As Liverpool fan, Vieira was the more talented midfielder as a neutral. But Keane was a strong will character that made him world class. but I never thought I was say this but love him off the pitch. Who’d thought the angriest and most competitive player the Premier League has ever seen, would have a razor sharp whit and a sense of humour that would make him so fun to watch.

Such an era to have been a fan of the game, even though I did not actually have an allegiance to a team. That 1999 treble was a thing of utter beauty to watch, even though as Roy or David pointed out, he (and Scholes) missed the Bayern final.
While Sheringham and Solskjær that night scored, both goals had Beckham as assist, or involved. Epic times and possibly still my favorite ~90 minutes of sport.

I lived in Manchester from 1985 until 2002 and I went to an awful lot of Utd games and had a season ticket from '94 until '04 (when I gave it up as I'd moved and couldn't go much and decided it best if I couldn't be there as a fan all the time, to let someone have my seat and experience what I'd had).
I never saw before that or since, any player like Roy Keane look out for his team like he did - an absolute monster character on the pitch - a warrior, a leader and a protector of the badge - pure and simple he was (and still is) a measure of what a true footballer was, is and can be.

Love Ted Beckham, as a red, acknowledging Roy’s sacrifice against Juventus in the semi final in ‘99, it absolutely broke my heart that he didn’t get to play in the final and it was his sacrifice and the way he played for the rest of that game that put United into the final. My grandad Jack O’ Sullivan was a massive United fan who also knew Roy from around Cork (my Grandparents lived in Mayfield) and from the time I entered this world he insisted I would be a red too and he sadly died 2 years before they won the treble. Watching the documentary and that final moment in 99 made me cry again thinking back to when I was 16 watching it all unfold on the tv and feeling so sad that he never got to witness that history 😢. I also loved seeing Roy stick up for Becks the way he did in 98….they don’t make em like they did in the 90’s….Cantona….Irwin….my own hero Keano, Becks and the class of 92 ❤ Made my childhood a stellar one. For some reason I've always wanted to watch Keane and Becks in an interview together Keane has always defended Beckhams lifestyle publically because as he put it he backed it up on the training pitch and field.
Becks gives Keane credit for the way he ran the dressing room setting high standards for the team (something all his previous teammates state)
But the cherry on top and my favourite part was Beckhams Dad giving Keane praise and its probably the only time you see Keane that happy to receive it. Probably because he got it when it was Ted's time to praise Beckham but thats how good Keane was for Man Utd!
Beckham's 99 season didnt deserve runner up for top player honors in my opinion.
And I think Beckhams greatest attribute will forever be the fact that fame never stopped him giving his all to the game.
It never turned him into a bad person.
And most importantly the family man he has become when so many high profile celebrity couples dont make it Becks and Posh seemed of all of them the most likely to end in divorce was just so high profiled you almost had to assume it was for fame but it never was it was for love and still is and what a great story they are.
If they go to their graves still together would have to be the most successfully high profile romance in history.

This is an amazing programme. Fantastic and insightful hosts, all giants of the game… plus Gary Neville. Just kidding, what a great guy Neville is when he's not wearing a United shirt.

Becks came out and performed and won the treble in 99. What a mentality.
To have not won the Ballon dor as well is a crime that year.
