- Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet, with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Jill Scott.
Following Gary’s exclusive interview with Anthony Gordon where the Newcastle winger revealed his love of meditation and visualisation, the team talk about how they prepared for their own matchdays.
With VAR at the heart of controversy surrounding Nottingham Forest’s loss at Everton last weekend, the panel discuss whether Forest were right to criticise the officials decisions on social media.
And drama is never far from Manchester United, with our guests reacting to their FA Cup semi-final penalty shoot-out victory over Coventry after surrendering a 3-0 goal lead.
We also see the return of our Super 6 predictions - has Roy managed to claw some ground back on Gary?
Finally, we end with Community Questions where we discuss who should take over the manager vacancy at Liverpool from Jurgen Klopp this summer, is it correct to ban FA Cup replays and who is the greatest English player to play abroad?
If you liked the episode don't forget to let us know in the comments and if you want to listen only you can catch Stick to Football on all major podcast platforms.

Although the Forest Tweet was a bit reckless, if it forces a change in regards the way VAR is used , e.g hearing the Audio in real time , the officials having the stones to pull the referee on a bad call , I think most teams will welcome the change ...

@@Dave_ja_vuYou should probably stop having preconceived notions of footballers as thick then! Outside of Grealish, they’re generally quite intelligent.
These will never read this. But I’m honestly baffled by the backlash forest has got for their tweet. Nev idea of dealing with ref issues is sending the manager out to moan. But where has that got teams in the past?! Forest have every right to put that tweet out.
The root cause of all this is refs are so bad this season. They are performing with no consequences. They miss one week and go back to normal the week after. It’s a shambles.
Good on Forest for speaking up. Ref’s needs harsher punishment.
👏🏻
Neville also seems to think it should be done that way because ‘it’s always been done that way’ which is a fallacy.
@@onsitehistory228 And the exact way Forest have been doing for 80% of the season. He moans about Clattenberg constantly, why do you think Forest hired him in the first place? THAT was supposed to be a last resort!

Pretty sure I say this every week but Roy is an absolute legend in these pods.
Love this show so much, but I think they’ve not read the room on the Forrest situation. I’d say the majority of fans (regardless of if you like Forrest or not) agree that at least 2 of those were blatant penalties. The decisions this season have been so inconsistent and it’s costing teams big time.
Also think they miss the plot on the United result. Yeah United downed tools against Coventry after being 3-0 up, but give Coventry some credit. These things happen in football. They happened when SAF was at United, it’s happened to Arsenal under Wenger. The fact is United is in a final against the best team in the world and they don’t just beat Coventry to get there.
👏🏻 look up Taiwo Awoniyi penalty appeal v Newcastle at home & Neco Williams penalty appeal v West Ham at home
It’s been building for months and Forest got so desperate that they recruited Mark Clattenburg because they weren’t getting any valid reasons for it. How many times do you accept an apology before needing to speak out!?
Doubling down on the Forrest take when the overwhelming majority disagree with you is certainly something. Especially when Carra was championing wanting an explanation about Liverpool decisions that were wrong not long ago. Hypocrite.
Regarding Liverpool and the whole Cult of Personality around the manager, it’s funny that the unassuming Bob Paisley never gets a mention and was quietly their most successful manager of all time (and by some distance). This both refutes and proves Jamie’s point in different ways.
Yeah Shankly took them from the mud put them on top, exhausted him eventually with all the passion and brilliance, then paisley walks in and is the most successful manager of all time in Britain in.an 8yr period, insane!
Hopefully that happens again with klopp being a modern day Shankly, and a new manager just taking it calmly to another level.

Bruno has been the closest thing to a proper Man Utd player we have had post-Fergie. He doesn't get the credit he deserves. Plays every minute of every game, back to back, including extra time. Never injured. Takes our pens. Works with players like Garnacho to help them improve. Created more chances than anyone else in the PL 4 out of 5 seasons. Currently has 26 G/A. I don't get why the media don't criticise the refs.
Forest didn't get robbed ... It was 1 penalty that is definitive the others were 70/30 against and their general play didn't warrant anything out the game.
