Wish I still had my old SNES. No clue what happened to it. Not to mention my NES, GI Joes, He-man, Transformers, WWF action figures, garbage pail kids, Micro Machines, etc. Damn the 80's and 90's had so many kick ass toys.

Apparently not.... their non knowledge of this game irks me. But once when I was 11 my knowledge of this game sucked too. I'm 38 now thats how pathetic I am lol.
It's not the only nonsense they talk. They say at 1:51 that they wish the charge shot was in the classic games like Mega Man 2 and this missing feature would "spoil" the classics. You know what: This charge feature totally destroys the purpose of the Mega Man games, it makes the standard weapon so powerful that you don't need the special weapons anymore. The original idea was that you need the special weapons to destroy the Robot Masters and progress through the levels, because the standard weapon is weak (that's why the charge thankfully is omitted in Mega Man 9 and 10). They didn't understand this fundamental point.

BtnMasher Draco that's not clear at all. There's some debate with how it all ties up. They've back peddaled and made connections off and on. I actually don't think it's good to connect the whole franchise. One of the problems I had with inafune was his desire to do that to the point it was stupid and unnecessary
D. San Quite a few of the Mega-Man series are connected. X is hundreds of years after the original. And the Zero series is hundreds of years after that.

Yea I believe the Zero series is supposed to be set along a timeline based on one of the two endings for MegaManX5, whereas X6 and beyond(For the X series) are based on the other ending.
There is also huge "hints"(punches to the face) that Zero was created by Wily(Somewhat like how X was made by Light) and that the Maverick virus that infects Sigma is in turn a virus created by Wily that he probably intended to infect the new MegaMan with.
What is never stated is What Happened To Light/Rock/Roll.
Since they didnt continue just making the original style games , it's a reboot

There is a secret weapon in x1 which actually is the hadouken.
That fireball attack you mentioned is actually the Hadouken, its a tribute to street fighter since they're both by Capcom.

X isn't a reboot. It's a continuation after 100 years.
Watching this feels like I'm 7 years old again with my bestfriend Eric as we trudged through this, and Wing Commander on summer break. Classic times of nostalgia.
Apparently the reason X looks so similar to classic Mega Man is because originally an early design for the character that would become Zero was going to be the new Mega Man, but later they decided to go with a more familiar look while updating the Zero design into his own character.
Inafune created Zero as the new Megaman, but he realized no one would accept the design as actually Megaman. Instead, he had another person design X and they came up with what we got.

Smokey McJoint there's an implication that's wrong with the original post. Zero was never x. When they were in the concept stage, inafune used alot of designs and used one of those on zero. And the original zero was closer to x anyway in the sketches
The power up you guys were talking about on the armor armadillo stage is a 1 shot attack move that you can do but it's tricky to pull off. You guys can't get it anyway because you can only get it after you've gotten all the armor upgrades, health upgrades, and all the e tanks filled and not get hit on that stage.

Ive gotten it not at full health and e tanks not completely full, but after collecting all the upgrades and armor. You can't use it if not at full health is the thing.

I have, lots of times (because they had never really played games before)
Not sure if you've completed this long ago, but there's a trick where you can dash and shoot enemies to do double damage, including bosses. Learned about it from GDQ of all things...works when dash jumping as well, just don't let go of the dash button. Can help against enemies you're lacking the weakness to.
It also works on MMX2, but I think MMX3's bosses resist this technique.

There's a really good remake of this game on the PSP called Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. Once you beat it you can go through and play as Vile. I strongly recommend it

This was my favorite game growing up as a kid. I love all mega man games but this one is the best (and the Legends series). Such an awesome action game, great characters, great music, just a solid game all around
Megaman X is one of my favorite games of all time. I also recorded a playthrough of this game, and it still holds up today. If you've never played it, I implore you to give it a try. (The purple guy's name IS Vile, BTW - he was even in the Megaman cartoon at one point.)
Thats crazy. I literally just downloaded this for the 3ds virtual console over the 4th of july and have been replaying X, X2, X3 and also Megaman 7

Best place for filling etanks is in Launch Octopus. Where the enemies pop out from the ground, charge armadillo and stand on top.
The order to beat them in can be argued.
In the game options, you can change which buttons do what. I've always found it easier to change the dash function to "R". It makes it easier to dash while jumping and charging.
Watching them play just made me mad haha. I played this game as a kid and I still remember where everything in this game is and all weaknesses.

Smokey McJoint X4 was great, the story was pretty dark for a Megaman game and it had a fitting soundtrack to boot. It's one of my top X series game actually.

1 of my top 10 all time favorite games. i recently replayed it with the SNES mini. i had a blast!
Just to clarify this, the fireball Mike is talking about is literally a Hadouken, and you actually use it the same way like in Street Fighter 2.
It also doesn't take that long to get everything if you use a guide, otherwise you likely won't even find the hadouken because it requires you to revisit the same area in Armored Armadillos stage, I believe 5 times, and it only appears if you found every armor upgrade, subtank and heartcontainer.
I also highly recommend watching a 100% speedrun of this, good runners can beat it in under 40 minutes consistenly and since the game has barely any glitches it is fairly straightforward and easy to understand, with a few exceptions.
Fun fact: Zero was the original design for X
When Zero showed up and James said "who is that?", my heart sank...that's like Knuckles showing up in a Sonic game and somebody asking the same question.

The Megaman Zero games for the GBA were some of the best Megaman games.

This game is amazing to this day. I also really like Maverick Hunter X, the remake for the PSP. Sadly, it being on the PSP, it's not that well known. You can even play as Vile in it!

I had played this game on PS2 for a while and about 2 years ago bought a copy of this game for the SNES. A beautiful game visually and controls a great and kick ass sound effects. Great video dudes!

Yep. If I remember right, you have to obtain every capsule in the game. Then play Armored Armadillo's stage up until the cart section and intentionally die at the end of it by jumping into the pit until you have a single life left.
Then, on your last life, dive forward at the end of the cart section, past the pit, onto the cliff ledge at the right side of the screen to find the Hadoken capsule.
It destroys every boss in a single hit, but cannot be done if X has taken any damage whatsoever.

It's fun that you explain the Hadouken Fireball thing but don't inform James about the fact that the levels change depending on what boss you have or haven't beaten yet. For example, beating Storm Eagle makes the Spark Mandrill electric stage going dark and broken because his ship crashed on the power plant, and the mini boss with the bubble around it becomes easier due to the electric current shortage (the reason why he did the super attack in the video). Beating the Chill Penguin freezes the entire Flame Mammoth stage instead of having it lava filled, and so on. This was one of the things I loved most of all as a kid. And the fact that some bosses get hurt by special weapons in a unique way. Like when Armored Armadillo drops it's shields after a spark shot and changes the entire fight into a trivial one where he cannot defend anymore.
With the X Legacy Collection coming out next week, yep. I'm hyped.

For me Storm Eagle's power was basically the Metal Man equivalent of this game. I used it like 90% of the time except for the few enemies it doesn't work on. Also, the upgrade that can charge weapons is in Flame Mammoth's stage but I think you need to the helmet upgrade to be able to get it.

Also, what is super cool is that using boomerang kuwanger's cutter, you can chop off Launch octopu's tentacles and Mammoth's trunk after several shots

You can also use L and R to change weapons instead of pausing. Also the X buster upgrade is the one that gives you the reddish big blast and the Hadouken is the one hit kill. Love the video guys and keep up the good work.

Mega Man X2 is the one I played the most. Mostly because I was broke and couldn't afford many new games. I played over...and over..and over...got so freakin' good at it that I had to start inventing challenges, like the no heart tank challenge, or the all X-buster challenge. Then finally, the no heart tank, all X-buster, defeat all 3 X-hunters challenge. That one took some effort....
seriously, even though I never finished this game, I loved the idea of having so many costumes to change to with different power, it still makes me happy nowadays!
