Spending $2 bills at pet stores: how will cashiers react? 2 dollar bill reaction video

- Cashiers always have a reaction when they receive $2 bills, but pet store cashiers seem to be more exuberant. Using a hidden camera to capture the exchange, watch the 2 dollar bill reaction at over a half dozen pet stores when the entire total is paid with 2 dollar bills. We wonder what the numismatics community, federal reserve and those at the bureau of engraving and printing will think about this reaction video for what is anything but rare currency!

I used 8 dollars worth today at crackel barrel and the lady was shocked. She said she hasn't seen them in awhile. I told her to give them back in change to make someone's day. She said she sure will do. I walked away looking at candy bars and a guy checked out and got his change back. I heard him say "look dear I got a 2 dollar bill back in change". Made my day
Anyone who's day would not be made by this has no heart.
Me and my dad went to McDonald’s and used one and the lady started making a scene saying call the police these guys are trying to use fake money and the manager came over and said it’s a $2 bill have you never seen one before and she was just puzzled and just threw it under the drawer.
I remember I went out to eat at a restaurant. The total was around $113, so I gave them a $100 bill and 7 $2 bills. They didn't bother to check if the $100 was counterfeit, but they checked all of the $2 to see if they were counterfeit😂
Wow, that's crazy. Next time, give them a counterfeit $100! Thanks for sharing - that says a lot about the way $2 bills are perceived.
Lol
This is classic, I love it. We need more
I love these undercover reactions. Definitely do more of them.
Absolutely! They are in the works. But I like to theme them like this one, where it's one kind of store. I'm accumulating more reactions regularly!
Meow Tow and John, I found $2.00 at my nicer bank in Stephenville,TX as the teller found $190 in two dollar bills. Hopefully the mandatory overtime will pay out in helping my hoard more two dollar bills to spend freely! I love the two's as it covers odd ball change. I got some two's in sequential order and as emergency reserves.. I will approach the banks for two dollar bills if my two dollar angels guide me.. I feel I am the only Texas taxpayer using two dollar bills.. There is no shame in using two's! I'm proud of you John! I never got buzzed about a manager checking two's here in Texas, mostly "where do you get two dollar bills?" Most tellers I meet are glad to sell them.. Some banks tell me I have to have an account with them.. Yet I'm working 16 hour shifts and extra nights because of mandatory overtime so I can't be able to enjoy time off as I used to.. But now, I'll make sure to use two's more often! Thanks John! 💵💵💵💰💰💰
I use $2 bills all the time and when asked about them I tell people that the government is going to stop making $1 bills. I say that because of the $1 coins they do not need $1 bills and that they will cuts the printing cost in half by going to $2.
It's a great idea, but they won't stop making $1 bills any time soon. People are too used to them, and they have not adopted the $1 coin the way the government would have liked. The $1 bill is too much of a habit and is still in high demand. So the government will have to keep wasting money printing $1s when they should definitely be printing and circulating more $2s.
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary i hate coins they always get lost you know
How do people have so many $2 bills
TNLazer u can order them at the bank if they don’t have many on hand
Dave Ramsey would love this ideal of spending $2 Bills everywhere because he recommended spending cash instead of credit cards or debt cards when out for purchases
2:07 LOL the way that cashier stared at them!
I loved seeing the young ones look at them as you show the $2 bills.
The girl who was told they'd be worth a lot of money someday. So misinformed!
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary Well, most of them have never seen a $2 bill. Some think they are useless.
When I used to do pizza delivery,a customer had to use a red seal bill to pay for their food. I bought that bill and turned in my till as if they paid with ones.
Reactions great.
Thanks for sharing. I'm on vacation this week and using at the beach. The young ones are freaking out!
I really enjoy the undercover transactions with the $2.00 Bill. So many seem to be quite perplexed as if it is their first time seeing the note! Always fun to watch.
Thanks! We have more in the works.
I like to pay with dollar coins and I get the same reaction. A lot of cashiers call the manager right away 😂
I used a 2$ bill once to buy chips that were 1.89$ and the lady thought it’s was a 1$ bill
well they do look similar and $1 bills are far more common
Thanks for this I got a good laugh out of it some of those kids just about vapor locked not knowing what to do 😂😂
It was fun to make. Thanks for the comment.
When I was a cashier, I used to just put $2 bills under the tray.
I find it a bit hard to count them out because they are so new. Takes me a few moments longer to make sure there isn't any sticking to each other.
I always use $2 bills for tips and for small purchases. It seems to make most people a little bit happier.
Yes - it's a great bill to use. You cited one of our 7 benefits to using them! czcams.com/video/h4ANBL7sjvQ/video.html
Before highway tolls went up beyond two dollars in 2006, I had great reactions with toll operators.
So now you can give them two $2 bills, can't you?
My family was having a yard sale one time and I seen a $2 in a guy’s money clip and I said hey can I have that $2 bill and he said sure I didn’t think since you were little that you would know what it was and I said yes my mom works at a school cafeteria and the people bring them there to pay so she brings them home for me. And he thought that was cool and actually to this day I still have that $2 bill lol.
It's funny how hard it is for people to count by two's. They're use to counting one at a time or 5,10,20's
I just ordered $200.00 worth and been using some as gifts - but most as tips in restaurants and regular small purchases.
Awesome! Thanks Sneaker Head.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary you're welcome - it's fun using this bill format. I spend / gave the whole $ 200 strap nearly. I just ordered more to pick up on 12/31/21.
Love your channel & videos - love collecting and finding us currency since I was a child.
Chuck - look for a video on January 1 where I'm asking for people to submit a video showing off their $2 bills. I'm going to put them in a new video launching on 2-22-22. I'd love for you to participate and be in the final product! Please look for it and follow the simple instructions to submit a video where you can show us all those twos. :)
Here's the video asking for submissions. czcams.com/video/8LWVUuez_co/video.html Follow these directions and send something in!
Best reaction? Young cashier can't believe the $2 bills are only worth $2.
No, I'm giving you a $2 bill that's actually worth more than that. DUH!
Right. Let me pay my $26 pet store tab with currency valued at over $100.
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary ● Yeah. I remember back in the early 80's, I stopped at a "garage sale".
A little girl, maybe 8-9 years old, was sitting at a table in the front yard. She was "minding the store" for her mommy, who was inside doing laundry or something.
Going through a box of record albums, I came across one that I had been trying to find for several years (out of date - not available in "new" record stores).
It had a piece of paper tape on it, marked 50-cents.
"WOW", I thought. What a steal. Then, when I reached for my wallet, I realized I had left it at home - 35 miles away.
No problem. I had some loose change in my pocket. I pulled the change out, but, I only had, like, 63-cents on me. Two quarters, a dime and some pennies.
That's when I realized that ONE of the quarters was a "silver" quarter - worth like $1.50, back then.
It dawned on me that it'd be futile trying to explain to a little girl why a quarter was worth more than 25-cents.
I gave her the two quarters, but, I remember telling her, "You go show your mommy this quarter. It's worth a lot of money".
I don't know if she did. Probably not. I always figured I was getting the album I had wanted for years, and, even at almost $1.75, it was a good deal.
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary Your video inspired me to get more and use them as you said. Yesterday I had to renew my license plate on my car at the DMV so I decided to use some of the $2 bills got from my bank a few days prior. The The guy I paid for the renewal took them but then turned to one of his older coworkers and asked her if he could give it to people as change. She then said yes it’s legal tender.
YES..... Like mentioned, if you are going to spend $2 bills, do not be in a hurry, since once in awhile you will have people want to chat and ask questions. I don't usually spend more than 1 or 2 two dollars bills at once. I can see you getting more attention by spending a bunch of them :-)
A local store here is notorious for handing out $2 bills, and 1/2 dollars. Been a tradition for as long as I can remember.
I had an idiot checker at WallyMart try and refuse my $30.00 worth of $2.00 bills for my $29.00 purchase!! She even called the manager over who quickly set her straight!!! Stupid people!!!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Agreed! Wish you had a camera rolling.
you should go to a few stores like 7-11 and pay with 2s, and then have someone in line after you have a $10 bill and get $2-4 in change and see if they give them the twos you paid with before
Good idea! We'd need two hidden cameras though, so you could see each transaction. That makes it tough. But we could always go outside after the first transaction, swap the camera to someone else, and send them back in. We'll consider it!
in the past month, i spent about $50 in $2 bill at stores
encounter some of the dumbest cashier ever
all of them - 40 yrs old and younger - use the pen to check if the bills are fake
one cashier exam the bill against the light to see watermark(?) or something
every transaction, took them 2-3 minutes
That'd be great to have video of! But you can film your collection and send it to me and maybe I'll use it in a new, upcoming video on 2-22-22. Here are the details: czcams.com/video/8LWVUuez_co/video.html
Next video. Using $2 bills at a strip club
Edit : I forget they did a video like that
We already did that one. czcams.com/video/ICY4HV80FFY/video.html
I go to my bank once a month and get 200$ in 2 dollar bills once a month to use for tips at bars
That's great to hear. Do you use them anywhere else?
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary not really
I love your channel! In my country the rarest bill is the 500€ bill and most stores don‘t accept is which isn‘t as funny as paying with 2$ bills.
Thank you! What country are you in?
$2 in 1960 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $18.19 today. Or 3 $5 Whopper meals and a 10 piece chicken nuggets. Imagine buying all that for $2 in 1960. Today it just about ruins a $20 bill.
That's funny.
I think I’d be easier if I got change and gave money in $2 bills. If i have a $10 bill and pay for a dollar item for change I usually get; 5, 1, 1, 1, 1. Which is more bills than is needed. It should be; 5, 2, 2. Way simpler than it usually is.
Agree 100%.
They actually do not make 2 dollar bills anymore. They stopped printing them in 1966.
Far, far, far from the truth! Of course 400 million newly re-issued, green seal twos were printed in 1976. There have been a dozen printings since, including last year. You can find serial number years 1976, 1995, 2003, 2009, 2013 nd 2017 recently. Unless you were being sarcastic with your comment, you should watch some other videos on this channel (including the full film) to learn all about $2 bills and when they've been printed.
Nice dogs
I order 2000.00 worth of 2.00 bills every couple of months from my bank. I pay for all kinds of things. Got thrown out of a restaurant. More recently I had a cashier at a truck stop try and refuse them for the purchase of a couple of banana s . She literally freaked out. I just walked away with my purchase while she was yelling at me to stop. She ran to the back of the store to get her manager. I just continued walking hoping and went to my car. I sat there for a while.waiting for the cops to come. Would have made a great video!!
Yeah, I was just thinking that. Have a camera running next time you spend them! Send me the footage and Ill put it into a new video.
4:20 hahahaha
I have a few from the 60s 70s and 2000s I believe I even have a couple silver backed ones I would have to go them all
Joel McGrath I usually wouldn’t spend any that are 76 or before. The ones before 76 are more rare and worth a little more than 2 dollars. 1976 bills are worth 2 dollars, not rare but I like 76s because it’s bicentennial
They look so cool going to th bank for hundreds of em right now
IMO People are confused on which $2 bills are worth more. I am not 100% certain that $2 bills are worth more, but I did notice that a $2 with red marking instead of green are worth more than $2.00. Also depends on where the $2 was minted.
I take em in all the time. I'm a cashier. And I buy them. I have a out 250 2$ bills
Casinos will sometimes use $2, $3, and $4 poker chips. Would be interesting if currency came in additional non-standard denominations. A $13 bill would be interesting! The superstitious would be quick to spend them.
If they make a $13 bill, I think I'd be obligated to do a channel on them.
I paid for water at a store with a $2 bill and he didn't know where to put it in the cash register
It happens a lot. Next time, show them this video: czcams.com/video/f76wmDQWZKo/video.html
I paid for something the other day with about $10 in twos and was asked if I was Canadian! They have a $2 coin now, not a bill!
Canad switched to a $2 coin about 20+ years ago. I get lots of comments on this channel where people tell me about the $2 coin and how the U.S. should switch to it as well.
I like 2 dollars bills to I spent them all the time I don't save them I just spend them
Do the cashiers react the same way as these pet store employees did?
It's kinda rare to see the dollar coin as well
Yes, but dollar coins don't have the appeal that $2 bills do.
I'm in the UK, never been to America and have a few $1 coins. Thought they would be common over there.
@@delta250a They hardly give them to you in stores. Unless you buy something with cash in a machine, like a ticket in a railway station, then you'll get change back in coins
I started to spend them recently
And what have you found in doing so?
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary I found that some people were rude because there was no spot for it
Awww dang it I missed it
Maybe you missed the premiere, but you still watched it! It's all good.
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary Ok thanks! Love your videos
I need to get me some $2 bills and I want to see some people’s reactions I also want to get the $500 bill
You can get $2 bills at the bank. The $500s... you'll have to get from a currency collector/dealer, and you'll pay more than $500 for it.
This is Disgraceful some of them did not Know but i guess it can't be helped. Sighs
3:38.
Except a good bunch of the people in this video suspected you of counterfietting, Much more than they'd do if you just used $1 Bills instead.
If I had used $1 bills, it wouldn't have caused much of a reaction though. Would you even watch a video where someone spends all $1 bills??
I’m 12 and I requested to get $50 and two dollar bills that I paid for I know as a matter of fact that they’re not rare at all so I signed them and gave them to teachers and and all of them were like oh my gosh aren’t these things like rare and I’m like it’s a two dollar bill they’re not And in my classes I would I would take some out of my pocket and people would be like oh my gosh they don’t make those anymore oh my God and I’m the one who has to tell them they’re still being made they’re not rare
Good you’re getting them in circulation
Somebody has to
Stupid video but I did watch..ha..I've been an ardent fan of 2.00 bills for years..(also buy the "old 2s for collector value).. Noth special about 2 other than merchants seldom see them.
Right, but may I suggest you watch my full documentary about $2s, which doesn't include anything like this clip. You'll see just how amazing the bill is. And if you're as ardent a fan as you claim, you'll really love it. amzn.to/2gpRKum
what about half dollars or half cent coin or 2 cent coin or 500 dollar bill lol or a 1 dollar coin
Imagine having a transaction of of $6.36 and paying it with 1 coin and 3 bills the bills would be 2s and the coin a 50c peice whatever the name is
We had a few transactions here where we needed a $1 bill. We should have had dollar coins instead!
I really hate to see cashiers marking bills. Its a tragedy to deface such beautiful bills. Im a cashier at a gas station and we have a machine that tells us if it is counterfeit. No marks just a scan of the bill.
The second guy in this video - the one with the green shirt who asked his manager where to put them - checked for counterfeiting by inserting them into a machine. The camera didn't get a good shot of it since it was behind the register, so I couldn't use it clearly in this video. But it was the first time I'd seen one of those machines. That's the way it will probably be done moving forward, as soon as stores start acquiring the machines.
LtexprsGaming the mark disapears after Like a day. i have one of the pen put it on a bill it disappeared
I have 4 from 1976
Not gonna spend them?
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary are they even worth anything?
They're worth $2 each, unless they have a fancy serial number or error, which is highly unlikely. There were 400 million $2 bills printed in 1976. They are nothing special (as collectibles) at all
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary Yeah I checked they don’t I just keep them because they’re cool. And they’re in good condition but I do spend others thanks anyway take care of yourself!
Allot of people think they are rae and there not you can get them in 100 dollars stacks i do just to check serial #s.
I'm all for spending $2 bills, but it's kind of a dick move to use them for a $25-30 purchase. Use them to make a small purchase at the convenience store. When you do that, they're more likely to give them as change, but when you give them a big stack like you did here, it'll probably go right back to the bank.
I appreciate the comment, but I wasn't interested in where the bills end up after I spent them. I wanted to see what happened when a cashier got more than just 1 or 2, which is usually the most they'd ever get in a transaction (if they ever got any at all). The reactions were the key, and I think I got some good ones.
Well if they get a bunch of two dollar bills maybe people will start to realize that they're not rare, and start spending any they might be holding on to.
im a bit late sorry
Yeah I was wondering! But at least you saw it soon after the premiere.
