Being German and getting to watch Sancho week in week out, it honestly bothers me that both of them wouldn't take him to the Euros. He's been one of the best wingers in the world last season and, despite having a weak start into the season, found his form back before his injury. Not taking him would be absolute madness.

In hindsight, it's absolutely clear Neville knows exactly what he's talking about. Maguire was absolutely crucial to England. Kane wasn't. He scored a rebound from a missed penalty and a goal against Germany when winning 1-0 already.
You're kidding right? England parked 8 players behind most of the time, obviously Maguire would've been considered important, you put Connor Coady in that defence he would've done just as much. The whole problem with England was that they weren't more attacking against teams. To play defensive against certain teams is understandable but to not attack against teams like Denmark, Scotland and even Italy was really dumb

Under Luis Enrique, Barca's best three players were MSN. Yet, particularly in the second season, I'd say losing Sergio Busquets would have been a far bigger blow than losing one of the trio.

Rashford and Mount should not be picked ahead of Grealish. He’s an absolute work horse, he creates so much and draws a ridiculous amount of fouls in great positions of which we have Kane, Maguire and Stones able to capitalise in the box from set pieces.

I think one of the biggest problems with the England squad every time is that we're always trying to plan a step ahead of where we are. What if this player gets injured? If we lose this we can play a weaker team next round. As Roy Keane always says, just focus on the next game entirely. Our mentality is completely wrong.

I think carragher seems to forget Croatia were world cup finalists and beat us en route to get there , give them a bit of respect
100% should be given respect. However that 2018 World Cup team that got to finals has changed. I don’t think they had a very strong backline, midfield was there strongest area with modric as the engine and rakatic and kovocic as the maestro playmakers. Modric and rakatic aren’t at there prime anymore they were two years ago and they have lost a player in mandzukic who was crucial. Also there World Cup campaign was amazing and they had a outstanding performance against tbh a lack lustre Argentina. Yet most of there games were a struggle especially in the knockout stages and against France they were battered.

What I do know is that back line is still weak, players that do not play top 5 leagues apart from the second choice rb at atletico. Midfield is the strongest part of the pitch and the fact that ur saying rakatic has retired from international is quite worrying although I think kovocic is good he probably can’t fill the boots of rakatic. And the attack compared to the World Cup is stale. Perisic hasn’t been playing the role of a goal scorer this season and if Croatia want a chance of winning he’s gonna need to carry that attack on his back along with kramaric. Good team yet a team that England should be going against with confidence.
They’re not as good as a few years ago. Man for man we are a better side apart from Modric. There’s no reason why we can’t dominate the ball. I don’t know why we always have the mentality that decent teams will have more possession than us. If Spain had our players, they’d be using the likes of Grealish, Foden and Mount and controlling games with possession. But we’ve always got the mindset that we’ve got to nick games on the break or with set pieces
Pretty insane there is no room for Saka. It shows how much quality England has in the squad right now, at least going forward. The weaknesses I see are in the centre back pairing, probably right back and of course the goalkeeper situation. I don't think Pickford is a good enough goalkeeper to start for a top European club for example, whereas Henderson is good but he's also sitting on the bench. I wonder a little with Lewin if he would blow hot/cold at the tournament also. To some extent I'd still say Saka should be in there because of his versatility - can play left back, left wing, right wing and he is good at all of them. As a sub off the bench he would be extremely valuable. I'd probably drop Phillips, place Grealish as a midfielder and slot Saka into the attacking positions with the intent to play on the wings.

If England are struggling with CBs play a 3-5-2 with Maguire stones walker in the back use taa as a right winger sancho on the left rice & Henderson as holding midfielders Grealish kane foden for the last 3 spots on the front they can switch places during the game or you can use rashford as a 9 with kane mount can play n10 well too there are good options out there
Against Croatia, I think the panel forgot about one key player that own his own can change the complexion of any game- Kovacic. For a player like that, I don't think Henderson with Rice or Philips with Rice are enough to handle him for 90 minutes. I'd get a player like Ward Prowse to play with Rice cuz of his work ethic going forwarding and defending as well.

I would take Greenwood and Sancho and leave Calvert Lewin. I'd also take 4 right backs, especially if England plan on playing a five (which I suspect they will). Walker, TAA, AWB, and Trippier. Walker and AWB could also cover CB so no need to take Coady. I'd actually start Trippier at LWB, he's creative and would combine with with Foden and Graelish on that side (and Shaw isn't as good playing as a wing-back). Walker at RWB, AWB at RCB. Very solid. For weaker opposition put TAA on. Harsh on James, who doesn't deserve to be dropped and who I think is a better all-round right back than both AWB and Trippier - but they offer different things and I think Walker covers what he does. He's just broken through and still has plenty of time, may well prove that he's the best right back im future years if TAA doesn't work on his defensive issues.
I think playing in right back and having the opportunity to attack is different from u being a midfielder. Trent will struggle in midfield. It's a very difficult position
