I'm a detailed person by nature, but with water color that bogs me down. I love your loose water color painting techniques and will keep experimenting. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Jean! I love hearing your process of selecting the color palette for your beautiful paintings. Your work has a complexity and power to it with abstracted forms. I am a big indigo/gold and limited palette fan as well. Your voice is so calm and you are always so encouraging! Gorgeous work.
Glad that I found you! Love your style. Thanks for the color tips. I'm going to try your method and see how it works for me. I tend to overwork using more colors than I should.
Best, best video with such wonderful understandings about colour. Thank you so much Jean. Very, very helpful.
Love your color choices. Thank you for reminding me to limit my palette to obtain better harmony. Very helpful and inspiring video.

Thank you for this video. Your spattering technique is new to me. I always used a wet paint brush, your way is SO much better!
I learn a lot from your tutorials. My interest is California landscapes. I love your description of your work, for ex. In this video. Sometimes It is hard to see your work as you cover it with your hands as you speak. If feedback is of interest for you. Thanks for your beautiful work.
Thanks a lot! And I understand your English!!!
Many tips!
It’s turnout very interesting!
I have learned so much from this, 😊
Thanks for the videos! I’ll tell you what brought me here. I have very limited time to paint now. I have 2 boys under age of 2. I have to paint. loose is good it’s nice to have tips from someone else who got it figured out. Great work!
Shout out from this Novatoan! New to your channel and am very appreciative of the color conversations. So very helpful. I can see where I need to start just playing with the paints, without looking to “create”. I have much to learn, and your approach takes the pressure off. Thank you for this gift.

Thank you.🙏. It is always a beautiful way for me to start my day by watching one of your tutorial💞. What type of paper do you mostly use...Cold press....hot press....140 pounds? Thank you for sharing your talent🥰💞
Thanks so much for the feedback Jacinthe. I mostly use Arches 140lb hot pressed paper. For cold pressed I use Saunders Waterford 140lb or 300lb paper.
Great video, thought I picked up a South African accent. I am from Johannesburg now living in the Netherlands.
Hi Jean, I’d love to try some of your paintings, but think it might be a good idea to invest in some acrylic and/or watercolour ink. Could you tell me how you choose to use a watercolour or acrylic ink with watercolour paints please? The advantages / disadvantages of using each with paint? Many thanks 😊
It's just trial and error Tricia - a lot of expermenting.
So beautiful! Thank you. Anyone else see the dogs head in the top right of the hill?
You have a vivid imagination. A good thing, but I don't see what you see.
@@JeanLurssen Mr.s Lurssen, Do you prefer smaller pieces of paper when painting? Smaller pieces seem to be easier for me other than larger. Does it make a difference when selling them? Thank you again,
@@rentedtux1883 I generally paint on 11" x 14" paper. I don't know what size sells best though. Would be good to know.
Hi Jean, Can you tell us what your favorite dagger brush is that you used on your painting?Thank you for the great inspiration.
That was a Scroggy's loose goose #1 dagger brush from Cheap Joes. It's great for fine lines.
thank you Jean, Happy Painting :)
You live in God's country! So many beautiful views right outside your door. :)
Love your style and tutorials, thanks for sharing your talent
