I'm an art teacher. One semester I had a class full of students who all happened to be the most compliant type of personalities. On the last day we displayed everyone's work. I couldn't tell them apart. đź Conflicted feelings. đ In the end, I got very concerned that my methods may have squashed the creativity out of them.

Many would argue thatâs the ideal soldier and for most practical purposes it is, but leadership requires abstract thinking. The best soldiers are the ones that follow orders but know how to improvise if the situation calls for it
The soldier use to pass some stages: initial training, improved technics, professional training,- and only being with it's actual unit he may be forced to improvise. But at the basic training stage - You just have to learn lots of things and do it fast. Don't thinking - just doing as it told to You. Trying to think You're just waisting time. Just do and You'll get enough time to think about it later. Maybe in few months or years if You are clever enough - You'll understand what is that all about. But first just do, learn, don't waist time for thinking.
The only problem with this mindset is that you will be unable to be a commander with it. To be a leader, you have to be creative and think outside the box and adapt at a moments notice, you can't wait around for somone to tell you how to complete an operation.
A soldier that became like this would get kicked out. A soldier incapable of our being willing to think for themselves is not what our military wants or need.
