    One of the coolest things about life in general to me is that it tries to adapt in real time. If you are constantly in situations that need to change to not get injured, your body will start doing that in just a few days

    I have been training and practicing arm wrestling very seriously for 18 months. When I started, my wrist averaged 7.2 inches. Now, 18 months later, it measures 7.5 inches. I know it is not a significant increase, but it should be noted that I have lost a lot of weight in fat. which would imply that my wrist should be thinner due to the loss of fat, so it has become wider than I thought.

    having small wrists is unlucky because it leads to a lot of pain and weakness, i have very small wrists but i have been working out for 3 years now and with that have built decent strength. Wrist pain has nothing to do with size. I have really small wrists and do pike pushups, handstands, pullups, planche lean, dips and I've never experienced any wrist pain. It sounds like you either lack prehab exercises or your wrists are generally weak due to diet, genetics, etc.

    • @nils4134
      @nils4134 Pƙed 4 měsĂci +3

      @@YRO. Maybe, though I'm pretty sure the size of my wrists affects my strength which then in turn can lead to pain after curling etc. because my wrist can handle less weight than my biceps. I understand what you mean but I'm quite strict with form and warm-ups.

    • @nils4134
      @nils4134 Pƙed 4 měsĂci

      i have to add however whether or not its genetics, results of bad training or just having small wrists you can definitely do something about it (proper warm-ups, paying attention to your exercise execution and testing out different equipment), for me it has gotten a lot better but it still is a small issue

      Instead of being careful, grip the bars with maximum effort, as if forcing your grip. Do this with every exercise that requires you to use your hands to hold something. This will not only give your wrists more endurance but also result in firmer hands, stabilizing your movements more easily.

    I think with the muscle that is between the two forearm bones that you can increase your wrist size, but it will mostly be the depth of your wrist. I haven't made measurements but since weight lifting in the past 3 months my wrists look exactly the same from above but definitely chunkier from side on, and I haven't been training my forearms specifically.

    My guess as a med student is the extra pulling on the wrists makes it adapt by thickening the tendons that pass around the wrist so it can hold the joint better? Idk its just some BS i made up..
    Whats known tho is tendonitis
    Too much stress on joints can tear and inflame tendons, The tissue will fix itself quickly if the damage is slight or happens only sometimes. But pain can become constant if the damage happens often.

    The only problem I think with having a thin wrist is that it is more "fragile" and may limit you at some point when doing advanced calisthenics exercises (generally those with a thin wrist have other joints in the body that are thinner too and this would limit you in strength exercises if you dream of being a powerlifting athlete)

    I've been busy for 2 months now and I only see growth in visible bloodvessels (or muscles, not sure what is) in my arm. They are almost jumping out.
    The width in the wrist itself doesn't change for me yet. I am very skinny though and I can't say no to delicious meat yet but once
    I go full protein diet it might help?
