Most people misunderstood what Mark said when he said "the quest is the better product".
The product is more than just the hardware, which he admitted was great on the vision. But for the average consumer and the things they want to do in VR it is more likely they'll be able to do those things in the quest. The biggest use cases right now are exercise and gaming. Both of which are much better in the quest. At least as things stand today.
Also the Quest doesn't cost $2-3K the Vison Pro is a great piece of tech but as a product its an extreme enthusaist device. The quest pro is an accessible product, the Vision costs more than the average high end PC.
Exactly.
true, I am a fan of Bodycombat on Quest
Vision Pro is definitely the better hardware, but that's like saying that a Bugatti is better than a Honda. They aren't shooting for the same demographic.
90% of the people on Quest couldn't afford a Vision Pro, so the fact that Zuck even felt the need to do a comparison is kinda confusing to me. I don't see Vision Pro taking very many Quest owners away from the Meta ecosystem.
gotta take into account the massive library of games for the quest as well as sideloading due to it being android based, compared to the lackluster set of ipad games for the vision pro
And you have to take into account that not every android app works on the quest, for example you can’t play genshin impact since it don’t have controller support on android, and you definitely won’t playa game like that with 2 finger. Also the hardware is not quiet there on the quest 3, it can barely run ps2 emulation that my 4 years old oneplus 8 pro can run way better. Not to mention that Vision Pro can already share notes and other apps running on the device with other Vision Pro users.
but that's the thing, the vision pro was not made for games
@@weinerglory but what exactly was it made for if not for games? because it can't even do VR or AR properly.

What the quest needs most is hand tracking in steam VR when you lay down, so you dont have to take three controlers into your bed just for playing Hitman on a big screen
VD has that, and you can also use your quest controllers as a game pad, or connect your normal controller via bluetooth
they already do...
as pointed out. Virtual Desktop is your man. Its outstanding at doing passthrough at any angle. I often am lying down sideways head on pillow and only with VD can I rotate the video I'm watching absolutely perfectly. And how you change the size, curve, angle and even resolution was something I found out how to do in minutes. It's really a must have if you've got a PC.
What you are asking about is tracking. How that would happen is like controller tracking as your irl physical body might get in the way for the method of tracking the Quest 3 uses though using 3rd part things like HTC VIVE and SlimeVR fix this. The set up is not easy more so if you want to use the Quest 3 with SlimeVR in SteamVR but it will work but that is everything with how many cables are required for VR right now.
It works in Virtual Desktop but nothing is perfect yet.
The Quest 3 is a VR-gaming-device, the other stuff is just extra. The AVP is an overpriced MR-Device to comsume mostly 2D-content you could do on many other devices as well. You can't play Beat Saber or HL-Alyx with it while you can do almost everything the AVP does on a Quest 3.
I rarely use my Quest 3 for gaming, there are plenty of better things you can do with the headset. when I game on it the function is to use my body and enjoy a form of multimodal aerobics.
we need to evolve
@@ThepurposeofTimeyou will use it in future for gaming because it will have good graphics asgard wrath work good in quest 2 and imagine how arkham shadow will be its quest 3 exclusive
@@ThepurposeofTimeand alien rogue it will have good graphics since it will work with psvr 2 and steam
@@alihussain-jg7nf the graphics are amazing even now. Iv been following vr since 2012 and have had all the development kits
I just don't play the games much because I have a lot of other things in my life. The games are great
I got a Quest 2 on sale recently for roughly $150 and I’ve been impressed, especially with wireless Steam VR. That’s the killer app.
wireless steam vr??
you mean without a pc?
@@nitupsar wireless as in you need a pc to run steam vr then it streams the game to you're vr
@@A5beef Alright. Thanks!
Dude you never played vr games... Apple is garbage for VR gaming and that's an objective opinion.
Simping for Apple. Yeah the display is amazing(I tried it) but it's too heavy, too expensive, and lacks software experiences. The Vision Pro better have better hardware for $3500.! In fact, it better replace your existing PC which it does not! As for external mic support people asked for it! And yes! Why wouldn't they want more people giving them free advertising?! Also, voice chat is a thing that people use.
The quest has always been been a better choice both with pricing and usage. I literally don’t understand how Apple can release a product with barely any apps and somehow expect independent developers to start investing into it when there are no clear interests.
I'm aware of the shortcomings of the quest 3, but so many of the situations you showed it in seemed specifically placed to slander it. There is a best case scenario for everything as well as a worst case.
All things considered, the quest 3's anchoring is pretty phenomenal too. I've been able to walk around the house and still have the screen I put somewhere remaining in the same place very accurately.
The passthrough is significantly better than I think you give it credit for. It's not perfect, but it's damn good, especially given the hardware it's running on.
It's incredibly important to give credit where credit is due, and I personally think that this video was a bit biased in favour of the vision pro. Let's not forget that it also costs 700% of what a quest costs.
My thoughts exactly
Well said.... I just wish the graphics were better.... and not so blurry.
10:25 This is not a niche thing... not sure how long you've had your quest 3 but It originally suffered from harsh plosives form the placement of the built in mic. they fixed it with software but an added option for consumers is also nice
Only thing i wish for a futur meta headset is a micro oled display with great clarity, very few people care about AR applications or passthrough
I would say people do care about ALL of it... myself included.... but yeah a resolution that can output what the current consoles can.... game changer.
Opening up the Meta Horizon OS for other VR headset manufactorers is probably the single most effective step toward earning my trust. I have a Valve Index, and the reason why I've never owned Meta/Oculus VR device is because I don't want to be locked into Meta's ecosystem, buying games that only run on one piece of hardware that I don't even know if I like yet. Now that I'll know I'll have some alternative choices if I make the switch, that's one less barrier to entry for me.
meh. Quest is just a normal Android device, it's already totally open. you can even root it if you want, but there's no real need to because you can run anything as it is, including your own software. and it turns into "Valve Index" by just connecting a cable. "opening" Meta Horizon is more of a marketing buzz-speak and attempt to expand own ecosystem to other hw manufacturers.
@@ironwheal Oh I get that, software-wise, it's been already "open" like that thanks to side loading. I just didn't want to be locked into Meta hardware. It could even be great hardware, but maybe it won't always be. And if I buy games on their platform, I'd be forced to buy future Meta hardware if I wanted an upgrade.
@@ironwhealroot the quest 3 on the current software version. I’m waiting.
Genuinely like your content kyle when your not acting like a complete tool!
Thank you... I was about to write this. Exactly...
The mic thing was for social VR. In other words VRChat, Horizon Worlds, rec room, etc. Meta advertised socializing im VR, and this supports that.
You can record spatial video on the Quest 3 when you adjust some of the settings. See the video of Hugh Hou about that. I made a spatial video using my Quest 3.
I’m an Apple fanboy but damn this was biased af. The Vision Pro is beefier but all it’s good for is productivity tasks and watching stuff. The Quest 3 has actual games and a lot more people doing things with it to make it usable in different scenarios.
Headset like these should be advertised as a gaming headset..which the Quest 3 is, and media and other stuff second....Most people will not be using a headset as a productivity device until they can shrink it to the size of a regular glasses....
Competition is a good thing, means we all get better things. I got the meta quest pro pretty much solely for steam link, but seeing how smooth everything else works, it makes me interested in the rest of the services it has.
The apple vision pro may be more powerful but let's be honest it really cannot compete with the sheer amount of games available on the quest 3 and when it comes to vr that's all people really care about
i have bnoth of them and the quest is so much better to play with overrall.. u can do so much more with quest for WAY CHEAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just bashing on the quest 3 when theyre built for different operations.
When connected to a gamepad you can you glance to select menus, I wish I could use that with pinch gesture like AVP, it's just easier move my head slightly than using my hands as a pointer because ins't precise and makes your arm tired
the Vision pro might be better than a quest, but is it 6 times as good, because its over 6 times the price. 1 vision pro, or 6 quest 3,
I think opening it up is the only way their horizon world stuff would ever work. Locking environments down to device is what holds things like that back.
Performance is partly what kills it, right now. It a mess.
We already started with nonsensical things at the beginning of the video:
1- Is Apple Vision Pro more powerful? yes it's more literally we don't have VR games for him so how will he use this performance? It's made for productivity so there's no comparison, it's like I have an RTX 4090 to use Chrome.
2- does the Apple vision pro have a better passthrough? Yes, but the difference isn't too big to justify the value, it only benefits from not having distortions like in Meta Quest 3.
3- those eyes that you can see outside the device are horrible, or it's difficult to see them and how much do you see the quality is low.
Can I get a link to the deskmat at 0:30
With regards to the Mike thing. I know loads of people who do karaoke in VR are super excited about this, just what I've observed in Banter VR, I'm sure it's likely the same on other platforms.
Is it just me that noticed that his quest 3 had a apple vision pro strap💀
Some of these features have been a thing. The pinch and hold for the hands tracki g has been a thing since quest 2
The Quest 3 has a feature that let's your friends avatar appear in your environment in Mixed Reality mode or your Virtual Environment mode so its not just Apple who has that feature
hey, Apple Vision doesn't even have VRChat! that's totally ridiculous. it's like having a bike without a seat or Windows without Word. for 3.5k$, yeah
I've only used my quest 3 for games and the Apple headset has no games or iPhone games only so if you like having fun choose the quest 3
I want to use mine as a screen replacement, but not with these form factors.
In a nutshell. 👍
i would kill for a black quest 2/3
I'm glad apple made it possible to beef up the Quest 3. I already liked mine, but now it's such an easy to use device. Whatever better the VP can do, it must be phenomenal, because the Quest does a great job already. So good, that it must be phenomenal for me to "upgrade" it to a better device (for the same price). And there's just nothing on the market that can do that.
You have grown so much when it comes to video making Kyler! Excited for more!
Not About This Video. PC RGB LED's burning components. My PC is next to my TV/Monitor I noticed 2 days ago when background is black, my TV has burnt by the LED's in my PC. Have turned them off(2 days) but still have the burn on my TV with what looks like no change.
UFD Tech, Subscribed because your videos are so much fun!
Meta is in it for the long game. They're trying to beat everyone and become the next Apple in the VR world.
Well, not LIKE Apple but more on the lines of if you think about a VR headset, you think about the Quest.
Their goal is to probably be the powerhouse in the future of VR and AR. And they're doing a pretty good job so far.
2:25 my guy they did that for GeForce now players - you should use the the Quest 3 more and you may agree with Mark
The Zuck was actually right. The Quest 3 IS the better product. Maybe not for "spatial computing" and watching video's but for everything else it is. And everything else just happens to be the stuff people actually buy a VR headset for.
I think Apple sold more Quest 3 units than Meta ever could. I have 3k(now bumped it up to 4k just in case) in a separate bank account for when the Deckard goes on pre-sale. I almost kicked an extra 500 to it to get the AVP but I'm not spending that much for anything that Valve doesn't make and isn't 100% supported in SteamVR. I decided to get the Quest 3 because I wanted some sort of update and when the Deckard does come out I only wasted $500 rather than $3500. I am enjoying the pass through on the quest 3, mixed reality games are the only ones I've bought for it and although the controllers suck compared to the Valve Knuckles PCVR works in it really well. It would be nice to get rid of my two monitors and just use a headset but I guess I'll have to wait for the Deckard to do that.
Hmm , quest had higher resolution than vision pro , vision pro uses lens to make the pixels more blurry so it feels sharper , but quest had more pixels. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The apple vision pro blows 😂 that's just an objective truth
This guy is a natural at speaking to the camera
Quest link didn’t have support for 4000 gpus?
I ended up going with the quest pro mainly because the Vision Pro does have eye tracking but it’s not comfortable in vrchat but quest pro does. Maybe that will change in the future but I already bought quest pro so even vision updates it’s too late for me personally.
If Quest 4 has eye-tracking I’m in. You hear me Zucc?!
maybe the quest pro 2 will (quest pro already has but it's passtrough sucks)
This video has the greatest thumbnail I’ve ever seen in my entire life.
Wow, nice update. I had no idea the Quest 3 was updating like that! Maybe time to give it a try vs my Index.
I switched from the Index to the Quest 3 a while ago. Aside from the built in audio the Quest 3 is a substantial upgrade. So much so that I sold my Index.
@@boijorzee I just got The Quest 3 128gb and wow, Super cool! My index is being cleaned off to list on ebay. I'm really Impressed with it for the hour and a half I've spent with it. Just the pass though and walking around the room is super cool!
love my quest 3
Kyle edited out the Chaos Energy!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The reason given for the Meta quest supporting external mics sounds like the ASMR community got a member onto whatever community governs what they work on next. The mic on the VR headset is only 1 input not 2 or more. It also sucks compared to studio mics like he is most likely using for recording this video. So to go along with the before feature to support the R18+ stuff better as that seems to be where that type of thing is used most in streaming which 2+ person vr is a type of streaming. He is correct that the majority of them will be content creators but having features for them is also good.
Not interested in VR but had to watch to understand the Kyle is the Milkman reference in Hot News. 😂 🥛
Umm Kyler I think you found your groove🎉 loving this keep it up man!
I dont think I'm the demographic for vr/ar headsets, but if there was a vut down version that did pass through and game streaming from consoles and pc really well that would be up my ally. I know I wouldn't use the other features or even vr. If that could be at a reasonable price they'd sell me on it.
Bro just compared a $400 headset to a $3.5k well no shit it's less powerful
So quest is trying to hit the nich market of the vision pro? Not a bad thing, just makes it even better then the vision pro still
glad the platform is improving but i dont trust meta enough to buy one of these devices
I ,Ike Kyle. I wish he was on the daily morning show again.
Apple has better. Pass-through and a better UI. That's all I get it. It has better specs but they don't use those specs so you can't really compare it cuz there's no games on the Apple vision pro the Quest. 3, 2 and pro all have game support and the Quest 3 and pro are pretty powerful headsets when it comes to standalone. Plus the Quest 3 is getting an update this year where it has augments
Exactly, in addition, the passthrough itself has already improved Meta Quest 3, now they just need to be able to resolve or significantly improve the distortions in the passthrough, improve manual tracking and the system UI (which is already being remodeled), in addition to that, we had improvements in object detection for mixed reality, in short, in terms of software, Meta quest 3 will only evolve over time.
@@nerddeku9675 agreed
Most reviewers say you can do 70% of what you can do on the Vision Pro. So for an extra 30% is it worth the extra 3k? I'd say nope.
I just want Meta to release that cool wristband that is supposed to compete against Neurolink. If you can pair two of those with a Quest 3 and use them as controllers, I'd be happy
THEY NEED TO BRING BACK "SHOW MIXED REALITY OBJECTS" OPTION...I'm on PTC v65 and they still haven't brought it back
all I want from quest passthrough is no warping. that is my biggest turn off using it.
This is your type of videos. Great job
13:37 KABOOM!!!
Windows 11 24H2 no longer runs on processors without SSE4.2
0:40 like comparing a gokart to a corvette... not too bright. $500 device vs $3500....
I’m surprised you didn’t go to the v64 update’s undocumented experimental features.
brother is doing spins on it
I wish the Quest headsets had 20-40Deg more FOV. That would be a no brainer buy for me. But I will continue waiting until someone discovers that 90-110deg fov kinda sucks for human vision in VR (at least for those of us who are not seeing tunnel vision IRL)
The Quest 3's fov is still at least usable compared to the vision pro which is just too narrow and distracting.
@@Meccarox true, if the quest3 had dimming zones and hdr. I'd consider getting one. But I had the Quest-1-2 and Pico-4 and I couldn't get over the non-existent blacks. Dark games were grey and it was very hard for me to enjoy myself.
The vision pro is an absolute failure. No good apps, vr games suck and or not compatible.
Kyler is now .."the Milkman"
Vision Pro is overhyped and overpriced! Waiting to buy one off eBay 🧐.
The quest 3 is more usable and accessible. The apple product did not raise the bar, they just put out a super expensive thing that nobody can afford or use.
Good video, hope to see you do more soon. 😊🖤
Stony Tark wants to know your location
nah de quest can do 99% of vision for 3000$ less
I don't think he's arguing against that. He's just saying that meta is copying / adapting some of the nice features apple's headset has. It's a win-win showing that competition is great.
Controllers
Quest 3 is way better for gaming but Vision Pro is better for watching media/web browsing.
It really is just about price. For probably 99% of parents buying something for their children. 3-7 hundred is range.
You want iPhone?, get a 2 year old one or cheapest new model.
You want a PC, a pre built one for 500
Gaming console with games, 700.
If apple released a headset for 699, it would sell but I don't think they will do that.
Yes they will make a cheaper model for 1000-1500 ish but it won't be released every year like iPhone so price of a old one won't go down as much. If it's every 2 years then one 2 generations ago is already 4 years used and is a lot less likely to be bought as a gift.
Maybe in 2030-2035 a 1000$ headset from apple would be more adorable due to inflation and a decade of manufacturing to get the cost down.
Edit. My point was if you are buying a Vr headset for someone else you will go to meta instead. Better app store and will mimic the good things from apple eventually including resolution of screens.
This guy has to have personal beef with Mark Zuckerberg or something.
Apple vision pro is already failure as consumer product. No killer app for $3500. yes it sparks interest for AR... that's all.
What i got away from this video is that Zuck needs a beard
Im sick of all the mark hate. Quest is a great product and meta has pushed vr tech forward more then anybody.
A lot of wild claims here. I'm going to need some evidence for these "real life friends"
Is that your mom's basement? Does she know about your emmersive content? :) lol 😆..Nice video thank you..
lol, "spatial computing" is just marketing bla-bla-bla buzzword. there's nothing behind it. there are still no real use cases and no real usable software for Apple Vision, while there are plenty for Quest (games, PCVR, modeling, archviz, painting, etc, etc). so even if AVP cost 350 bucks instead of 3500, Quest 3 would still be a better product.
So you know one cost 7 times more right? 😂3500 to 500 is not a small difference
0:34 if i pay 7x more but i dont even get controllers and have to have a wired battery in my pocket i would feel pretty dumb.
The Quest and VP can not really be compared, yes they are both VR Headsets but the Quest is more a entertainment console and the VP is more like a productivity device imo.
Except it doesn't make you more productive anyways.

I don't like Facebook, but my god people are giving Apple way too much credit. Also if a device is 600% more expensive, OF COURSE it's going to have better hardware. It's so weird people keep comparing the two like they're the same price. If you consider all the shit you get for the smaller cost, the Quest STOMPS Apple's junk.
