I hope you enjoyed this horror movie video.
If you have any suggestions for future film reviews leave them in the comments. - ZĂĄbava
I feel like no one talks about âdead silenceâ and itâs one of my favorites! Definitely an underrated gem from me!
Remember Mary shaw
Probably because Puppet movies started getting corny
You don't understand how happy I was when I seen Ginger Snaps being mentioned in your video. It's really my favorite movie of all time and I love that both you and Sarah Hawkinson mentioned this movie.
Oh thats great!
The Descent is one of my all time favorite movies also, Iâve watched it so many times. And Iâm so HAPPY you mentioned Frontier(s) my favorite foreign horror movie.
The cave has a similar sating, i love it.
Those Crawlers became the next faces of fear behind Creeper
This format is great! Iâd definitely watch a Best Horror Movies of the 90âs video if you made it
Thanks Tia!
No problem! And thanks for replying to me ^^
@@spookyastronauts PLease make movies of the 90's
Yes please
I love âThe Uninvitedâ (2009). I just think that the twist in this just left me speechless. Also âShutterâ (2004) is so good and I keep coming back to it because itâs scary, itâs suspenseful, and kinda gory. The 2000s had a lot of awesome movies!
Gods, yes. The Uninvited is one of the first horror movies I've ever watched and I also love it.
I bet I'm looking at it through my nostalgia goggles, but I really think it's good and it flows a little better than A Tale of Two Sisters (the original Asian version with the same story). Although they go a step further than the Americans if it comes to the twist.
Yeah 2000s was pretty cool when you look back!
@@Nexils I think it's a solid movie. If you watch through it again and realize that no one ever pays attention to Alex is just such an awesome touch that I didn't notice the first time I watched it.
Dude watch A tale of Two Sisters it's the original film that The Uninvited was based off of
@@Eli-4-0-4 I really want to watch it. I can only imagine what the original is like. Thank you!
So glad you mentioned High Tension and Frontier(s) . I have recommended those two to so many people. Both are great films!
The Mist doesn't get enough love
Iâve done a whole video on it!!!! Love the film, just not my fav of that year
Matthew DeBona Great creature feature!
My favourite horror movie of all time!
not gonna lie i hated the mist. loved the concept but the execution felt a bit tacky to me
Great movie until that ending.
Martyrs is in my top 3 of all time. Itâs also one of the only films that truly disturbed me. I wish this film would play UNCUT at a cinema in the U.S. I also keeping wondering if a film will ever top Martyrs.
I knew some of you guys would feel the same!
as soon as i watched martyrs it instantly became my overall favorite film of all time!!
Frontiers a European horror movie about 10 years old is very close to martyrs, also, inside is brutal but amazing.robp
So glad to see so many people have like me been scarred to life by this movie... (correction however it is french, not french canadian đ)
I love ginger snaps so much!
so good!
spookyastronauts have you seen dog soldiers?
So happy to hear someone talking about the Orphanage, it's such a brilliant film. I even showed it to a group of my friends who don't really like horror, and even they thought it was great and appreciated the atmosphere created.

So creepy!
I love this Format, please go on with the 90s!! :-)
Very tough List since I had to look up which movie was in which year...here I go with my personal Top 20:
- Martyrs
- Inside
- The Descent
- Session 9
- The Loved Ones
- Silent Hill
- 30 Days of Night
- Drag Me to Hell
- The House of the Devil
- The Poughkeepsie Tapes
- The Midnight Meat Train
- Grindhouse (if you look back, these Features and Trailers were pretty influential since they made this forgotten kind of Horror popular again)
- High Tension
- Amer
- A Tale of Two Sisters
- The Mist
- Wolf Creek
- Hostel (also Part II)
- Lake Mungo
- The Strangers
And some honorable mentions I have to...well...mention :-D Bereavement (I love Stevan MenaÂŽs Manevolence-Trilogy!) , Let the Right One In, Cherry Falls (one of my personal Slasher-Faves of the 2000s), American Psycho, Ju-On, Jeepers Creepers, My Little Eye, Saw, Baby Blues, The Hills Have Eyes, Deadgirl, 28 Days Later (also Weeks), May, House of 1000 Corpses, Vinyan, Eden Lake
Yeah...you pronounce Max Schreck just like a real German ;-)
Is Requiem for a Dream Horror? It might and should be in my List, too!
Thank you!
SO GLAD you mentioned Thirst!
I'm not into blood & gore in horror films but I've seen Thirst a few times now and it really is a unique film. Very interesting take on the genre.
100%%%% agree!
The Happiness Of The Katakuris, Yes! Good to see someone else that likes it, I am going to see Takashi Miike's new movie next week, First Love
First Love is a good one!
Enjoy!
2000 to 2009 before I got deep into filmmaking was when I used to go to the theatres and/or track down everything. This was a blast from the past! And omg I luuuuuuv Happiness of the Katakuris. One of the funniest movies I'll ever see Lol
Yay glad you enjoyed this video!
I'm glad that there's *French Horror Movies* i love them as well. You should also see *INSIDE* , it's my fave french horror movie! đ
Please do a list of you *Top Asian Horror Films* . Thanks Emma! đ
Iâve done a whole stream on inside! Great film!
I just watched the remake of Inside last night. The ending is HORRIBLE. The original is, of course, fantastic.
I love the gore scenes. The scissor scene gave me a flinched as if I'm the one who's in pain. That was the best. đ
@@jomsjei11 i watched this movie too...I would say It was a really weird movie
Martyrs is one of my all time favourite horror movies. Brutal, captivating and intellectually interesting all at the same time. I'm also glad you rated Eden Lake. I stumbled across this film by accident and found it equally compelling and disturbing. As a Brit, I could identify with the characterizations - the victims and the assailants (albeit to a lesser extreme). It's hard to articulate, but the characters are like characatures of urban society. An underrated film in my opinion (and the ending is horrific). You've also provided a few to add to my watch list so thanks for the recommendations
You should do a video for 90âs horror favorites too
I will :D
this format is great Emma! keep the good work â€ïž
Thank you!!!
This format is the best!! Living for the hidden gems
Thank you
here after watching your 90s list, i can't believe i missed these lmao i came so fast to see if you would choose ginger snaps for 2000 and i was so happy
Thoroughly enjoy these movies. You also mentioned one of my favourite horrors Orphan! It is gloriously disturbing and creepy.
So good!
I really enjoy your vids!
Thank you thank you Emma for giving some love to The Orphanage. The ending haunts me to this day - chills and tears!
Excellent recommendations, as always. May!!!
The Ring is one of my all time favorites. Enjoyed the video.
Love these types of videos and I really do hope you make a 90s video! (as Iâm not really familiar with that decade of horror, I only know scream and the ârip offsâ) but Iâm curious to see if youâre going to bring back That Scene! Iâve loved that series since your first episode and I love your depictions of the films you discuss!
Korean "A Tale of 2 sisters" French 'Inside 2007" and yes Martyrs is also among the best horror ever
Your taste is so amazing, dear! Final Destination 2 is my favorite in the series too and I adore Scream 3. Gale is my fave as well
Love these! 90s next??
YESSSS! Loved this â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž please please please do the 90âs!!! Also I would love to see a video about the alleged real story behind Orphan
Omg!! I have never heard anyone talk about May! Love it so much :)
Please do the 90s! Your videos always recommend lots of hidden gems I never heard of. I truly appreciate your work :)
Your Format is the BEST!đđ
Great Selections, as ALWAYS!đ
Thank you!
I love your videos Emma! Keep up the great work, you are amazing!
I really like many of these movies.
My personal favourites of the 00s I think are orphan, the others, the uninvited and orphanage!! âĄ
All of them have an amazing twist!!!
please do a love letter to the descent - I flipping love that film and it just gets me every time like ahhhh
Your film recommendations are awesome! Just watched "Eden Lake" and thought it was great!
Great review Emma keep reaching for the stars.
I love this theme of films of the decade, this was a great one and I vote yes for another about the 90s, really good video
Thank you!
Mine are:
2000 - Final Destination
2001 - The Others
2002 - Signs & Cabin Fever
2003 - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre & Final Destination 2
2004 - The Village & Saw
2005 - The Descent
2006 - Final Destination 3 & When A Stranger Calls
2007 - Vacancy & Disturbia
2008 - The Strangers
2009 - Friday The 13th
I dig this format. I would enjoy the 90s list!
Oh damn! Orphan is so good! Must be one of my top 10 movies of all time, watched it so many times. And Isabelle Fuhrman just absolutely rocked playing the role of Esther. Glad to see people share the love of this gem!
Great list, Emma! My favorites: The Others, May, Martyrs. I'm gonna have to check out Three Extremes. Please do best of 90s, 80s, 70s, & 60s
I can do the 90s for sure... a little scared to do the 80s! haha!
Finally somebody talks about high tension!
Yeah, one of best French horror movies ever made
I don't know, the twist kinda ruined it for me. Great until the ending tho.
e/ But when it comes to french horror, I prefer Martyrs. That one is actually one of the best in general, imo.
Glad you are a fan!
Underrated movie also directed by the guy who made The Hills Have Eyes remake
When I watched High Tension I was shocked at how close it was to Dean Koontz's book 'Intensity'. I'm surprised there wasn't a law suit.
Thanks for the list, Emma and for the shout-out to "The Booth" (which was my 31 Days recommendation). I've seen most of the films on your list, but I still have to at least see "Eden Lake". Scream 3, The Ring and The Booth are all favorites of mine as well. Saw, High Tension and Martyrs are impossible to forget once you see them.đ
A couple of hidden gems for me would be Cherry Falls (2000), Session 9 (2001), Silent Warnings (2002), Phone (Korean, 2002) and Eight Legged Freaks (2002).
I'm conflicted on High Tension since they pretty much ripped off the whole plot from the Dean Koontz book "Intensity". He never sued though because he didn't want a controversy to tarnish the original book.
I'm actually blind buying Intensity (the TV movie) this week because I'm tired of waiting for it to appear on a legitimate streaming service. I look forward to it because I've been meaning to watch it for years. Have you seen the movie adaptation?
ć€§ć« that was such a good book.
Interesting, didn't know this.
@@AngieWade such a good book!
Accidentally stole this book from a friend!
Great recommendations.
Fabulous compilation personal favourite horror films from the 2000's! I am really enjoying your "hidden gems" format !! I think I am not alone in the fact that "we all" would very much like your personal favourite horror films from the 1990's ! Stay Spooky :-)
Thank you!!
omg iâve been waiting for you to make this vid
:D
Hey so many awesome movies! You have nearly all my favs up there and I love that you put The Orphanage, so underrated. From your list I would add Triangle and REC. Both were tremendous movies. SInce you seem to like thrillers with horror elements, I'd recommend The Skeleton Key and What Lies Beneath.
Nice compilation
great picks
great video! please make this a series (90s, 80s, 70s etc..)
Thanks for the feedback!
Great list! Please do a best of the 90's!
:D
Your videos always do help Em. Some that I haven't seen are triggered to be seen when you suggest them. This is a great series... imagine 90s, 80s, 70s ??? Thanks.
Thanks Daniel! 90s will be fun / challenging!
Dumplings from Three Extrenes is one I have thought about so many times over the years. I still cannot eat dumplings because of it.
I have never seen Frontier(s) but most certainly adding it to my list now.
Thanks for another great video!
Eden lake is so disturbing in a realistic manner. I recently read it was written by the same person who wrote The Descent
This list is beautiful, And gave me some good hidden gems
May is so so good! A great list as always!
Definitely going to check out some of these, like The Booth and Oprhan. Thanks for all the great recommendations!
These are great! Please do the 70s too, that's a brilliant decade for Horror
The only ones I haven't seen are The Booth and Frontier(s). đł
Personal favourites of mine are The Descent , Thirst and A Tale of Two Sisters. â€ïž
Some of my favorites include the devils rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre the beginning, The Hills Have Eyes (2006), Hostel part 2, Dawn of the dead(2004), and Rob Zombie's Halloween 2
wow I can tell so much about you from these! You love some grudge gore! ;)
@@spookyastronauts I also love Trick R Treat (2007)
Trick r Treat is one of the best ânewer classicsâ
I recently purchased all the Paranormal Activity movies on Bluray & Iâm so happy I did âcause they look so real and awesome. The first one is my favorite one, but I really like them all! Last one is the one that was scarier to me than the rest! Cool videos â€ïžđ
This list brings back some fond memories of the last days of video rental stores đ And please, I would love a Best of the 90âs list for us âold headsâ (30 plus)
Hhhhmmm⊠Ginger Snaps, May, 3 Extremes, Black Sheep and Eden Lake... You're my kind of horror fan!
Your list could basically be my list! Yay to another person who appreciates The RING, the Others, The Descent and May as much as I do :)
Hi thanks for the great video as a horror fan I haven't seen quite a few movies you have recommended I will definitely be trying some of them out thanks definitely do a 90s too thanks
Hope you enjoy them :D
@@spookyastronauts thank you
Martyrs was brilliant. And soul crushing. I've never felt so hollowed out from a movie. I've never had a movie stick with me like that, months after I watched it
Ahh so your spanning the decades! Neat yes keep doing this I love horror and history.
Thanks Ross
@@spookyastronauts you are most welcome.
I love these decade videos. I have been trying to watch and rewatch the movies I love on the streaming services I have.
Thank you!
FINALLY someone ELSE who actually liked Blair Witch Book of Shadows! I've seen it several time and I actually liked it better than the original blair witch.
oh wow! haha!
Thank you thank you thank you for putting Frontiers on your Underrated Gems list!! I love that movie!!!
A big YES to a video love letter to The Descent!!!
awesome video as usual SPOOKY, im sure you get this alot, but may i ask where you're from? australia or new zealand. aussie and kiwi accents are similar,
i wanna say australia, but im probably wrong.
but awesome video as usual,
Love, liked and subscribed!!!!
Just saw high voltage! Amazing!!!
1. I really enjoy this format.
2. So many of my favorites appear on this list, which I enjoy.
3. I have to see May, Why haven't I seen it yet?
4. I don't think you are really cheating if you list more than one film per year. If you have trouble deciding between two (or even three) films as your favorite over the course of a year, I actually prefer you list both / all of them. Deciding on one is just too arbitrary at that point, and I want to know about all of them.
5. I would love to see a 90s, 80s etc. version of this list, done as you did this one.
Great list! I think The Ring is probably the best horror remake that I have ever seen. It just works and honestly, exceeds the original. The Descend is a movie that is so original on its approach and I think that's the best quality of foreign movies, they have different takes on the genre and the execution is most of the time unique. Great story, great acting and the movie makes you feel like the characters are feeling, which is so rare to happen nowadays. Funny thing, when you mentioned High Tension I wondered if you would also include in the list Frontier(s), another well-executed gore movie. Also, I noticed that you have a lot of Asian movies on this list, would you ever consider making a video exclusively talking about Asian horror? There are so many good movies from South Korea, Japan, and even places like Singaporean (The Maid, 2005). I think that would be so interesting to watch.
I totally agree! The Ring is the best remake by far.
I have done some videos on asian horrors I've done Japan, Thailand and South Korea! :) And yes I've seen The Maid - czcams.com/video/Kc4U3MRirKM/video.html
check out uninvited (2009) it has "that scene" thing, if u haven't watch it yet
For 2001 I'd say 'Kairo' / 'Pulse' without blinking. Glad you mentioned Ginger snaps and I was hoping you'd mention 'May' loved those. :)
I saw dumplings a few years ago and couldn't stop thinking about it, didn't know it was based(jump-started?) by another movie! Always learn new things from your videos
It is powerful eh!
Oh my god I love High Tension! Finally someone appreciates it.
"Anatomy"--(2000)
a German horror film
starring Franka Potente,
more of a medical thriller, really;
a must-see.
Huh, never heard of Three Extremes...thanks Emma!!
Hope you like it!
The others was the first horror I watched and it made me fall in love with horror! Definitely have a soft spot for that film.
I actually premonitioned a lot of your selections, also in your 90âs list before you said them. Kindred !
Thank you so much for including "Black Sheep"!
Thanks for watching
Holy Jupiter shit, I canât begin how much I love your videos!
You have excellent taste. Shadow of the Vampire deserves to be much more popular. Never been much of a Nicholas Cage fan but his helping to get this amazing movie filmed brought my undying affection.đ
Yeah, how did SEVEN not make the 90s list, even as an honorable mention? It changed things back then, it was HUGE!
Great list... definitely gotta check out some of these movies! Also, I reckon itâs about time I watched the rest of the western Ring films-I loved the 1st Hollywood Ring, but never completed the set.
As someone who adores paranormal horror films The Orphanage, The Others, and Lake Mungo would be the perfect trifecta horror movie night list! Although... itâd be a huge downer considering all the films are about losing the ones we love. đ€Ł
Wow thats so true a Tragic Triple Feature!
Nice Movies ... I Hope You Can Make a List Of True Stories Horror Movies
2000- Killjoy
2001- Valentine
2002- Scarecrow
2003- Wrong turn
2004- Saw
2005- The gingerdead man
2006- Hatchet
2007- Dead silence
2008- Amusement
2009- Orphan
Killer list!
Thank you!
I literally named my cat ginger snaps because that move is so iconic
I'd love to see a movie with you but I live in the UK. Great video as always.
Thank you!
