As a disabled human, making things accessible is a wonderful thought. However, I can't for life of me see how price gouging the needy makes things accessible.
Quite simple my friend, you have no choice, they know that, so they want everything from you, in the end all they care is money, they would even end your life if they will find a way how to proffit from that and get away with.
Well, typically it’s more because of how product development works. If it costs a company $1m to develop a product, make the manufacturing molds/pcbs/lines for it all, and they sell 8 million of them, they can sell them cheaper and make a profit. If they can only sell 100k of them, they’re going to be much more expensive even to make LESS profit.
That's also why bleeding edge stuff usually is expensive in comparison to what's currently on hand today. Just give it a few years and it will get cheaper.
Supply and demand.
Research and development with a low volume in sales.
The big problem with a nvidia handheld is it will at most be something like an android gaming or streaming device, not unlike the original nvidia shield. Nvidia only makes arm chips so it would need a translation layer for any PC games.
The only solution to this would be to have an intel or amd cpu with nvidia gpu but I assume they want to make a modern tegra chip.
What is the difference btw arm and cpu please!
@@abdelkarimkeraressi1418Most PC CPUs made nowadays use x86, which is a CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer) architecture. Most smartphone and tablet CPUs use ARM, which is a RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) architecture. CISC architectures are generally designed for power and versatility, while RISC architectures are designed for simplicity and power efficiency. Both architectures require a license to use, and only AMD and Intel have an x86 license, which is why Nvidia doesn't make PC CPUs like the other two.
Nvidia shield. They tried the handheld gaming thing already.
I could see them teaming up with intel
nvidia not making handheld. and the one that going to make the chip is mediatek. so it is not a tegra chip.
I thought most of the high priced items (CPUs/GPUs) are manufactured in Taiwan, and therefore not subject to the tariffs?
Taiwan is China
As far as GPU's its the smaller components that are sourced from China. It's a lot like US cars being assembled in Mexico.
8:00 God wants to see more too. ⛈
The genuine look of surprise on his face was perfect.
The frikken lighting and thunder as soon as you mentioned Nintendo™
HEY BRETT! What if the reason the Steam Deck does so well in 1% and 0.1% lows compared to the competition is Windows, rather than Z1 Extreme sucking? What if the reason the Windows-based handhelds can't hit the low power modes the Steam Deck can hit is because of Windows? Apparently there's a small but dedicated community out there swapping out Windows on the Legion Go or Ally with a SteamOS-style Linux called Bazzite, what if it's better?! Other than Game Pass etc etc etc etc but other than that, what if it's better? The world needs to know! With benchmarks!
Theres no clear better, depends on use case, your budget and needs. It is quite a bit more nuanced than that but overall:
If you need windows games with 100% compatibility with widows at a higher pricepoint vs the more console like experience that runs most windows games of the steam deck vs nintendos catalog only on the switch.
Biggest selling point of the steamdeck to me was using all your existing back catalog and no extra purchases as well as repairability and customisation (i have a 64 GB version with a 2TB hdd in for example)
Well steam os whic is based on Linux with vulkan and proton will always be more stable than windows because its a gaming consol and vulkan or proton a beutifull api compare to any DX because how efficient they are compare to DX..
Edit : example are if u wanna proceed something with dx its gonna be need to cross 2 lane and 20km but a vulkan and dx because they are more simple whic in turn make it more efficient only gonna need crosing 1 lane and 20km.
Brett my man, the reason your son's bed costs so much IS cause insurance picks it up in the US.
The rest of the world medical kit is like 20 percent of the US price
Vinfast is based in Vietnam, not China. There aren't really any BYDs sold in the US, but Volvo/Polestar is owned by Geely and has been selling some EVs made in China. I think they represent the vast majority of current cars effected by these tariffs. The China made EVs are really good and US consumers should have access to them with less of a markup, even if it's bad for Ford/GM/Tesla.
Definitely agree on the China made EVs. I've had a BYD Dolphin for 5 months now and it's by far the best car i've ever owned.
I know it might be off topic but I was looking to reuse some older but very strong cpus and ram I have. I wanted to build a couple mini pcs but for the life of me I am finding MB and cases. Is ITX as close as I can get?
Stoked for nvidia chips in handhelds coming !! We needed this esp seeing how big intel fumbled the bag with the claw
Same! It has been well needed.
Dlss and power efficiency is the big one
If I was a gambler, I'd put all my chips on Nvidia eventually creating their own financing (i.e. like Dell with monthly payments) for graphic cards and other Nvidia products. This allows them to charge what they really want for their founders edition cards and sell a lot more of them to continue their plan of pushing AIBs out of business. Mark my words, it's coming.
If Nvidia makes a handheld gaming OC I'd be interested in it
Why do people act as if microsoft making a x86 on arm transkation layer is a new thing when
the translation layer already exists, its called box86 (only works on systemd-based GNU/Linux systems) (better performing than rosseta2)
Windows has had one for 30 years.
NT 4 (probably 3.51 too) ran x86 code on mips, alpha, and whatever else it ran on.
Wait... this is news to you?
Nvidia has made handhelds before in the past with the Nvidia Shield Handheld Console using their Tegra chips, and that was before the Nintendo Switch
my sister's friend's dad was completely deaf but could rap along to eminem
so is that go for the deaf guy or bad for em?
I say the ideal handheld is a thunderbolt5 GPD win/Aya neo flip with air jet solid state cooling, 16 lunar lake e-cores, celestial i-GPU and 1080p AMOLED screen. we should have a device as small as a samsung galaxy fold that runs like a runs like a full i9-9900 desktop when docked. keep in mind e-cores are already i3-6100U level in terms of single thread and with node jumps and architecture changes you can expect a good 30% performance increase at a minimum.
If it doesn't run SteamOS or an offshoot/workalike seamlessly, it's not a good handheld PC.
Thank you for sharing Proteus, I've pre-ordered it as I want to support any movement in this direction for people with disabilities. So what if I run a 7900XTX vs a 4090, the money saved can go towards worthy causes like this.
Why when you have 4K media woul you want default upscasling
Apple's eye tracking... we, the world suspects ulterior motives, backlash in 3..2..1. Meta was wise to handle this subject very gently.
was that thunder or Reeces' banging deals?
i will get nvidia hendheld and skip 5090,i think my currwnt 4090 will hold up very well for 1080p gaming for few yr to come 😊
Hopefully an NVIDIA handheld means new chips like Tegra that will lead to a new NVIDIA shield.
Lets hope this handheld will also mean a new nvidia shield TV 😃
Run! Brett!! It’s Nintendo making sure you don’t say anymore slander!
Another great episode of the news, thank you!
19 seconds in.
Double checking that date.
We see you.
Also as daily user of Adobe Illustrator (Have to for the company I work for) I was shocked to see my little icon representing artificial intelligence as well. As a daily driver of Illustrator, although it may be ARTtificial, it's a long long LONG way from being intelligent. (Beach ball spinning, hang-up stuttering, bloated piece of crap that can bring even the mightiest of Macs to it's knees kind of dumb)
The new Uber bus
20,000 for just a CONVERSION kit?! The fuuuck??!! 🤮😡
Mother Nature trying to get her spot in your Hot News? Give her a segment, buddy! She deserves it, right?
I struggle to understand the logic behind Microsoft's pricing of accessibility controller. it's not like people with physical disadvantages can work multiple jobs to afford the price difference between the flake one and Proteus one. I mean it's even more expensive than the Elite Controller. twice. costs as much as a series S console.
Your office self-destructing on ya?
TikTok creators suing the U.S. from making a law in Congress is comical.
That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.
Yeah that's quite funny 😂
If you want a repair kit, def pickup that ifixit toolkit. I have the pro kit, as well as 3 other screwdriver sets, dont regret buying any of them
Who in the heck wants an EV based on what happened this winter...
I got some weird artifacting from the upscaling in chrome while on youtube. I wonder if it will do the same on firefox
correct me if I'm wrong but... if Nvidia APUs runs on a handheld, the battery will be gone in 20 minutes.... I don't know how Nvidia is gonna do this, amd is light years ahead of them on this department
Nvidia has much better perf per watt on their GPUs compared to AMD. For example, the RTX 4060 operates at around 50 watts less than the RX 7600.
yay
If I was nvidia I would give them an updated chip and get a cloud deal with them. With a commitment to play Nintendo games that are more higher end to be offloaded to a cloud service for high texture packs to be streamed into game. Internet required. Also require gfn to be on the switch. Literally would destroy every console out and wouldn’t need upgrades. So no discounts on hardware or games but would only need to upgrade because it broke not because it’s aging.
AI - isn't that how Canadians start a sentence about themselves? "Ay, I really enjoyed last night's hockey game."
that modular Xbox controller, how easy it is it to assemble for someone (adult) with a one hand? I get the feeling someone who's fully abled would have to put or together first, unless the parts snap on magnetically. Looks very cool tho, even for fully able people, and the API side of it might really help expand on this.
We need better subsidizing of accessibility (and medical) even for more well off people. If you're dealing with special needs you get double screwed- your (or family members) condition coupled with HIGHER costs.
Also, prefer robots for some things... but these days if the robot can handle it, I coulda handled it on the internet
😀
Anyone else not excited about another Cheap Nintendo Handheld with a controller that will break at the first drop and more remakes than the NFL and NBA Franchise games combined? Nintendo, do us a favor and allow us to buy the ported over games since the Nintendo subscription service is useless.
10:47 that's Microsoft after heading about your dodgy robot key activations. That sound was Bill Gates cloven hoofs pounding the world.
does the tarif mean i should buy a new GPU early as a european before the prices rise or
China doesn't make much semiconductors. CPU's and GPU's are made in Taiwan.
There may be a couple mosfets or something on the board that are made in China, but all the expensive stuff is made in Taiwan.
The problem with a NVIDIA handheld is ARM, u cant compete with valve, u are comparing a Handheld Console vs Handheld Computer.
Brett making God Jensen mad @ 7:58 and God Gates mad @ 10:42 made me LMAO!
Oh joy! Just what we need. More expensive PC parts.
China doesn't manufacture the majority of silicon chips, that's done in Taiwan. This won't have much of an affect. It may raise the cost of some individual components on a main board, but CPU's and GPU's are not made in China...
I wonder if the Tarrifs will affect Australians too?
Seems like only if Australia does the same, or some of your Chinese semi-conductors move through the US.
Hopefully, your politicians have a better take on free markets than ours do.
Brett with the hand chop for Nvidia Handheld gaming chips
Oh great, even more expensive tech components................great.......
I'm sure you already know this but buy used items from other handicapped families. As my sister grew out of things, we would make sure they went to ppl who needed them.
"Gameing shhh" Caught me off guard🤣🤣🤣
Nvidia teamimg up with mediatek will result the same as Samsung and AMD
You should watch that interview with the CEO of apple going gaga over gyna production...and why they go there for parts...what a joke company
Hallo
lets be absolutly real for 2 seconds, dlss is mandatory on handheld , especially if you can use 540p to upscal it to 1080 p on a monitor , because dlss is that usable , right now i wouldn't want to do that with fsr and xess is unfortunatly not supported enough imo,
a nvidia pc handheld chip is what most people would want , even the anti nvidia poeple , because ,deep down , they know dlss can allow them to play with better in game visual settings without a significant loss in picture quality
why would i want that? a hand held is a hand held, the people who use this as an console are not to many i think, and we all know that even DLSS is bad at low resolutions.. also AMD and Intel will still be preferred i think because they can give a total package.. im not waiting on a ARM CPU with nVidia graphics.. i rather have x86 on my handheld like all the good handheld are now, and AMD and Intel are the only ones who can do that
@@Sini420 handheld can be docked and thus actually be the " main pc " all you have to do is get a mouse a keybord and a monitor , and voila ,you have an actual pc
dlss bad a lower resolution ?
yet everyone is fine with fsr on the handheld those smae handheldthat can connected to a monitor
, something is wrong here , and as far i am concerned dlss is alright epecially at 720p and 540p is usable with dlss ,
go see a comparison between dlss and fsr,
in fact there is a nice video showcasing dlss and fsr in the new starcitizen update ,its a one sided massacre .
and yes , sadly amd and intel are the only one doing it and arm support can be complicated , just need to look at how game run on macbooks arm vs x86 pc
still , would you spit on a r780m wiht dlss compatibility instead of fsr ?
@@jeofthevirtuoussand Yeah i know that is possible, but i dont think many people use it that way.. because you know..its a hand held
yes upscaling (FSR, DLSS) are bad at low resolutions.. that is generally known by most people who use those techniques.. if it makes the game playable sure you use it, thats why people are fine with it but at those resolutions, (1080p and lower) you rather not.. i guess its depends on the user.. its not for me
But to come back at your original question.. its still no.. im not waiting on a handheld with nVidia graphics.. for the same reasons i already mentioned
But if you really want it.. you are in luck.. get yourself a Switch 2 and you have exactly what you want
Dude sounds like hes being bombed
Did you anger Nintendo?
Yay, I have to deal with "more" politics when I'm trying to buy pc parts.
You have to deal with politics in everything you do that includes money.
Spoiler Alert: you deal with politics whenever you buy literally anything.
Most things are political in some way
Welcome to reality
Just wait till you hear about taxes...
Lower-volume production will always cost more per unit since startup costs are spread over a smaller number of end items... BUT... Corporations proved beyond a shadow of a doubt in the mining pandemic that scarcity is an open invitation to gouge.
I would not buy a Nvidia handheld. It'll probably cost 3 times what it should.
I don't buy for a second that Nvidia is frustrated with Nintendo. We know from the data breach that Nintendo has spent what is likely millions in R&D to develop a custom chip (T239). We also know that it was in development starting in 2019, before Ampere had been in production, so they wouldn't have had the time to tape out a custom Lovelace or Blackwell chip, much less turn it into a useable product. It serves Nvidia's interests to have a product that not only gets their GPUs into the hands of non-PC gamers, but also ensures that their technologies like DLSS become more widespread in game engines. They should be absolutely ecstatic over their relationship with Nintendo.
i think some people take this news the wrong way.
Only if Nintendo actually chooses to utilize Nvidia’s tech. We’ve already seen (as well as Nintendo fans making the defense) that Nintendo is more about making fun and polished games vs pushing high end graphics in their games, whenever the Switch gets criticized for it’s lack of processing power.
@@y2kam550 games only need decent graphic. Many games the graphical fidelity start having diminishing return once you reach medium. In some games even medium already look as good as their high/very high counter part. One of the mistake some console maker end up doing is when they start the "who got the better spec" war among them.
If nvidia bet on itself to outsell nintendo with there own gaming device they are fools and when look back on years from now they will learn from this mistake.
it’s not breakfast time tho (it’s 15:46 here i know i live in a weird time zone)
Still have my shield portable, box and all ;) And Tablet lol though charge port is a lil wonky
I have the original Shield Tablet and got a second, due to the battery issue (removed software killswitch on prior unit, so I had TWO)
nvidia can't compete with AMD in terms of handheld. if they had it before probably why now? AMD experience on handheld is far more advanced now.
i agree
They worked on the switch lol, I say they know what they are doing
nvidia can do it. else nintendo would not go with nvidia in the first place for their switch and it's successor. but i see people make wrong assumption with this new news. nvidia are not making any new handheld. the one that making the chip (meant to be used by handheld device) is mediatek. nvidia just licensing their GPU IP to mediatek.
@@toastdtech3597 what about handheld can play triple-A games? 🤣
It will probably be pretty good as long as the CPU is good and translation from x86 is good (if it's on windows), I don't doubt it will work well. Nvidia knows what they're doing. The switch had a dated, mediocre chip when it came out. It wasn't trying to compete with anything really. If they wanna compete, they will.
Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightening, me
I’m pretty sure the lease threatening lawsuit you can get, is TikTok creators
Nintendo angers GODS 8:00
TikTok lawsuit will be thrown out because the creators are being supported by tiktok, lawyers will just say the creators are being paid to bring use the lawsuit when it's really tiktok who wants to sue.
mediatek? more like mediakek
Having worked with special needs children and adults in the past, I am well aware of the upcharge. When finding items for a sensory room, I was pricing disco balls. In a catalog for music equipment, I could get a good sized one for $25. In the catalog for special needs equipment, it was easily $200 for the exact same disco ball.
I don't trust Nvidia with integrated graphics
Thirst
Hope governments subsidize more accessibility stuff, markets will never care about low yield products unless they have luxury price tags attached to them.
3:23 800 watt psu by apevia is only 60$ on amazon rn
If this is true, This could be a game changer for NVIDIA!
WOW! Hoping that was thunder clapping, and not anyone doing a half gainer off the furniture!!! Trying to make light of a not so light situation... Cheers!
I am happy with these handheld developments.
I thought Vinfast was from Vietnam?
Pretty sure they are
The Gods are angry with you, Bret! What did you do?
Paranormal Hot News, quick we need an old priest, a young priest, and some holy water cooling.
Soylent I am sorry but you need a name change that doesn't remind me of eating people......and don't rebrand to "used toilet water" either...
“Soylent” sounds so tasty and refreshing though. Even if they ever do start selling bits of people, it still sounds like a scrummy treat. Who would care really?
@@eustacequinlank7418 hahah...Delicious RAT BLOOD!!!! hahaha

the thunder gods want more kyler....
I really really hope Intel and AMD can catch up with Nvidia on graphics capabilities. Nvidia products are impressive but the price is getting out of hand. I haven't bought a Nvidia product since the 1080. I have an A770 for an upgrade and can say it's pretty shocking how well it works when they were able to optimize the driver for the software.
Yay round 4 of GPU shortages
we are going to start building local now
Microsoft Proteus looks heavy
Calm F-- down "PC master race" most components are made in Taiwan, Japan and Korea Plus new factories are coming online in Vietnam and India. System integrators like Lenovo and Apple will be the most affected.
Yeah, china is not a big semiconductor manufacturer. CPU's, graphics cards, etc (all the expensive stuff) is all made in Taiwan.
Don't think Nvidia hand held be a thing to many factor outside of android unless software makes head way and don't hope for microsoft to do it as it's takes work to do any emulation from x86 to arm to get games to work right.
I'm glad to hear Jensen is having just as much of an frustrating experience with Nintendo as their Core Audience. There's some beatiful Irony in all this.
5:30 i wouldn't object to paying an extra £ for a standard controller if it meant that the accessible controller was standard price. Just saying.
6:52 AI AI AI AI IT’S AI GENERATED
nvidia an probably make the same thing as amd did but will they put a op chip in it to give it more performance and power than amd's can maybe but probably not if nvidia is siding with intel
