    Great stuff I keep my brushes in wooden pots. Bamboo is great. Stopped using jars when in haste I’d knock one over into a stone floor. NASTY DANGER THANKYOU

    Jean, your videos are wonderful. I enjoy listening to your wisdom. I will never be an artist, but that doesn't stop me from learning. I would much rather be learning something of interest instead of running the television for mind engagement. I am going todabble in some abstract. Hopefully it won't be awful.

    Thank you for this helpful video. I, too, was having problems with the Winsor & Newton guache being white and dense enough to simulate foam on waves. And using a pen with nib instead of masking pens that quickly dry up is something I will try. So helpful to see some of your studio set-up as well. Great organization! I have found, however, that my watercolor tubes last for years longer if I store them in either plastic bins with tight lids or large zip-loc storage bags. And I’ve recently switched to quite a few M.Graham watercolors for their lasting ability and intense hues.

    Thanks Jean. I'll have to remember that ph Martin bleed proof white . My change jar is half full and when it is full that's when I get art supplies I want. That way I use what I have first , mostly. 🥴👍

    I wonder why you don’t open out the tubes (with tin snips) and scrape the dried paint into small containers? I find little empty cosmetics containers useful for this job. Paint is so expensive, at my house every last crumb is rewet and used up! Great video, and loved the gouache tip.

    • @JeanLurssen

      Payne's grey, neutral tint, indian yellow, yellow ochre and indigo is what comes to mind right now. Hope this helps.

    I didn't realize that Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleedproof White is an opaque watercolor (as per their website), assumed it was acrylic. I'll definitely get this as it looks much better than a gelly roll :) I'd also like to know more about your fav W&N colors. I use mostly Daniel Smith, but I do like WN Winsor Violet over Carbazole Violet and WN Cerulean Blue in addition to DS Cerulean Chromium, but not a fan of WN earth colors. Winsor & Newton unfortunately discontinued my favorite yellows, the old formulas of New Gamboge PY153 and Transparent Yellow PY97 (it was more transparent and neutral than Hansa Yellow Medium).

      @@JeanLurssen I found them and have happily signed up for two to start with. I have a couple questions and I'm not sure why, but I was unable to use the link provided on your site, so here I am bothering you on youtube (I'm sorry).
      While shopping for supplies I discovered acrylic inks can be transparent or opaque and I wasn't sure which I should buy. Also, you are using paints fresh out of the tube and I'm wondering how important that is. Can I use my paint that I've already dried in my palette? It's a matter of budget but if you feel it does make a big difference I'll do it. Thanks so much!

    The product description of the Dr PH Martin bleed proof white is ‘opaque watercolor’, so it’s not a stretch to call it gouache. 🙂✌🏼.

    • @JeanLurssen
      @JeanLurssen  Před 4 lety +1

      I know but after trying it I'm convinced it is really a gouache rather than opaque watercolor.
