somewhere around the vf curve which doesn't play nice with this setting so it seems more like a bug there rather than the voltage offset not being enough because if you think about it how aren't 1175mv to keep WoW locked at 120FPS at 1080p maxed out AND almost always the crashes happen in M+ when the GPU load is like 60% on average, clearly a powering down issue from the driver.
    Messing with the min clock at a higher than 255MHz may do the trick i suppose (despite the card ignoring that setting anyway, seemingly at least) but it happens so infrequently and unexpectedly you can't just reproduce it on demand in order to be sure what exactly causes it, either way it's not just annoying when it happens, but breaking the game for 4 other players and wasting 5 one's time (or more depending if you are in a raid) isn't a nice experience.
    Edit: Mind you this is on a not even close to maxing out the titanium 650 Watt PSU so this one is extremely unlikely to be the issue + this was never an issue when i had my Vega 64 which draws mower power to begin with even when undervolted.

    i'm undervolting and underclocking the hell out of my 6900xt because of coil whine. i don't really feel a performance difference in pratice (it's technically idk, 15% slower than stock, but it still hits all my performance targets), but the noise is gone and the gpu peaks at 160w now. i'm absolutely floored on how annoyed i was by that whine. it was way more than i thought i was. i completely lost my VERY STRONG will to upgrade from this card after settling with this underclock. should just have done this sooner instead of insisting on not losing performance when undervolting/underclocking. it lowered the noise, but it was still there. as long as i can hear it, it'll be on my mind and make me want to change the annoying part. almost spent R$ 10k on a card i didn't even really want (4090). thankfully, desperation settled in and i just set it as low as it needed to be to completely make the noise go away. turns out it's still enough performance for me.
    I'm also amazed at how stressed theses gpus come from factory nowadays. loosen them up and they become so much more efficient... we could still have 80% of the performance we have today with a cap of 200w on all cards

    Can we ask for "How to OVERCLOCK & UNDERVOLT RX 7600 | ADRENALIN 2023 Advanced Tutorial"? I'm trying so hard not to build an Nvidia/Intel next time... Thank you very much for your work.
    Jokes apart... 20:39 as you mention in the video there is little room to move around stock voltage/curve (this is not a bad thing if they don't get a lot of margin to improve and are precisely tuned by AMD is much rather a very nice thing not to worry about), But limiting the maximum clock you seem to have achieved also much more control on maximum tdp (and energy efficiency, FPS/W=F/J). The 2000 to 2100 MHz range of clocks is where the maximum efficiency jump between RDNA3 and RDNA2 is to be found... Can you test the 7600 at those levels? IN theory TDP should go down to 45W-62W and perfromance in FPS a maximum of -30%, very sure above 60-70 FPS. Testing for the 75W range would be nice also to see the results...
    Efficiency numbers according to 21:26:
    stock: 103FPS /181W = 0.57 F/J
    2600MHz-1170mv: 102FPS/134W = 0.76 F/J
    3000MHz-1170mv: 107FPS/202W = 0.53 F/J
    proposed test if possible to achieve: 1.6 to 1.16 F/J (more than double the frames per joule as stock, remembre the promise of +54% efficency?)

Then you have the 2600MHz max using the same 1170mv on the slider (that works as an offset), making the real voltage much lower. The VRAM OC mitigates the lower clocks in most cases and delivers the same performance at lower power draw and lower noise/temps

    I recently did a DDU because I wanted a lower temp. Sapphire nitro+ 7900xt. The DDU cleaned out everything. Installed latest AMD driver 23.7.2
    Now when I tried to save an OC profile it doesn't save. Before the DDU I could save hundreds. The path is:
    C:\users
    amehere\appdata\local\amd
    adeonsoftware
    Only folder I see is QtWebEngine, mine is not populate with folder like your.
    Any help from you or anyone would be greatly appreciated 👍

      if you use DDU with the clean everything option that will happen. Simply save your profiles on somewhere elase that isn't the appdata....otherwise things will get deleted

    Hey @AncientGameplays i have an interesting fact to discuss with you maybe we can get a solution or just explaining what is happening with amd "SAM". It happens in warzone, with SAM activated i get glitches, sttuters and 50% lower fps then having it dissabled. I find this interesting and maybe we can talk abot this to see what is acctually happening here. Let me know if you want to talk about this and i"ll give you my sistem specs soo we can see what is happening. Keep up the good work and i wish you nothing but the best.

    Question for every rx 7600 holder ....does the 2900 oc give a stable results or not ?

  • @erick1fpb
    @erick1fpb Před 11 měsíci +1

    I have a question problem with my RX7600 Saphire as you.
    - I get Drivers Timed out when using 100% of it.
    - I think its my PSU, im using a CV550W corsair, which is the lowest barely needed to run it (No overclocking)
    Do you guys think is that?
    (Already ordered a 750W gold)

      Possibly a psu issue yeah

      BTW All other components are checked and no there's no choke or bottleneck EXCEPT the PSU Also all basic/medium fix done (DDU cleaning and Bios etc all)

    Do you have a tutorial like this for the 7900 XT?

  • @spammus1
    @spammus1 Před 11 měsíci

    Does this also reduces temps and power draw? I just got a 7900xt and my main concerns are temperature (since my room is relatively small I don't really want the card to cook me) and actual power consumption since I run my pc for long times every day, and the less I hit my bills the better.

    • @AncientGameplays
      @AncientGameplays  Před 11 měsíci

      you didn't watch the video nor the final comparisons it seems. Try my 7900XTX video as it applies to the XT as well, use the power saving profile

    • @spammus1
      @spammus1 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@AncientGameplays No I simply thought it just impacted the voltage and not the actual power draw, I got it after I watched that segment again!

    • @AncientGameplays
      @AncientGameplays  Před 11 měsíci

      @@spammus1 if the voltage drops, the power consumption also drops, even if only by a little. Limiting the frequency is the most effective method as it puts everything down (voltage and power draw)
