      @@M1szS Wish it was atleast 12GB or even 10GB. But also we are talking about 250 dollar GPUs so I think 8GB is the most they will give us because first of all they are greedy but also they want to make back all the millions that went into designing those chips, producing and marketing them. Obviously they already subsidise the costs with higher end cards but they should do it harder but then other boardpartners(MSI, ASUS, ETC) need to also lower their prices but they already are not really profiting that much from their GPUs so they may not want to make those cards and then all the ''burden'' would be on Nvidia/AMD to make those Budget GPUs from which they are not profiting that much. Its like a double-edged sword.

      GTX1060 die size is 200mm2. 2060 end up having quite big die size for a few reasons. first 2060 is build on enhance 16nm process (12nmFFN) instead of die shrink. so to gain significantly performance they need to go big. plus TU106 used for 2060 also used for RTX 2070. if 2060 was properly done on 7nm it will probably have the usually die size we saw on x60 class of GPU.

    There's A BUNCH of Bifrost 7600s on eBay RIGHT NOW for $220 to $250
    Literally just saw them. I don't need them just obsessed with GPUs. I Gotta 4060 laptop open box from Best Buy on Xmas Eve sale for ONLY $779!! And my desktop smashes that with my RX6800+5800X3D, but for a new gaming 60 series laptop, DAMN I gotta good deal! That Lenovo Legion Slim 5 goes for $1200 - $1500 now.
    That being said I may end up getting a 5000 series or an XTX or 4090. I would have a REALLY hard time upgrading to a GPU with the same VRAM, and the 7900XT isn't quite fast enough to merit upgrading. I want XTX, 4090, and MAYBE a 4080 Super, but the 16GB of VRAM pisses me off at 75% more than I paid for my current 16GB GPU. But I may opt for a used 4090 or just wait for the 5080/5090 and sell my RX6800 before it drops too much more in price. But damn, that RX6800 is an absolute BEAST at 1440p, especially in somewhat older games. I can still play lots of games at 4k 60fps like Far Cry 6 with Ultra/RT reflections, but RT shadows in that game suuuck lol so I Keep them off. But most games older than 2-3 years I can do 4k 60fps or 1440p 120fps no problem, which is good as my 4K TV is only 60hz but my 1440p monitor is 144hz.

    I put a 4060 in my HTPC, a serious upgrade from the RX6400 that was in it. Now it can help out with video transcoding duties, where it is about 2/3 as fast as the 4080 in my main PC (using Handbrake to transcode BD rips to AV1). 2/3 the speed for 1/4 the money ain't a bad deal. Gaming? No comparison. The 4080 annihilates the 4060. But that's not what I use the 4060 for most of the time.

    At PCpartpicker, the cheapest RTX 4060 is 295 dollars while the cheapest RX 7600 is 260 dollars right now.
    Also, you can use frame generation on any DX11 or DX12 game with the RX 7600 thanks to AFMF, while you can use frame generation on only a small number of games that support DLSS 3 with an RTX 4060. Not every game developer will spend the time and resources to support DLSS 3.

    Not sure where or how you came up with the total power consumption numbers, but when Techpowerup measured the actual power consumption through the pcie slot and 8pin connector for gaming, they had only a 27w difference …
    RTX MSI 4060 8GB … 125w
    RX 7600 8GB … … … 152w
    Phoronix in their RTX 4060 vs. AMD Radeon RX 7600 Linux Gaming Performance averaged 98w for the 4060 and 111w for the 7600. Only a 13w difference.
    AFAICT MSI Afterburner is under reporting the 4060 numbers and over reporting the 7600 numbers. If these numbers are coming from the AMD drivers, they should fix that.
    Also, the 7600’s idle at lower watts than the 4060’s, techpowerup …
    RX 7600 … … … … … … 2w
    RX Sapphire Pulse 7600 … 4w
    MSI RTX 4060 … … … 11w
    Palit RTX 4060 … … … 14w
    So, 15-20 hrs of lower idle should make up a few hrs of gaming.

    • @stangamer1151
      @stangamer1151 Před 17 dny

      8GB is mostly fine for this class of GPUs, unless you are willing to play AAA games right at launch. Unoptimzed games may utilize more VRAM then they really need to function stable. So you need to wait for some time, until game devs release a few patches. For example, Horizon FW has already received a few patches, yet it still consumes a bit too much of VRAM. So, unless you are willing to play with Medium quality textures, which look pretty blurry, you had to wait another week or two.

      @@BaIlincat43 50 series are supposedly launching with 5090/5080 within this year. Nvidia also sneakily planned an event a day before AMD Computex opening keynote which is I'M SUSPECTING they are launching/paper launch 5090/5080 in order to make AMD card look slower. I mean, AMD only seems to launch a card around 7900GRE-7900XT in performance and around 500USD. If Nvidia get the 5090 which is 4090+30-50% and market the hell out of RT, AMD card gonna look slower even if the RDNA4 improvement on RT seem to be good according to leaks. This could the reason why Nvidia is planning an event a day earlier than AMD. Also as of a day or two ago, AMD just updated the GFX with Navi4X which supposed to be around 50% more shader engine. RNDA3 Navi31 has 6 shader engine and the updated GFX for RDNA4 Navi4X say it has 9 shader engine. I'm not saying AMD is launching a high end card that could possibly compete with 5080 or even 5090, but that could also be the reason why Nvidia is rattled and suddenly plan an event a day before computex.

    So 280 for that card is fair, but they putt a premium on things like brand recognition and brand loyalty. It caused a bunch of outrage, but I have a feeling that most of that outrage came from people who weren't actually in the market for a GPU... But rather a bunch of people who are generally peeved about the prices of GPUs overall.
    If I was in the market during this time, I would have went the 4060 route just because of driver support and I'm familiar with their software. That would have been worth the extra 40-60$ to me. I say that without remembering what the 4050 or 4070 was valued at during the time. Am I remembering correctly that it was kind of an orphan in the line up?

    Helldiver 2 result are not surprising for AMD as the PS5 is using RDNA2. We MIGHT see improvement when games come out with PS5 Pro optimized. This is partly because games aren't specifically design to run with AMD dual issue CU. For RDNA3 dual issue CU, dev mostly have to implement it in their game engine. So a PS5 game isn't gonna be better on AMD unless it's a sponsored title directly from AMD.

    • @noobgamer4709
      @noobgamer4709 Před 18 dny

      Also what people seem to have missed is that unless it's a sponsored title from Nvidia using RT/PT and using their high end card, most games with have either similar result or 10% slower on RX7600 when RT turned on. We mostly see channel benchmarking RT/PT(Cyberpunk/Alan Wake2) and lump them together as average hence why AMD RDNA3 seem weaker where's in reality most RDNA3 card are on par or 10% slower vs Ada card at their respective pricing.
